If you missed some of the first posts in this series, you can read through the entire 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home series here.
It’s Friday! We’ve worked hard this week and I’m going to go easy on you today. In fact, you even get a fun assignment. 🙂
Day 5 Assignment
::Get dressed in something that makes you feel great {there’s something about dressing in clothes that make you feel great that just gives you more energy and zest for life! Get your free copy of SarahMae’s ebook, Frumps to Pumps, if you need more motivation in this.}
::Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to your list of weekly goals, and make a list of no more than 5-7 specific things you want to accomplish today.
::Complete your morning routine {if you don’t have a morning routine, take some time to create one today! Read my How to Develop a Routine That Works–And Stick With It series for step-by-step help.}
::Remove your couch cushions and clean out any crumbs, toys, or other miscellaneous items you find. Use an attachment on your vacuum to vacuum the cushions, underneath the cushions, and all crevices of your furniture. Spot clean the fabric, if needed.
::Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you. If you need ideas, here are a few: read, write, call a friend, pray, exercise, bake, play with your children, laugh with your husband, stop by the bookstore and browse the book selection, work in the garden, or take a nap! Take some time to just stop and enjoy life today!
Note: If you work outside the home or have a really busy week with little time for extra projects, just do the bolded project above.
At 9 p.m. EST tonight, I’ll be posting my progress and pictures, along with a link-up for you to share your progress and pictures, too. Here’s to our productivity today!

I must say a BIG THANK YOU! This has been an awesome week of getting things done! I have donated SO MUCH STUFF and actually READ my books I’m trying to get through this month. I’m taking it in smaller steps, but next week (starting this monday since Easter Sunday is wild lol) I’m getting up at 6am to run and enjoy coffee! Along with the other assignments you hand out! Thanks, girl, for keeping us motivated!!

Well, I’m not doing the challenge, but I did get inspired to make a list of Spring cleaning projects. I knew I was going to string it out for like a month, but my husband came to the rescue. He set aside his Good Friday day off and we got them all done in one day. After the hard work we went to Red Robin with some family that will be moving far away. At the end of the day I told him “Thanks for helping me with my list. You know this is going to be a bi-annual thing now.” And he said he’d be willing as long as we went to Red Robin afterwards. Score!

I re-read this 3 times to make sure I didn’t miss the “Find 7 Items” task. Of course, I pulled 4 items out of the bathroom as I got done this morning, just *knowing* it’d be on the list today. I guess I have a head start for Monday?????
Crystal says
I gave you a break today!! 🙂 Way to go in having a head start on Monday!
lori says
LOL … I did too!

I read too quick and thought removing the couch cushions was the fun part.
This is one of the chores my 4 year old does. He and my 1 year old have a great time pulling all the cushions off and making forts, and then I give him the vacuum cleaner to clean up the couch.
Meredith says
Thank you for telling me to sit and read! I love this series:)
Lana says
We don’t have removeable cushions! Woohoo!
Charity says
Same here! She’s! I’m off the hook 😉
MK Jorgenson says
I was soooooooooooooo thinking the same thing! 😀
Kelly Logan says
My cushions are not removable either =) but I still use the crevice cleaning tool!
Tracie says
I did my cushions yesterday! Maybe I will reward myself by doing something I love for more than 15 minutes. Thanks for the motivation and inspiration!
Mackenzie says
I will spend my 15 minutes going through a healthy cookbook I picked up at the library! 🙂 after the vacuuming of course!
Mander says
It’s nice out today, I think I’ll go vacuum out my car 🙂
Kay says
Does this mean we’ll have the weekend off? (Or for those of us working folks, the weekend to catchup…)
Crystal says
Yes, you get the weekend off! 🙂

So I removed the couch cushions to clean underneath them and not only found lots of crumbs, tissue paper, and a hanger but also found my CELL PHONE, which I have been searching for since yesterday. My husband called my number to see if it would ring, but it was on a low volume so we could not hear it.
Turner says
I also found the DVD remote which I have been looking for all week long……..lol
The Prudent Homemaker says
That’s funny!

I am loving this, it is really giving me inspiration and motivation to keep up with things. Being a mama to 5 girls and homeschooling I have to say that sometimes I climb into bed and wonder what I did? I know it was something because everyone was bathed, fed, and put to bed. But this makes sense and is easily attainable goals. I like that! Thank you.

I am LOVING this series! It has kept me motivated! My husband walked in our house yesterday and said “It looks great in here!” So, thank you for that! I wish you could do it all the time 🙂
Stephanie says
I absolutely love this!!!! I did today’s work yesterday! I thought that I already had the vacuum out might as well finish! Today will definitely be baking Easter cupcakes! Yea!
lyndsay says
Something for myself, huh? I have the afternoon off, maybe i’ll make it more than 15 minutes 🙂

Browse a blog for creative ideas and try a few new little embellishments in my Project Life album. I love PL since I don’t *have* to do anything special and I can just place our pictures in the sleeves…. But as a former scrapper and lover of all things creative, I like to go to get a little creative every once in awhile! That or maybe go to Hobby Lobby and get flowers and make an arrangement or something for the bathroom 🙂 Love this, btw. I’m am dressed in a cute outfit with a “french braid thing” in my pony tail (it was curled yesterday!!) and my favorite earrings. I do feel better! 🙂

Wow! this is going to be an easy day for me! only 2 of our 4 couches have removable cushions! I think I will use the 15 minutes to start on my new knitting project I picked out as one of yesterdays 7 things
