We spent this afternoon pretending like we were trying out for American Ninja Warrior (see a picture here)! In the same spirit, I did a ninja-like decluttering of my closet for the 500 Things Decluttering Challenge today.
All in all, I got rid of 25 things (which was today’s goal). I had a little trouble hitting that goal, but I decided that single socks that were missing a partner could count, too. 😉
Today’s total: 25 items decluttered
Total for the entire challenge: 488 items so far!
I’m keeping a running total of all my items decluttered during this challenge as I thought it would be fun to not only do Daily Totals but also Overall Totals.
How many items did YOU declutter today?? Leave a comment and let us know.
P.S. You can read more about the Decluttering Course I’m going through here. If you’d like to join me in going through it in January and get the videos, information, and printables every day, you can go here to purchase and get it for just $5.99 right now!

I dont see this every day but I look for it. I havent kept count but I have 4 trash bags and a basket! and that doesnt include all the trash or recycle stuff! I’m moving in a few months and choosing what seems like a small thing each day is great!

My total is only 90 items but that is better than no items gone. I’m happy.

Everybody is doing such a great job!!! The closet is always one of the hardest to declutter. We want to hang on to everything!

I should have counted the items but I think I would be in the 1000’s. We deep cleaned our unfinished basement. I have also been decluttering atleast one drawer or cabinet/closet daily, It feels awesome! Thank you for the motivation.

What was the specific challenge for that day? Thanks!

Are we suppose to be getting daily emails about what we are suppose to declutter? I’ve not gotten any. I’ve never asked for money back on anything I’ve ever purchased but feel like I totally wasted my money on this one. I’ve not done a single challenge because I hadn’t gotten any info about it other than reading Crystals post later in the day. Very disappointed….

I am not sure of my real total thus far… “Let it go… let it go” has become my theme for this challenge. Because I grew up in a financially-challenged large family, I tend to hold onto things because …” you never know when you will really need it.” This has not been just a physical decluttering, but a spiritual one as well. If I am being a good steward of what God has blessed me with, I don’t hold onto things but will release usuable items to be invested in the Kingdom. Blankets piled in closets have gone to ministries for the homeless…. craft supplies to church and mission’s ministries… lots of items to recycling and donations.

I found 10 more items, including some singleton socks that had holes and no matches that went to the garbage. On one sock, a very nice expensive trouser sock, I almost thought I’d keep it in case I come across the pair– then I reminded myself I don’t even wear those socks and saving 1 sock in hopes of finding the other is silly if you never even wear it. So I let it go. Sometimes each item feels like a struggle around here.
10 more items makes for an even 250 items gone!

Woohoo!!!!

110 items today, 923 total.
