30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Project #17

During the month of April, I’m encouraging my readers to participate in a 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge (read more here, if you missed my announcement about this challenge last week). Every week day morning at 9 a.m., I’ll post the daily project and every evening around 6 p.m. EST, I’ll post an update and link-up.

April 17, 2013 Project

Your project for today is to wipe down your door knobs and light switch plates.

If you have children, they’d probably love to help you out with this project!

Then, come back here at 6 p.m. EST and I’ll show you pictures of my cleaning accomplishments for today and have a linky so you can link up yours, too!

I’m excited that this will be quick and easy– I think I’m going to add cleaning the doors and the rims of the doors too while I’m at it.

  • Sandra says:

Oh, I never thought of the door handles. I usually do the electrical outlets too, when I do my light switches. Great idea about the door handles though. Thanks for suggesting. Have a great day everyone!

  • JessicaE says:

This sounds great! I love the challenges that have me clean something I usually don’t think to clean. 🙂

  • Amy says:

My 5 year old son loves to help with this. I give him a Clorox wipe and he cleans all the door handles once a week. Great chore that he can do and is actually helpful to me!

    • This is my 6 year olds chore too. I have the older kids do the kitchen cupboards and he goes around and does every door handle. I hadn’t had him do the light covers, but think I might start.

  • I can handle this today. I may get my kids involved too since we’re on break.

  • Oh, this is a good project for today! I keep forgetting to do the knobs and switches until I notice that they are sticky or something. :/

  • I just did that and the “dust catchers” on the four-panel doors the other day. I have some catching up to do with the whole challenge, so I’m going to work on another day’s activity!

  • Melissa says:

Glad that today’s project is a quick one! We have a ton on our plate after work today and aren’t likely to be home before 9pm. I may have to do the project in the morning tomorrow if we’re home much later than that tonight.

  • Shelly says:

I like that this task is an easy and quick one. I am also doing the hand rail for the stairs too. I am sure I can get my kids to help today. 🙂

  • Jennifer says:

I like to do this often. I also use an antibacterial wipe and clean off the phones and remotes, too. I’m really crazy about doing this during flu season. 😉

  • Clare C. says:

We’ve had some illness in our house so I did these yesterday, along with the phones and remotes. Today, instead, I wiped down my kitchen cupboards and baseboards.

  • K says:

Yeah….. they do get pretty icky at times – especially in the kitchen.

I will definitely be enlisting the help of my four children. I’m tempted to do an all out delegation deal. LOL!! No, I’ll help, too. 🙂

Has anyone noticed that baby wipes clean well? I have. I’ve even spoken with an auto mechanic who says he likes to use them, because they clean even the grimiest /messes really well. 🙂 The cheap/inexpensive ones even work.
