I find a lot of great ideas on Pinterest… but pinning something doesn’t do anything unless I actually, you know, try the idea. So I thought it’d be fun to challenge myself to do at least one Pinterest experiment every week — and blog my results.
I can’t promise that I’ll always have a Pinterest Experiment post up each week, because you know how I sometimes get distracted or on blog tangents. But I’m at least going to try. By the way, you can follow my Pinterest account here, if you’re interested.
These One-Hour Cinnamon Rolls looked promising. And they were fairly easy to make (I used my KitchenAid to mix the dough).
However, I think that my Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls still beat this recipe out by a long shot — and the Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls only take about 20 minutes of actual prep time to make. (You gotta try the Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls if you have already. Trust on this; it’s a winner recipe!)
I was excited to try the Cracker Barrel Pancakes. They were good and hearty, but I still think that our regular pancake recipe is better.
Want to see what ideas I’m thinking of trying next? Check out my Recipes I Want to Try board and my Do It Yourself board for things I’m considering trying next.
Have you tried any ideas or recipes you’ve found on Pinterest this week? If so, how did they turn out for you?

Thanks for sharing the recipe for the Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls. I just made them today & couldn’t believe how easy it was – plus, they’re a huge hit with my family!

Oh yay! They are amazing… almost a little too good. Which is why I don’t make them every day lest I eat half the pan! 😉

OK so I vote you should try and let us know:
Carmel Apple Cider – slow cooker
Peasant Bread
I have both of these in my try it’s also but have not got around to it yet!

The Cracker barrel pancakes have corn meal in them… it’s the secret ingredient. That may be why you don’t like them as much as your other recipe.
Crystal says
Do you have a recipe for the real Cracker Barrel pancakes? Because I love the real ones… I didn’t think this recipe tasted as close to the real thing as I was hoping!

Where did you get that beautiful red plate? I LOVE it!

I made the Cracker Barrel pancakes two weeks ago when I saw them on your weekly meal plan. My husband said they were the best I’d ever made! Made a double batch last weekend, using the rest of the same container of buttermilk. It smelled fine but when we bit into the pancakes, they tasted sour. Whole bowl of DOUBLED recipe into the sink, already cooked pancakes in the trash, 4 year old in tears, Mommy in tears. Not our finest moment. But I had your whole wheat waffles in the freezer so we had those instead! Thank heavens for freezer cooking! From now on, I’ll use the cheat method for buttermilk instead of buying it and save myself the risk of it going bad before I can finish it.

Very sad indeed. 🙁 I think that real buttermilk makes fantastic pancakes… but I only find it marked down on very rare occasions. Usually, the cheat method has to do. 🙂
Glad your husband loved the pancakes the first time around. 🙂

You can also divide the buttermilk into 1 cup and 2 cups portions, pour into ziploc bags and freeze and just take it out as needed. This is what I do when I buy marked down buttermilk.

How big is your bread machine? I think I tried your cinnamon rolls once, but the dough just overflowed out of my bread machine and made a huge mess.
Crystal says
I believe it can make up to a 2-pound loaf.

Sprinkle some (homemade) granola on top of your pancakes while they are cooking on the griddle. I first had them this way at Cracker Barrel and it is amazing. I do it all the time at home now and it has taken my pancakes to a whole new level. LOL I use the King Arthur Flour recipe for pancakes and have for years. Yummy and buttery.

I made the 1 hr cinnamon rolls too. They were good, but certainly not as good as yeast rolls!

I love your bread machine cinnamon rolls best part is they freeze well too! I roll up the dough slice it and put it on cookie sheets. Once they freeze I store them in ziplock bags and then when we want them I take them out the night before and place them in the stove (no heat on) to thaw overnight and by morning they are ready to heat. Although I do find they look prettier when made fresh and since I am usually up for hours before the family I sometimes treat them to fresh ones.

I made mini pom poms with a fork, and I was surprised when they turned out so well.
