It’s Day 13 of the 500 Things Decluttering Challenge today and today we’re supposed to clean out our cars.
I had actually done this recently, so I instead went through the sock basket… And I decided to get rid of the 31 non-matching socks in there.
(How on earth do we have 31 different socks without a matching pair?? Seriously. It’s like there is a sock-eating monster living in a closet somewhere at our house!)
Today’s total: 31 items decluttered
Total for the entire challenge: 519 items so far!
I’m keeping a running total of all my items decluttered during this challenge as I thought it would be fun to not only do Daily Totals but also Overall Totals.
How many items did YOU declutter today?? Leave a comment and let us know.
P.S. You can read more about the Decluttering Course I’m going through here. If you’d like to join me in going through it in January and get the videos, information, and printables every day, you can go here to purchase and get it for just $5.99 right now!

I save old socks to make cloth diaper wipes. Recently, my wool dryer balls started unravelling, so I made them sock slip covers.

Have you looked under your washer and dryer?

I cut the foot off some socks to put over glasses to help prevent the glass from sweating & keep the beverage cold a little longer. I’d like them to work to keep a hot cup of tea warm longer! We definitely would not need 31. Although, if you finished the edges, they could be decorated & be a start on Christmas gifts!

Kim,
What a fantastic idea, especially if you have cute or fun socks.

Way to go on hitting your goal of 500!!! It’s hard to imagine, that we would have that much stuff, trash, things to donate, etc. I got 3 things out of the car yesterday for trash, and I’m at a total of over 421 for the challenge. Day one I quit counting after 100, so that’s why I don’t have an exact number. Loving this challenge!!!

I recently read somewhere that all the lint in the dryer traps was really the missing socks! It gave me quite a chuckle ?

I finally decided to follow in my husband’s footsteps (no pun intended) and own all the same kind of sock, so if I lose one, it doesn’t ruin a whole pair. In my case I do still need a couple of outliers (one pair of warm fuzzy socks and a pair of knee length socks for dressier occasions), but having all my everyday socks match each other makes sock matching SO much easier.

I feel the same way about socks! My goodness there is ALWAYS at least one that has lost its mate in my girls laundry.

I know! I can go through my house and clean every nook & cranny, and I never find those single socks that always disappear into thin air. Whoever can solve that mystery deserves a medal!

30 items today, 953 total.
Congratulations Crystal on hitting the 500 mark.
