Last year at the Relevant conference, the What’s In the Bible? folks approached me about doing a giveaway on my blog. I sort of shrugged them off because the DVDs didn’t really look like anything much but some silly cartoons.
However, I said they were welcome to send some DVDs to us to check out and, if we liked them, I’d be willing to consider a giveaway. I figured that would be the end of that since I was guessing we wouldn’t like them as they just didn’t seem like our type.
Well, we got the DVDs, we sat down and watched them, and I was proven very, very wrong. We LOVED them. (And if you’ve read here much, you know that it takes a lot for me to use all caps about something! :))
Yes, they are silly and corny at times. But a lot of the time they are genuinely funny.
And it’s not the fact that they are humorous that impressed my husband and me: it’s that they have a depth to them that very few children’s Bible products we’ve seen have.
Our children have learned so many new things about Scripture and how it fits together as a whole. These DVDs have opened up conversations about many, many spiritual issues that we’ve not broached before. And God has used them in powerful ways in our children’s hearts and lives.*
So, contrary to what I ever expected, we are HUGE fans {there I go, using all caps again!} of What’s In the Bible DVDs. And I’m so excited that they are giving away four DVD sets today.
*Note: As with all things like this, I heartily encourage you to watch these DVDs and discuss what’s in them with your children. You might not necessarily agree with everything in the DVDs, but we’ve found that’s provided a wonderful springboard for some really deep and meaningful conversations about spiritual things with our children.

Thanks for taking on this giveaway!! This series is so great!! I actually got the first dvd last year, but my daughter wasn’t really interested in it … she was still 2 then I believe … but when we rotated the dvds last week (I don’t like to have too big a selection all at once – rotating them, like toys, means one doesn’t get bored watching the same ones over and over!), this was the one she went straight for!! … And it has been watched HEAPS over the last week! Seriously interested in getting some more, so this came up at the right time!! Also, thanks for the code … will help if we’re not lucky enough to win … Congratulations to the winners though!! This is a great selection to win!!!
We LOVE WiTB? at our house as well! I’m a grown-up, know-it-all pastor’s kid and I have learned some things from this. I love their way of absolutely addressing the tough issues head-on, while also presenting them in a fun and understandable way, even for my preschoolers! So much knowledge about the Bible that they’re picking up without even realizing it!
I also see these as filling a HUGE gap that we have in our churches today – we tell individual stories from the Bible, but we only rarely put them in chronological order or show how they’re connected. Things like Jesse Trees help with that, but WiTB in an AMAZING resource for people who want to understand the big picture of the Bible! So far we haven’t exactly camped out outside of the store, waiting for each new episode…..but we can hardly wait to buy each new DVD! And we give them to our friends at each birthday party!
Also, check out their Christmas DVD as well! It gives awesome explanations of our Christmas traditions and how many of them point to Jesus – all while being hilarious!
Seems Amazon sells them for cheaper with no coupon code necessary.
These are huge favorites at our house…in fact, we are waiting for our #7 to arrive….they are awesome!
Always looking for new things for the church youth. Thanks!
We have the first video and I agree there is a lot of depth… but there is also evolution. Some Christians believe in millions of years is the topic… they also mention a bang. We are firm believers in a seven day creation and will not be watching these. Just an FYI for others.
Phil Vischer addressed this in a blog post on the What’s in the Bible site.

thank you, Kate!
I bought the 1st one when you mentioned the $5 sale they had. My 4 yr old loved it and watched it over and over. I love the fact that there is some depth to them. Would love to win
I so would love to win these. We bought the first one last week and my kids love it. My 5 year old keeps asking to watch it. 🙂
I couldn’t get the code to work on set 2-7:(. Says it’s an invalid code. Maybe I’ll just wait til after the giveaway.
I’ve never heard of these before but they seem great!
What a great giveaway!!!
I just bought a couple of these for my kids’ Easter baskets and can’t wait to view them. entering the giveaway though…if I win I will give them to my nieces!! 🙂
I would love these for our family! I entered the giveaway in hopes of winning them for us to watch together. My husband is a new Christian and I think it would be a great way to engage my husband and son together. Fingers crossed I’m the lucky winner 😉
How funny! We are watching the one about Exodus right now! Very clever; so much in these videos I never learned until I was in college studying religion. Fun, quirky, and memorable… how delightful to have my 4 year old singing “look what God can do” and my 7 year old making jokes about the Septuagint, “I didn’t sneeze!” We were priveledged to work with Phil at Veggie Tales and are delighted with the work that God has directed him to with Jelly Telly.
These are great! My church’s sunday school has used them in the past. They’re very clever.
