Christmas Gift Guide: Zojirushi Bread Machine (and win one, too!)

by Crystal on December 9, 2010

This Christmas Gift Guide is underwritten by Pier 1. Pier 1 is your one stop for unique, imported decor, gifts, furniture, glassware and more this holiday season.

If there’s one tool in my kitchen I would never want to be without, it’s my bread machine. My aunt and uncle got me one as a wedding gift and I used it so much it finally was giving out.

Just around the time it was starting to breath its last breathe, my dad surprised me with a Zojirushi Bread Machine for Christmas. Let me tell you, this bread machine is the king of bread machines! It’s high-tech and offers quite a few different options — including a dough cycle, which I use the most. It’s also roomy, so you can make larger loaves and bigger batches of dough.

My favorite thing about the Zojirushi Bread Machine is that it has two kneading paddles. This creates a much better and softer texture in the dough which translates to softer, better-shaped bread and rolls.

I love that I can stick all the ingredients in the bread machine for Bread Machine Buttery Rolls and and hour and a half later, the dough is ready to be shaped into rolls. No mixing, no kneading and no worrying about setting a timer. Truly, in about ten minutes of total prep time, I can have a hot and fresh batch of rolls made.

We also think the Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls qualify as just about the best Cinnamon Rolls ever. They are so much less time-consuming to make than from-scratch cinnamon rolls. And no one will ever be able to tell the difference!

If you’d like to read more details on how the Zojirushi Bread Machine performs, Tammy’s Recipes has a very in-depth and helpful review.

Would you like to win a Zojirushi Bread Machine? To enter to win, just click on the graphic below and type in your name and email address. I’m buying one bread machine for a reader here this week just because I want to bless you all with this appliance that has been such a great help to me! One winner will be chosen and posted next Wednesday.

Oh wow, thanks, Crystal! I’m currently using my mom’s old bread machine and when I try to use the dough cycle on it too many times in one week it overheats. :( Would love to have a brand new one!

Tried my aunt’s breadmaker, but I think this was from when they first started making them. Somehow it didn’t turn off in time, and it burned my bread. I had such a great deal the other day on flour. I’ll be baking everything for a while… So no IHop, no Denny’s when I can make all this breakfast stuff here. Not to mention pies and things!

I have had a bread machine for 13 years but until I got a grain mill this year it hadn’t been used more than a dozen times. Now I make bread every other day and would love to get a new one. This one sounds great. If I don’t win, I may have to put it on my birthday list.

Hi Crystal,
I have heard about the Zojirushi before and was wondering if you use 100% freshly ground flour in it, white flour, or a combination. I have a $3 bread machine from a garage sale and have been afraid to try all freshly ground flour since I don’t think it would develop the gluten enough. Thanks!

I have been secretly hoping to receive a bread machine under the tree this year:) I make bread often for my family – both “quick” breads and loaves – but do it all the old fashioned way. It would be so wonderful to throw ingredients in the bread maker and have it do all the work! Although, I do sometimes count the kneading as an arm workout:) Thanks for such wonderful giveaways!

A friend gave us the same brand rice cooker and it’s AMAZING. It even plays “Twinkle Little Star” when you turn it on and then again when it’s done cooking. There’s different settings for different types of rice and my husband even uses it for steel cut oats. He puts the oats and water in the night before then sets the timer and it’s done when he wakes up the next morning!
I’ve never made bread before and I’ve been reading posts about making your own flour and how affordable/healthy bread making is. I hope I get to start making it for our little family!
