Welcome to my weekly Slow Day post, inspired by Monica from The Homespun Heart. My Word for 2018 is Slow and, in the spirit of that word, I’m taking one day each week (Wednesday) off — I’ll be unplugged and offline and plan to move at a slower pace, take time to do things that refresh me, and just really focus on being present and savoring the moment.

I got home from India on Tuesday afternoon and promptly spent the rest of day in bed as I was recovering from Dehli Belly. Kathrynne was gone at Back-to-School camp, so I spent the afternoon and evening hanging out with Silas, Kaitlynn, and Jesse. It was so good to be home.
Wednesday morning, Jesse helped the kids get ready for school since I was still not feeling great. I tried to get up and get some things done and quickly realized I needed to take advantage of having a Slow Day and make this day really slow.
Jesse took the kids to school and I stayed in bed and finished reading this book.
I still had no appetite, but knew I really needed to eat, so Jesse made me soup with bone broth, chicken, and veggies. After a few days of pretty much only eating crackers and rehydration drinks, it felt good to put some really nourishing foods in my body.
Jesse also went and got me some of these drinks — my favorites. I’m working hard to restore my gut after I think it got kind of wrecked with the sickness, not having fresh nourishing foods, and taking some medications when I was so sick (I hate taking medicine and try to avoid it, especially something as strong as Cipro, but sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do!)
I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon reading this book and resting and taking a nap.
When the kids came home, I helped Silas with his homework. And then I went to bed pretty much right after dinner (hello, 10 1/2 hour India time difference)
