Family/Mothering Goals
1. Read five chapters each of Quest for Truth:Taken and Thomas A Edison: Young Inventor aloud to the children.
2. Start one-on-one homeschooling times with each of the children {I’ve been doing this with Kathrynne, but not consistently with Kaitlynn and Silas, so I re-did our daily routine this weekend so that I could start meeting one-one-one with each child every day.}
3. Go on an overnight date with Jesse. {We’re supposed to try camping out — if I don’t chicken out! Ahem. I’m not much of a camper!}
Personal Goals
4. Finish reading The Three R’s. Start another book. {I have a stack that I’m trying to decide from!}
5. Run at least five times.
6. Finish listening to Integrity: The Courage to Meet the Demands of Reality.
7. Write and send two handwritten notes.

Crystal,
I like your idea of a “To Answer” email folder. I seem to be inundated by emails hourly – regarding my church, volunteering for organizations, friends, questions about things I post on my blog, family, and more. It seems to take up so much of my time or my emails I need to answer get lost in the mix. I actually cleaned my inbox out last week and discovered an email regarding a wedding present I had bought from William Sonama. It had failed to be delivered b/c the bride and groom were on their honeymoon. The company didn’t refund my money b/c the item was returned to them. Had I not found that email, I would have been out a present or $40. They have since mailed the package, but wow – I have to get a better hold on the emails! Thanks for the great idea : )
Crystal says
Having a to answer file has revolutionized my email productivity. I’d highly recommend it!

It is super encouraging to me that you give yourself “easy” weeks. And also that you don’t cross everything off each week. Thanks for being so real with us!
Nicole says
Kudos to you for getting your entire list of goals accomplished last week!

Weekly Goals posted!
Good luck on the camping! I am not a fan of camping, either, but have agreed to give it a try this summer. My husband likes to camp and we haven’t ever taken the boys. I’m sure it will be an adventure! 🙂
Natalie says
Made pop tart recipe yesterday…it’s perfect! 🙂 Have fun with them.
Betsy @ Romance on a Dime says
Thank you so much for this weekly encouragement to write down our goals!! It’s been very good for me, and I’ve been seeing that I really can accomplish so much in the mornings.
I’m definitely going to check out some of the other links here and be inspired!

Setting up goals every week has really helped me stay on track. I did not complete every goal but at least I know that a lot of things got accomplished. Thank you for the link up.

WOW! Yay you on all your goals! I’m finally getting back into the swing of things now that the 1 year old extravaganza is over LOL 🙂

It looks like you had a very successful week. I’m hoping that blogging about my weekly goals will help me to stay on track too. 🙂

My goals for the week include finishing 2 papers, my project, and studying for 2 exams! Whew!
Then this weekend I hope to catch up on blogging and work in the garden 🙂

After a week of sickness, taxes, and helping my husband proof-read his final paper for graduate school, I’m looking forward to being able to focus on my household goals this week – I’m cleaning out every one of my kitchen cupboards, Can’t Wait!

SO…family starts arriving from out of state on Wednesday (including 4 grandchildren ages 4 and under…can’t wait!), decorating Thursday and Friday, rehearsal Friday night, WEDDING Saturday, clean up, church and family time Sunday before they start to leave. I even have next week’s goal: RECOVER 😀 Praising the LORD for this wonderful blessing!!!

Your goals inspire me to be more intentional! Thanks for sharing! 🙂 I made a list of my top 10 for the week too! We’ll see how well I hold to them.

This year has been declared our camping year by my husband so I am along for the ride too! We all slept in the backyard on Saturday night and then started researching cots/mats Sunday morning. lol! The kids are super excited, so I’m looking forward to the memories. We should pitch tents together (or watch the guys do it?). =)

This has been on my heart a lot lately:
Bradford Torrey 1875
Not so in haste, my heart!
Have faith in God and wait.
Although He linger long,
He never comes too late!
He never comes too late;
He knoweth what is best.
Vex not thyself in vain;
Until He cometh rest.
Until He cometh, rest,
Nor grudge the hours that roll;
The feet that wait for God
Are soonest at the goal,
Are soonest at the goal
That is not gained by speed;
Then hold thee still my heart,
For I shall wait His lead!
SandyB says
That is such an encouragement! Thank you for sharing! God’s timing is not always mine, but it is always perfect 😀

I hope your family does start camping. It has been the greatest bonding for our family. We didn’t start until my son was about 11 years old … always waiting for the money to buy a camper…. but I wish we had started when he was younger because it really made for some great family memories. He LOVED being in the camper close to us even as a teenager. It was like a teeny tiny home. We had his 12th birthday party in our camper with a Survivor theme. And as he got older, he brought friends on our trips. We even had two exchange students that we took on some extended trips. Lots of great fun then, and now my husband and I are looking forward to even more travel with it as we near retirement age.
Best purchase ever!!!
Jen says
We purchased a new camper two years ago, which I am happy to say even though we didn’t pay cash, it is officially paid off as of today! It is our home away from home when camping with all the modern luxuries (shower, fridge, stove). It is the only way I agree to go camping.

Oops…could you remove #17? I linked the wrong post (it’s about our trip to Target)…sorry!

I got a lot done last week. My house is looking so good thanks to your organizing series. This week I am hoping to get some more gardening done and keep up with your 4 weeks to a more organized home. I can’t wait to hear how the homemade pop tarts turn out.
Crystal from Crystal's Ramblings says
I have been off track for the past two weeks and didn’t even do weekly goals. I definitely felt out of sorts, but I am back on track. I even posted them on my fridge!
I am working on rereading your book and revised my schedule as well. I was shocked at how much time I DON’T have when I actually look at it on paper. No wonder I am always scrambling.
Here are my goals for the week, which even include a link to sappy love story about our 10th Dating Anniversary Date:

Oh I love to camp! It is so fun for us, we go at least 2 times a summer as a family! We even took the youngest when he was a newborn! Much easier now that he is 2! What I am amazed at is you finding time to spend homeschool tiem with each of them seperate. My oldest 2 are the only ones I school. They are 8 (2nd-3rd grade) and 6 (k & 1st) witht eh baby running free, and while we sit and I take time with each of them I can’t see how I could spend quality time with them schooling and quality time not school. Just curious how much time are you tring to give them? I do give my 6 year old a bit of seperate time because he is struggling with reading. I can only imagine when I start really teaching the toddler.
Carol@simple_catholic says
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been camping. I’m not a “woodsy” type of person, either. 🙂 If you go, I hope you have a great time!
Daily Citron says
Crystal, I’m continually amazed at how good you are at reaching your goals! How do you have time to read so many books? Do you not watch TV at night? I’m trying to figure out how you’re so darn efficient with your time…
-Viva, from The Daily Citron
Crystal says
Yes, I rarely TV — except for the occasional times when we have cable in a hotel room or a show we are following online. Books are much more interesting to me! 🙂
Courtney says
Have fun camping! I am definitely NOT a camper & luckily, my hubby isn’t either!
Janet says
I am a camping wimp too. My major requirement is a real bathroom nearby and, if for more than one night, a hot shower.
Bridget says
Thank You for adding me!

You forgot get ready to come to Joplin and speak at MOPS!! ( we are super excited!!)
Crystal says
That will be on next week’s list! 😉 I’m so excited to meet you all!
The Prudent Homemaker says
This week’s goals:
Weed the garden. This may or may not include pulling up the bolted Swiss chard that is now over 7 feet tall (I will trade that for eggs).
Plant basil and squash from seed.
Plant tomato plants. I already have my tomatoes in, but a friend brought over several more plants that he bought (he over-bought) and I am going to see if I can fit some of them in somewhere. Any extras will go to a friend.
Finish the dress I started and cut out at least 2 more for my 5-year-old. Hopefully I can get a second dress made.
Finish the summer pajama pants that I had almost finished for my oldest before the baby was born.
Put away all outgrown clothing (a MAJOR task).
Make a small batch (or two) of jam.
Find the baby monitor. I am going to need to use it this time (to hear the baby over the other children) and I have no idea where it is. I usually don’t use it, and it wasn’t where I thought it was, so I’ve got some searching to do.
Drink lots and lots of water so that I can feed this baby.
Take pictures of the new baby!
Katie says
Congratulations on your new baby!! Is the baby a boy or a girl?
Love and blessings to you and your family:)
The Prudent Homemaker says
Thank you! I had a girl on April 14th.
Sara@Save Money, Live Joyfully says
You are amazing, Brandy! The week after my baby’s born, I might get one thing crossed off that list! I honestly don’t know how you do it!
I’m still grieving the loss of sleep I’m going to incur now that I can’t “sleep when he sleeps” because my older child doesn’t nap. I’ve heard one baby to two is the hardest :/
Margaret says
You made my smile, you also made me tired just thinking of keeping up with you.. I raised 4 children loved every minute of it, grew it all, canned it all, dried it all, baked it all made everything home made…enjoy every minute it goes so quickly…you made my day…
Victoria @Snail Pace Transformations says
Wow! you are going to run 5 times! can you make 2 count for me since I won’t be running at all this week? Oh, and I am cracking up about the camping comment. We bought our family a pop up tent trailer off Craigslist last summer (with cash of course) with an air conditioning unit because my hubby and I are not great campers either, but our kids love it. Oh and I always make sure to get a spot real close to the best bathrooms in the campgrounds (our pop up doesn’t have one).
Jen @ Master the Art of Saving says
Woo hoo! Great job on achieving all your goals last week. 🙂
Amanda says
Oooh homemade pop tarts! I may have to try that one. I’m up to my ears in chicken and ham today!
Heather @ Work At Home Market says
The last couple of weeks I’ve had too many “irons in the fire” or so to speak. So I’m trying to just focus on one specific area with work. Hopefully, it will help me to get ahead!
