Are you joining us for the 12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge? If so, it’s time for our weekly check-in to post our progress.
July’s Challenge:
We’re focusing on developing the habit reading more. I grow and learn so much through the books I read — which is why I included this as part of the 12 Months to a Healthier You challenge. I think filling our mind with good things can transform our whole life — from the inside out.

My Reading Challenge for July
I’m hoping to read at least 20 books in July.
I’m also hoping to keep up with January’s habit of exercising at least 4-5 times every week, February’s goal of eating a big salad at least six times a week, March’s goal of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, April’s goal of cutting back on sugar, May’s goal of getting at least 7.5 hours of sleep every night, and June’s goal of sticking with my morning routine
This Week’s Progress:
I read 4 books last week — yay! That’s progress over last week’s 2 books. And since we’re taking a roadtrip this week, I’m hopeful that I’ll have time to read even more. We’ll see!
I hit my water goals six of the days, ate a salad six days, got around 8 hours of sleep almost every single night (woot!), did a fairly good job of sticking with my morning routine, exercised 4 times, and had dessert once. I’m so encouraged with how these challenges are actually turning into true habits for me — and hopefully lifelong changes!

PS I forgot to add that I’ve been listening to audio books, while doing dishes and such. It’s a new habit I hope to develop to get more reading done…

We’re on an extended family vacation and that means lots and lots of quality time with my kids and husband! The routine has changed some what of course! But still exercising every day: lots of hiking, jogging, swimming/ eating fruits & veggies at every meal ( and also changing my family’s diet!), I’ve been mostly hitting my water goal ( as well as lots of green tea goal), I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night. Keeping up with my morning routine, replaced all of my desserts with fruit ( or nothing) but still allow myself an occasional treat in the afternoon ( like ice cream with the kids on the beach:)). And I actually started writing a children’s story- something I always wanted to do!- SO reading less. Next week we’re going back home, to a more standard routine! Good luck everyone!

I’ve been offline a lot lately trying to meet my reading goals. I didn’t realize how much I was behind in my Bible reading! I did lots of late nights and early mornings, barely washing clothes and dishes, though I DID complete my reading goal for the month! Yay! I’m now caught up on the current week I’m supposed to be on for my Bible, and I’m reading books that I haven’t read before. I’m going to try to start reading other books now, too, and also pick up all my other habits and get back into routine again.

Ugh. It seems like I never have time to read! Whenever I have extra time I am always trying to do chores. Hopefully I’ll be able to motivate myself to get in with these challenges..I started in January doing excersizes..and that lasted about two weeks. I know..terrible! But after our “big move” hopefully we will get settled and I’ll be able to start up again. I actually have some quick questions I hope you will be able to answer. My husband has just been given a job in Nashville! We live in ny and he is expected to start work late august…pretty quick I know! I was wondering if you have any good tips and posts about getting organized and packed up fast for a move. Also any good posts on selling houses quick and getting a good price for them? I would also appreciate hearing on the best areas around nashville to live, and if you know of any good houses around to rent at a reasonable price. I know this is asking a lot, but I don’t know anyone in nashville..nor do I know much about nashville as this past weekend was our first trip. If you have time I would love to hear from you. God bless you and your family!

That’s exciting!

You might check out Murfreesburo or Spring Hill for housing — if it’s not too far away from where he’ll be working. Those cities typically have much less expensive housing options.

I kept up with all of my changes this past week except for the reading. I did just awful and didn’t even read anything. But this week I’m off to a better start, so I’m hopeful I will reach my goal.
I hope you get lots of reading time in while on your trip.

Reading about all of the books that you read always inspires me to read, too! This week, I read a book on William Wilberforce. Also, I exercised 6 days (running, strength training, riding, biking, walking) and probably ate a salad on most days and will have one for lunch today. Keep inspiring!

I will pick up this challenge after I’m done with school. The only thing I’ve been reading lately are textbooks, and I’m exhausted. The semester is almost over, though. 🙂

I didn’t get in on this when you first started this challenge, so I’m starting today. I’m going to start with January’s challenge and work my way up. Especially in hearing the way this has helped you, I’m feeling motivated Thanks for the inspiration as always!

My goal has been 2 pages from Ultimate Conversation by Charles Stanley during my bible time and 1 chapter a day from Boundaries with kids(thanks to a recommendation from a reader) when my girl goes down for a nap.
I should get off here and go catch up on boundaries though! 🙂
