1. This Picture of My Kids
These three got themselves up, dressed, washed their hair, fixed it, fed themselves, and got themselves out the door for early service with Jesse at church last week — all on their own! Which meant I ended up having a completely quiet morning all to myself to read and pray and then met them at church for the second service!
Moms of littles: hang in there. I know that it feels like the day will never come when you won’t be overwhelmed with changing and bathing and dressing and feeding little people, but the day will come soon when that will all be a memory of the past. And you’ll look at your kids and wonder how on earth they grew up and became so self-sufficient!
2. Fun New About My New Book
So, I kind of had a big week last week… not only did I launch my new book, Money-Making Mom, but I also got some very fun and unexpected news related to the book:
- Amazon editors picked my brand-new book for their November Business & Leadership Books pick. Say what??
- My book is now available in airports — the first time I’ve ever had a book sold in airports!
- The audiobook is being featured on the homepage of Audible.com (you have to scroll down to See What’s New and it’s in the slider there!) I have no idea how it got chosen to featured there!
3. Thought-Provoking Books
Speaking of books, I finished two different books this past week that I just loved and that really challenged and inspired me — Rising Strong by Brene Brown and Breaking Busy by Alli Worthington. I’ll be scoping more about both of these this coming week.
You can see snippets of what I gleaned from quotes I posted on my Instagram feed recently.
4. Your Money-Making Mom Pictures on Social Media
Oh my goodness! I am just loving all of the pictures you all are posting on social media with my book. Honestly, it’s a humbling and surreal thing for others to be holding and reading a book that you wrote.
And I just cannot believe that there are already 173 reviews on Amazon!! The way you all have been cheerleading and championing me in this book launch just floors and touches me so much. Thank you for proving, once again, that I have the best readers on the planet. You mean the world to me!
5. My Husband’s Kindness to Shop for Me
I posted this on Instagram earlier this week:
How I shop…
Step 1: Make a list of what I need to buy.
Step 2: Text said list to @jessepaine with photos of ideas of what I’m sort of thinking.
Step 3: Sit at home in my comfy pants and comfy chair and get blogging work done while @jessepaine texts me pictures of Silas holding up various items that fit my list criteria.
Step 4: Have a phone call with @jessepaine to decide on the final picks.
Step 5: Try on clothes at home. Be very, very grateful that my husband loves shopping. Celebrate the fact that I stayed out of stores yet another day.
The End.

I’m jealous of your clothes shopping arrangement. That sounds PERFECT!

I’m loving your book this week! Got Money Making Mom in the mail Saturday night, and finished it by 9am today. I’m a new entrepreneur, having just left behind a high-paying executive job that was stressing our family beyond belief. Your words of encouragement were just what I needed to hear! Thanks for putting yourself out there.
Crystal Paine says
Aw, thank you so much for your kind encouragement! You are a blessing!

My hubby loves shopping too! He finds the best deals, and then I only have to choose from a couple of options. I am so thankful for him. 🙂 I am thrilled that your book is doing so well! I know it will be a huge encouragement and inspiration to many. You are such a blessing Crystal!

I’m loving…
1. That my keurig makes hot chocolate, WA is getting cold!
2. My new hair cut! It’s the little things..:)
3. Evenings on the couch with my hubby, reading, talking, watching tv.I’m learning to enjoy every little minute of the day
4. My sister Jenni, who is my best friend and has worked so hard to help me fit in to my new home In WA
5. God’s grace and strength as I step out of my introverted, shy comfort zone and step out to make new friends in a new place.
Crystal Paine says
Yay for Keurig hot cocoa!!
Jen says
I sometimes forget to be thankful.
Today, I am loving that my 2 1/2 year old wanted to snuggle with me after his nap today. We laughed and snuggled. It was the highlight of my day (and I told him so).
I love that my daughter wants to attend a Bible study at her school (after school club).
I am loving that I can wear my suede boots again.

Love this comment!

I have been feeling so thankful lately! Thankful for:
1. B-12 injections. There are still several days a month that I have virtually none in my system, and am exhausted beyond description. A few days is better than a lifetime.
2. This website, which lets me learn and have fun at the same time.
3. My husband’s job, which he loves, and has had now for 25 years. Few people get the security of working for the same company for so long.
5. That we were spared during the flooding in Columbia, SC. And that we had a full pantry and freezer so that we did not need to get groceries during a time when many others truly needed access to what was on the shelves for their families. What a blessing.
Crystal Paine says
I’m so grateful to hear that the B-12 injections are helping so much!

I love the picture of your kids! My oldest is Silas’s age, and my other two are 3 and almost 2, so we’re not there yet. It’s nice to have hope, though!
This week I’m loving:
1. Watching “The Wizard of Oz” with our oldest. Fun to share the experience with him!
2. Having time to make real, tasty meals.
3. Running in cooler weather.
Crystal Paine says
Yes, there’s lot of hope down the road!

#5 is killing me! Ha! Thanks for the new (non) shopping strategy. 🙂

Things I’m loving this week:
1) Being able to get the book on audible! My husband sends me credits from his business account so I can get started today!
2) I started tidying up two weeks ago using the KonMari method after reading about it here. My linen closet, my clothes, and my books have been cleaned out! I am loving it!
3) I have a TON of things that have been cleaned out from my (and friends’) homes to prepare for a yard sale this upcoming weekend. It is an annual even to raise funds to send my son to Nicaragua on a mission trip. This is his third year to go and I’m SOOO excited that cleaning out has been purposeful in more than one way.
4) I cashed in my first shopkick points and used them to get a $5 target card. Along with a 25% off code (BESTGIFT) for toys and my redcard, I was able to get a great deal on an item that my daughter has wanted since last year. She will be so excited Christmas morning!
5) I have started re-writing a children’s book after reading your first chapter of your book this week. I contacted publishers years ago and then backed out when life got “lifey.”
Thanks for your daily inspiration!
Crystal Paine says
Yay for #5!!! I’m cheering for you!

I like that top. Did you end up getting that one?
5 Things I Am Loving This Week
1. Our date day road trip to Cincinnati Ohio and back.
2. The Lego exhibit “The Art Of Brick” seen on said date day. The sculptures were amazing.
3. Chocolate cake made entirely from scratch by my daughter! So yummy.
4. A promo code from Kellogg’s Rewards that enabled me to get 25 photo Christmas cards for just over $10 shipped from Shutterfly! They sent it out to members by email. (now to remember to send them)
5. The FYI app. I found it a few weeks ago and on Friday and Saturday night I bring the iPad to bed with me around 8pm and snuggle up under the blankets watching Tiny House Nation and Tiny House Hunting way later than I should. I am seriously obsessed with Tiny living (it started last Christmas vacation when we were at a condo with cable).
Crystal Paine says
I did end up getting it. It’s different than my usual, but I think I really like it!

This week, I’m loving that I had the chance to work alongside my husband as we share with our community about the food pantry in our area. I’m thankful that my best friend is coming to visit and we are having our first ever girl’s weekend getaway. I’m also loving that we get to take our kids out today and buy stuff for their Operation Christmas Child Shoe boxes. This is the first year we have been able to afford to do one with all three of the boys. Usually, we all pitch in as a family and put just 1 together.
Crystal Paine says
Oh, I love this!!
