Walgreens: REACH toothbrushes money-maker!

The REACH toothbrushes in this week’s ad also qualify for the July Monthly Register Reward deal that began today. So here’s how to make money buying toothbrushes at Walgreens through Saturday of this week:

Buy 4 REACH Crystal Clean Toothbrushes
Use 4 $1/1 REACH coupons from the 4/11 or 5/16 RedPlum insert or printables here (must register)
Then, hand the in-ad REACH toothbrushes coupon
Your total will be $0.04 negative (so make sure you’re buying something else to absorb this!) and you’ll get a $4 Register Rewards back!
Free plus $4 money-maker after coupons and Register Reward!

Thanks, Wild for Wags!

i tried this yesterday, and the cashier at walgreens wouldn’t let me use the $1/1 mf coupon with the .97 cent in-ad coupon, stating she couldn’t give an overage, and i was buying other items too

It figures there would be an RR starting today – I bought 4 within the past 2 days and have used all my coupons. I could have made $4 profit if I’d waited 🙁

  • Rachel says:

I have had the same problem as tonia…at the Walgreens near me in Columbus, Ohio, they refuse to honor manufacturer’s coupons for more than the cost of the product. Does Walgreens have a standard coupon policy?

    • Rae says:

@Rachel, No. I have contacted them a few times about this type issue and they have never even contacted me back. Other people that have gotten responses were told basically sorry for the inconvenience but it’s up to the managers.

    • Shellye says:

Ask them to lower the price of the coupon to match the price of the item. Works for us in DFW.

      • Rachel says:

I asked them to do this, but they refused. Oh well, I got lucky because Kroger had Reach toothbrushes on sale 10/$10 this week, so I was able to use my $2/2 there and get them free 🙂

  • Annie says:

I had the same problem as Rachel & Tonia yesterday with the Dentyne & Puffs. I’m a little leary to try again for the toothbrushes.

  • Amanda says:

I bought two of the toothbrushes today with coupon but only got $1 rr

  • PS says:

Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out if this was going to work. I’m going to give it a try in the morning!

  • Adam says:

I have had the same problem as mentioned above. My frustration is different cashiers will accept the coupons, while other cashiers will not accept to coupons. I think that they are suppose to change the value of the manu coupons to the cost of the product?

  • Daniel says:

I had difficulty using the $1/1 reach coupon on the toothbrush in question today. In the past the registers would let me use the coupon provided I was buying a quantity of brushes that cost more than the coupons. For instance, I used two coupons to buy three brushes last week.

I went out to try this tonight with little luck. The first store was out of the product. The second store clerk “proactively” rang up the coupon from the ad before I could get her the manufacturer’s coupon. They then refused to accept the manufacturer’s coupon because it was for more than the value of the item. Store three was out of the brushes.

A sane person would have stopped here, but nooooo… Store four had three in stock. I brought one up to the register. It scanned for $1.79. I quickly handed the printable $1/1 coupon, and it beeped. The clerk read the coupon, agreed that it should work, and then called over the manager. The manager stated that their policy is to refuse printed coupons that don’t ring up, but they gave me the benefit of the doubt — this time. The manager was already gone when I handed the clerk the in-ad coupon. That refused to scan because it would put me in the negative. I asked her to ring a second brush. That worked. The total for two brushes was $1.14 with a $1 reward buck. Not a money maker, but a great deal on a good toothbrush. Too bad they didn’t have more in stock.

I wonder what’s different about the printable Reach coupon this week that makes it beep when it scanned last week.

I’m new to couponing & had the same experience as mentioned above. The Walgreens here in So. California had an in store coupon for the Reach toothbrushes @ .99/ ea. (limit 3), then, I had 3 $1.00 off manf. coupons. So I assume should have gotten them for free + .03 cents over. The printed manf. coupons for $1 off wouldn’t scan & then the manager told me I couldn’t use more than 1 coupon for the same item. I stated that I should be able to use the store coupon + the manf. coupon, but she wouldn’t let me do it. I wasn’t sure what to do at that point so I had her take them off my purchase. I did purchase other items with both types of coupons. Maybe it was the .03 cents difference that caused the problem?

  • Sammie says:

How can I print out more than 2 coupons for these toothbrushes? I noticed where Crystal said to use 4. ??? Just wondering! 🙂

  • Sherri says:

I’ve never had a problem with the coupon issue, but my 2 stores are ALWAYS out of Reach toothbrushes (the cheap ones).

  • I bought the last 2 my store had on wed night. This would have made a great deal!

  • Dawn says:

I did this deal this morning. Worked perfectly. I bought 4 reach and 2 packs of Twizzlers for the overage and got a $4 rr and $2 rr.

  • Linda says:

I have found when the toothbrushes were on sale at my Walgreens for 99 cents, they would not take the $1 coupon stating that it was coupon fraud because they get $1, but are only charging me 99 cents. The next week I was able to use the $1 coupons to get them for free at the same Walgreens because they were priced at more than $1 (I think actually $4). I bought one, gave the dollar manufacturer coupon, then they had a $3 off Wags coupon on Reach toothbrushes, so I got it for free because you give the Wags coupon last.

  • Lana says:

This did work for me but the store coupon only discounted three of the brushes. I had $2/2 coupons printed a while ago. I paid 83 cents and got back a $4 RR.

  • Joanna says:

I just did this deal this afternoon in IL; I bought 2 Twizzlers, Blistex, and 4 Reach toothbrushes; Used 3 RR (2,1,1), 4 $1 Reach qs and Wag’s store q for the Reach, and had $2.50 OOP. The machine gave me 9 RR back (4,3,2). I was just thrilled!
