The last few months have been really, really full… moving, unpacking, adjusting to our new life in TN, and many, many trips. So when I landed back in Nashville on Saturday afternoon, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I made it through, by the grace of God, and I’m still in one piece and not completely exhausted!
And now I get to go into my summer reprieve — which I’ve been so looking forward to! I’m all about working hard, but I’ve also learned that seasons of rest are so very important. And the hard work makes those seasons much sweeter and rewarding.
I pretty much didn’t accomplish much of anything on my goal list last week, but it was a good week and many good lessons were learned and memories made, so I’ll take it. 🙂
Last Week’s Goals:
Marriage/Mothering/Homemaking Goals
1. Start a new read-aloud with the kids.
2. Have a movie night with Jesse.Personal Goals
3. Exercise 4 times.
4. Go to bed by 10:30 p.m. every week night.
5. Finish reading Breathe, I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn’t), and The Traitor’s Wife.
Business Goals
6. Tweak my presentations/slides for FlameFest.
This Week’s Goals:
Marriage/Mothering/Homemaking Goals
1. Read 4 chapters of The Four-Story Mistake and read 4 chapters of The Mouse and the Motorcycle
2. Have a movie night with Jesse.
3. Try making a Homemade Latte.
4. Make more Homemade Lip Gloss with Kaitlynn.
Personal Goals
5. Work on reviewing and memorizing Romans 1 and Romans 2:1.
6. Exercise 4 times.
7. Go to bed by 10:30 p.m. every week night.
8. Finish reading Breathe, I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn’t), Wine Bar Theory, True Beauty, Atlas Girl, Unstuff, and The Traitor’s Wife. {I am going to try to read a book everyday — which may be shooting way too high, but since it’s summer and it’s a quieter week, I think I’ll probably have at least an hour or two for reading every afternoon and evening before bed. We’ll see!}
Business Goals
9. Shoot two videos for an upcoming media project.
10. Finish all the details and writing the copy for an upcoming product launch.

I absolutely love your webpage. It has definitely been encouraging to me to read the post you have and also to set goals for myself and my family. I’ve also started my own blog to help to inspire others and to teach couponing to people that may not know how. I’m just beginning and love to look at your blog to stay motivated! Thank you

Personally, I’m a tea girl myself, and I don’t like the taste of coffee at all. But, if I did, I would definitely try this recipe because it actually looks good!
My substitute treat for coffee is a chai tea recipe that I found a while back in an old edition of the “Better Homes & Garden Cookbook.” It easily rivals any chai tea that can be bought at Dunkin’ Donuts or other coffee/tea shop!

Just curious if you ever struggle with anxiety about flying or if you don’t mind at all, considering the amount of flying you do?
Crystal Paine says
I don’t love flying, but I’ve learned mostly be able go “into a zone” and stay focused on other things when on a flight and am able to distract myself from thinking about flying and that helps. I know that some people have a really intense fear of flying and I’ve never had that, which I’m grateful for, because it would make traveling much more intense and draining.

Glad to hear you had a bit of a break last week and had some time to enjoy life with your family. I was able to accomplish some of my goals from last week, but I’m hoping to do a better job this week. However, like you I’m glad for the lessons that I learned last week. Even though I didn’t accomplish all my goals I got some things done that I hadn’t expected to do. I hope you have a great week!

We all have weeks where we don’t accomplish our goals. But with the busyness that you have had lately, I’m surprised you accomplished what you did! Good job and enjoy the rest!

Aren’t quiet weeks the best? We are looking at one where the only thing scheduled was postponed until next week! I’m really looking forward to it and I think my messy house is as well. 🙂 Hope you get lots of reading and relaxing with your family in this week!

The Melendys book series looks very interesting, but my local library doesn’t have it. I wonder if you have any other book suggestions for kids that are similar? I’ve been wanting to find some books about successful people that are geared towards kids so that they can see how much work and failure goes into “making it big” to kind of inspire them to work hard.

There are a bunch of suggestions and ideas in these posts here: https://moneysavingmom.com/money-saving-mom-search-results?cx=007411191005105397513%3Aunk5vrqj0se&cof=FORID%3A11&ie=UTF-8&q=read+alouds
