Jesse and I spent time really discussing what my focuses should be for 2014 and we nailed down four areas that are my priorities for this year:
- Marriage: to continue to invest time and energy to strengthen and nurture our marriage and make it one of the greatest priorities
- Mothering: to continue to invest in our children with the goal of teaching them character, life skills, and raising them to be responsible adults
- Myself: to make my health a priority and to invest in my personal growth as a Christian, business owner, writer, speaker, and leader
- MoneySavingMom.com: to invest time into blogging — not just overseeing the business and my team, but making writing content pieces one of my top blogging priorities
Having these specific areas determined at the beginning of the year is really helping me to prioritize and giving me much clearer direction on when, where, and what to say no to this year.
Here’s my progress for my 12 goals for 2014:
Marriage Goals
1. Read 6 marriage books. (I’ve finished two marriage books so far.)
2. Write 50 love notes to Jesse. (I’ve written 16 love notes so far.)
Mothering Goals

I love the way you are so specific and serious about goal setting. I really aspire to be more like you that way.

I’m curious to know what kind if cooking course you will take the kids through?

I’m new to clear goal-setting as a way of life, having just read Say Goodbye to Survival Mode last week! However, the book really inspired me to start setting regular goals, including daily and weekly ones. My primary focus is on paying off our family’s credit card debt, so I started a blog for public accountability and support. I borrowed the concept of public goal-setting and reporting from this and many other great blogs, and I can already feel the difference in the way I live my life. Thank you for the inspiration!

Hi,
I really like the idea of setting goals and working towards them. In my family we just recently started setting weekly goals and it helps everyone know what is going on and what they should be working on. I do have a question regarding your book goals. I love to read and try to do at least a bit every night (I have 3 boys – 6,5 and almost 2 so days are a bit busy). Reading 150 books seems like a huge number. It’s 3 books a week! How do you plan on accomplishing that? And what qualifies as a book?
