If you missed this morning assignment, find it here.
It was another great day today! Silas had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, so we’d planned to have a date beforehand. Only problem was, when I went to start the car, the battery was dead.
Jesse was already planning to meet up with us to go to Silas’ appointment, so he just came home early after court so he could jump the car.
In the mean time, Silas and I made a snack and walked to the park. Being the “proper” sort of guy he is, he was insistent we bring cereal in a ceramic mug. No snack bars or paper bowls for this guy. 🙂
Speaking of “proper”, notice his outfit? He’s taken to wearing dress shirts, sweaters, and sweater vests on a very regular basis. He even asked if he could wear a tie with his outfit, too. 😉
His sense of style cracks me up. Jesse and I are totally cool with our children picking out their own outfits, provided it somewhat fits the occasion and weather, so we have lots of style variety out our house right now with Kaitlynn being the fashionista, Kathrynne opting for camo and tattered jeans, and Silas sporting sweater vests. I love to see their unique personalities expressed in their clothing choices. 🙂
While at the park, we found this guy. Silas was fascinated.
Silas was fascinated.
Time at the park with Silas definitely counted for my relaxation project today, it was leisurely and fun. I find that it’s such a good thing to have special one-on-one time with a child to get to really listen to them and just soak up the moments with them.
I also spent a little time reading and looking at knitting blogs online, too. Not that I need to be starting any new knitting projects when I already have four more lined up that I want to do after my scarf is finished. But it’s still inspiring to see all these amazing things bloggers are knitting!
By the way, I decided against trying the ceiling fan cleaning like I did last time. I figured it would be safer to stay on the ground when cleaning the lights this time around. 😉
I hope you had a great day today! Thanks for joining me in all these projects this week. Be sure to come back a week from Monday morning for your next assignment! Enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving week!
How you do on Day 10? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

How sweet Silas looks! I remember when my older son went through an “all dressed up” phase as a pre-schooler. He constantly wanted to wear a suit and tie. Oh, how I miss those days… right now even getting him into a collared shirt takes a little coaxing. 🙂

Hey Crystal, as a mom to 4 children age 17-5…I just want everyone to know how special that one on one time is! My 17 year old and 14 year old even fight for their “date nights” with mom. People are often amazed when they hear that I do this and I have for the past 3 years. I regularly take my kids out alone with momma on a “date!”. My older boys practice date behavior….I make sure they open my doors, pull out my chair..have decent back and forth conversation. I even give them the money ahead of time and let them take care of the bill just so they get some practice on date etiquette! We also do other special things like movies or walks in the park. My last date with my 5 year old was to a ceramic painting shop and we painted little mugs. I truly have found immense value and teaching moments with all my children and they all truly love it! So keep this up!

I’m so sorry that you had car trouble! But at least you had a nice afternoon with your little boy 🙂

Crystal, I wanted to tell you how I clean my ceiling fans. Each blade takes seconds.
Take an old pillow case, and open it up, sliding it over the dirty fan blade. Then, just tighten the pillow case around the blade, and pull it off, toward you. All the dirt and grime will end up in the pillow case. Once you’re done cleaning all the fan blades, take it out side and shake it off. Then just turn it inside out and throw it into the washer.

Love this! Great idea, thanks for sharing!

Be careful cleaning ceiling fans. A friend stood on her bed to clean hers and fell backwards. She broke her hip and has not healed well. A simple task can go bad very quickly if you are not careful. Her life has been altered dramatically because of a moment of bad judgement. Be safe out there!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I can already see where a few of these assignments are starting to become habits for me. Love the pictures in this post.

Silas is probably imitating the way his dad dresses. As you know, little boys want to be just like dad.

Yeah I wish I would have had the common sense to wait til my husband came home before working on lights which is what I normally do.
Which not sure if you’ve gone to their site or not but http://www.lionbrand.com/ has a lot of free patterns for knitting and crocheting with some really cute ideas when it’s time to pick out a new project.

I’m also looking for some good knitting blogs–preferably some with some cute, free patterns!

How adorable Silas looks! He would love coming to our home, we have praying mantis on our patio most days in various sizes. They move so slow he would have plenty of time to study them. We had one mantis that took up his home for several days on the patio.

Silas is so cute! I love his sense of style!
I’ve been seeing a lot of really cute crocheted things. I’m especially intrigued by the toy fruits and veggies that are stuffed inside.

I am loving following along with this series!
Today I was able to relax with a brownie and some Grey’s anatomy while my son napped. I didn’t clean my lights/fans, that is usually my hubby’s job with the shop vac. but I did decide to sort through some clothing bins and “trash/keep/donate”.
This series has helped me stay focused during the day by doing small tasks one at a time instead of feeling overwhelmed by everything i need to do!

Looks like you had such a great day with Silas. Today for fun I spent time with my kids too, we made oatmeal raisin cookies. We also cleaned the light fixtures and our ceiling fans but our ceiling fans are not as high up as yours is. So there was no danger involved. 🙂
I know what you mean by looking at other bloggers knitting. When I do that it just gives me so many more ideas of what I want to make. Then I wish I could knit all day and knit faster.

Silas is adorable! How sweet that he wants to wear sweater vests.
It’s fun to see kids express themselves through their clothing choices.
It sounds like you had a lovely day. I didn’t get any extra cleaning chores done, but had a nice time out and about with my dad (he is visiting from Australia). I’m running my first 5K in the morning! My dad is joining me 🙂
