Crystal, your freezer cooking is motivating me. I’m going to try it this Saturday for the first time in years. Hoping to make up a big batch of black bean burgers. 🙂 Thanks for the ongoing motivation!

I was able to get all but two goals done last week. Much better than I have in the past few weeks. I also finished the first book on my reading list this week. It was a quicker read than I thought it would be.
Happy Anniversary to you!

I have never been a goal setter but last week I decided to give it a try as I was off of work and had twelve million things to get done for the back to school, work rush. I was amazed how much I was able to accomplish just for the thrill of crossing it off my list. I was even able to paint the bathroom :). So this week my husband and I sat down on Sunday morning and wrote down what we wanted to accomplish this week and then broke it down into days. It’s only Tuesday but I feel like my house has not been this clean in a long time, my kids have never been more read to and have studied so well in a long time. Thanks for the idea and inspiration. Has definitely made the week flow so much better 🙂
Jamie says
Hey Audra, your comment caught my eye. Awesome that you were able to get your husband involved! Way to go!

Goal-setting first-timer here! Starting on Wednesday, after New Year’s, meant lots of running around at the end of last week! This week it’s all go…
Victoria says
Congratulations on 10 years of marriage. Congrats also on already finishing one scarf for your girls and getting going on another, I find doing a few identical projects after another to be a confidence booster as I get faster each time. Hope you feel 100% by your weekend away.
Sandy says
Well, I’m on board with setting weekly goals beginning today. Love how you break down goals into various areas of your life.

Happy Anniversary! 10 years is awesome! I just linked up last week’s goals, as I don’t post my new goals until Wednesday. I’ve started having a weekly Facebook “working party” where we meet on my blog’s Facebook wall and try to accomplish things we’ve been procrastinating on that we can get done in 15 minute increments. We work for 15 and then chat for 15, for a total of 2 hours. Last week was our first one, but it was a lot of fun. We’d love for you or any of your readers to join us!

I have a question about your daily dockets forms. I am curious. Do you really print a page out for each day of the week? I am finding that I use the same page for 2 days maybe? This is the page I wish we had an app for. LOL! I am starting to plan my day the night before and I do so much better that way. Thanks so much for sharing all your “tools”. 🙂
Crystal says
I typically print out a page for each day except Sundays, since I take them “off”. And the app is becoming more and more of a possibility… hang tight there and we’ll see what happens! 🙂
Jennifer says
I just finished For the Children’s Sake — great book! Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Crystal says
I’m really enjoying it! Going through it slowly so I can savor and digest it well.
Lisa Kanagy says
Crystal, I have always wondered about your love notes to Jesse. Not the you need to reveal everything that you write in them but can you share some inspiration on that? I do love my husband and enjoy him, etc. we have been married for 23 years – YAY!! so just curious about that one goal. thanks for the insight. Lisa

I try to change things up each week. This week, I’ll likely be writing and thanking him for how well he took care of us while we have been sick… giving specific examples of things I appreciated. Other weeks, I might do something really mushy. Some weeks I might share what I’m praying for him or a character quality that I appreciate about him.
And I change up the method of writing the notes — sometimes I hide the note, sometimes it’s a letter, sometimes it’s a text, sometimes an email…. I never want to get stuck in a rut!
Stacey says
Thank you for writing a little more information about this. I am sure you do this out of the goodness of your heart, you truly appreciate him , and don’t necessarily expect anything in return.. but out of curiousity does he write you a love letter back? A text or email is pretty easy to respond to but sometimes when its an actual letter it may not be.. or I guess how does he acknowledge it?
Crystal says
Yes, he writes me love letters fairly often! 🙂
Kimberly says
2003 must have been the year of the wedding. We have our 10 years in June.
I’d love to see a pattern for the scarves you’ve been making. I just finished knitting my first hat on Saturday….little “I Love You” for the hubby! My next knitting project will be matching hats for my boys and a Starbella scarf for me!
melissa says
We both have write Love letter to our hubby!

I find your goal posts so motivating! And I love that they are broken down into different areas!

I was kinda lagging on posting mine, but they are up. Thanks for sharing yours and asking us to keep going with you. I am LOVING A Woman’s Place book. I am reading it along with you 🙂
Crystal says
Isn’t Lynn Austin such a fantastic author?!? I want to read all of her books.
Michelle Zielicke Murphy says
This is the first book of her’s that I have ever read. I am enjoying it so far. I am not a fiction reader either, but I do have a few that I like. I think she is going to be on my short list. 🙂
Diane says
Happy Anniversary! We’re ill at my house, too, so survival, tidying up and keeping up with dishes and laundry are my goals.
Pat Fenner says
Love this post…and the tool you provide! Thank you so much…
I added it to a post I recently did on New Year’s resolutions – very relevant 🙂
Looking forward to a highly focused and productive year…

I am inspired and impressed with your goals, but I really struggle with getting up early/going to bed early. I’m just curious – do you still try to get up at 6 when recovering from the flu? I work full time and try to get up early to exercise before I have to leave, but if I force myself too day after day I always end up getting sick and I’ve wondered if the lack of sleep contributes to it. I feel like I’m always choosing between sleep and exercise. (Sleep usually wins!)
Crystal says
What if you were to just do it 3-4 times a week and then allow yourself to sleep in the other 3-4 days? Also, are you going to bed early enough?
I slept in one morning. The other two mornings I woke up early because I was in so much pain, not because of my alarm clock. But I totally think that rest is one of the best ways to recover from sickness and had made the mental exception that I would allow myself to sleep in past six if I were sick or on vacation. I just didn’t expect to be sick right off the bat this year. 🙂
Kim says
Off to a great start on this year’s goals and excited to see how God works in it all!
Thanks again for the encouragement, especially about breaking our goals down into bite-size pieces.
