During the month of April, I’m encouraging my readers to participate in a 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge (read more here, if you missed my announcement about this challenge last week). Every week day morning at 9 a.m., I’ll post the daily project and every evening around 6 p.m. EST, I’ll post an update and link-up.
April 15, 2013 Project
Your project for today is to surface clean the living room and kitchen.
- Set the timer for 15 minutes and pick up and put away everything that’s out of place. Bonus project: Find 7 things to get rid of.
- Next, wash the dishes in the kitchen (if there are any), wipe down the countertops and surfaces in the kitchen.
- Finally, vacuum the living room.
You can follow along with my list — or do whatever constitutes “surface cleaning” to you. There is no one right way to do this.
Then, come back here at 6 p.m. EST and I’ll show you pictures of my cleaning accomplishments for today and have a linky so you can link up yours, too!

Perfect! My littlest dumped out a bag of pretzel sticks all over the living room floor over the week-end. He picked up all the pretzels, but the salt that accumulates at the bottom of the bag is hidden all over the carpet. My kitchen is in great shape though!

I just wanted to say that I am amazed at how well this Challenge has…. well, challenged me to get up and move it! Here in MN, Spring hasn’t officially “sprung” yet, but once it does my home will be in tip-top shape. I love the challenges! Keep ’em comin’ Money Saving Mom!

Since the living room is in good shape I am going to do the kitchen and take it one step further. I’ve been wanting to clean out the refrigerator and freezer so I am going to add the freezer to my list. 🙂

After the weekend we have toys scattered in the living room and my kitchen could use a good cleaning too. I am glad this is my task for today. 🙂

It’s amazing how cluttered and messy things get in one short weekend {that we are barely home for!} Today’s challenge is much needed! 🙂

Katie,
I know what you mean! 🙂

Thank you for this! I am going to send this to a few family members who seem to have a little trouble getting started on cleaning projects. Awesome.

Yeah I’m so glad this is today’s challenge. We did a BBQ yesterday and I usually will let the big dishes sit in the sink but last night I made myself clean them up instead of waking up to them so now I have an easy challenge day!
