It’s Day 4 of the Get Up Early Challenge and today was the first day of this challenge that I didn’t feel exhausted when I woke up — probably because my body was very ready to go to bed at a much more decent hour last night for the first time this week!
The last 3 days have felt pretty brutal, but I think we’re turning a corner and I couldn’t be more excited!
Habits don’t form overnight. Change doesn’t happen instantaneously. It requires effort, sacrifice, and perseverance. But it pays off!
Also, I can’t believe how much more I’m getting done and how much more margin I have in my life by getting up early! Now I remember why I’m such a big fan of this!! 😉
I’ll be hopping on Periscope at 7:30 a.m. to share some Morning Motivation encouragement and to some thoughts and insights from The 5AM Miracle book. I’d love for you to join me or watch the replay (just download the app and search for @MoneySavingMom).
Are you joining me for the Get Up Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your wake-up goal this morning.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

I got up on time this morning. My husband then asked to get back into bed to keep him warm, so I adjusted my morning routine and spent 15 extra minutes enjoying the cuddle time 🙂
We are very involved politically and the debate just got over, so I am going to adjust my get up time. I think 8 hours is more important than meeting the challenge this time 🙂

That sounds like a GREAT plan! 🙂

5:30 as planned -yay!! Even though I have a cold and the first few minutes were hard. But I think I’m getting in the habit of early rising – something I’ve started practicing a while ago. This challenge really helps me to get accountable though.
I’ve structured my morning routine counting back from when I have to get the kids up: around 7:20. I’ve counted the getting ready time, some morning chores (dish washer etc.) and most important, of course, time to write and meditate, read and go for a short walk. I realised that I really need to respect the time slots devoted for each activity! Then everything goes smoothly and I have time to cook myself a hot breakfast ( grain and dairy free over here!) and – my favourite part- eat it sitting down with my kids!
This routine also keeps me on track with another big challenge: be at my desk (I work from home) at 8:45 (or 9:15 twice a week) and work for 3 inunterrupted hours. This kind of structure, with clear time slots for everything, enough time for smooth transitions is essential and soothing for my creative personality. It has many benefits of course ( creativity that is) but I can be all over the place sometimes (i.e. often):))!
The essential element to all this is being in bed, ready to sleep by 10 pm. Maybe you should do a “going to bed early” challenge as well!
Thank you for everything Crystal and good luck everyone!

I think we’re actually going to do a Go to Bed Early Challenge next month. 🙂 I’m working on the details of that… and working on my courage to do it. Because that’s harder for me to do consistently, believe it or not. 🙂

That would be great!

I was up before the alarm went off – yeah! Immediately discovered we had no water because our pipes had frozen – ugh! Threw the whole morning off, but thankfully my husband was home to work on the problem and eventually the water began running again. I got my writing done late, but I did it!

I got up at 5 am!! Took my daughter to seminary, read the scriptures and one podcast BUT when I got home my little one was awake. He was still so sleepy so I got him back in bed and laid down with him. Well, I feel right to sleep. 😛 I’m up now, and ready for work. Oh well, at least I got up and was on time to seminary. 😀

I got up at 5:50am, not 5:00am like I’d hoped, but I got my workout done and got to work on time. No time for morning coffee, though.
I am still struggling to go to sleep early.
I get to bed on time but then start playing games on my phone or reading before bed which gets me wired. I need to start reading something really boring that puts me to sleep right away. Maybe an algebra or statistics book, that should do it!

Just wanted to let you know that my first thought when I saw this note was “wow her hand lettering is coming along great”.

Aw, you’re too kind!

Yay! It’s awesome that you met your goal this morning! I’m still trying for 4:30. Failed miserably this morning, rolling out at 5:45. Could not get to sleep and when I did it was not uninterrupted. My husband works nights in another state and he texts me whenever he gets back to his hotel room, which means as soon as I fall into a good deep sleep, my phone goes off. Last night when he texted, I thought it was early morning so I clicked my light on ready to jump out of bed only to realize that it was really just 10:30 *grooooooaaaaan*

Mornings are my favorite time of day so rising early is something I look forward to. Mornings are set aside for quiet, reflection, prayer, planning, coffee …and coffee….’cuz farm chores start at 7. My alarm rings at 4:50am EVERYDAY. His mercy is new each morning and that’s awesome.

Good morning. I know you posted it before, but I can’t find it, can you tell me what handwriting book you are using? You are really good at it, it looks beautiful. I think it would be something new and fun to learn. Have a wonderful day, and I’m glad you don’t feel exhausted this morning.

Thank you for sharing the hand lettering book link! I could NOT find it for the life of me. You’ve inspired me to give it a try.

Today was not a good morning for me, but it is entirely my fault! I got caught up in a book last night, and suddenly it was 11:45. Now I remember why I try not to read fiction before bed. 🙂 I was up by 5:55 this morning (my goal time is 5:30). And, the kids and I were still out of the house by 6:40. However, it was not the rested, relaxed morning that I would like. Tonight I’ll be in bed before 9:30. Lesson learned!
