Reading this book challenged me to stop rushing through life so much and stop to savor life more. There is so much wonder and beauty in each day. The smile of a little child, the colors of a flower, the smell of bread baking… if we take time to notice and pay attention, there are beautiful things all around us.

And even in the darkest, most disappointing days, there is always a glimmer of light. No matter how difficult the situation you are in, as long as you’re breathing, there is hope. Don’t let disappointment swallow up your hope, your joy, or your life. Look for the beauty in every day.

This is so true about not letting things swallow up the beauty in life. 20 years ago I was going through a divorce. The person I was divorcing was a multi millionaire yet myself and the two kids barely had enough to eat grill cheese and tomato soup for dinner. With candles on because the lights and the water had been shut off. I remember my son brought me home a rose that he had walked to the store to get.
I realized that the divorce was going to go on for years, but the kids would not remain young. So I cheered up and enjoyed every ounce of everything I could.
My ex still lied in court and said he was broke, broke the law numerous ways to get out of paying anything but some how the lord has provided and here I am 20 years later and that young boy that brought me a rose is now a doctor and has provided his mama a room and food.

    Stop and smell the roses!
