Are you still trying to hit those weight loss goals for 2016, but you’re feeling frustrated that you’ve had trouble staying on track all year long?
We told you all about HealthyWage earlier this year — a site that offers health and wellness challenges and provides cash incentives for losing weight. In addition, they offer social and expert-based support, weight tracking tools, and resources to help you achieve your weight loss goals!
We’ve continued to follow this company because of the steady stream of women who’ve lost weight with the help of HealthyWage’s fun and powerfully motivating system, and so many women have found this program to be extremely helpful and inspiring!
Interested in getting started? Here’s how it works:
You start at the HealthyWage Prize Calculator, where you decide the terms of your weight-loss goal (i.e., amount of weight you want to lose, how much money you’d like to set as your goal amount, etc.). Then, the prize calculator will give you a prize amount based on your terms.
If you achieve your goal, you win your prize! If you lose, your money goes to support HealthyWage, including prizes for people who achieve their goal. It’s as simple as that!
Whether you’re looking for a team-based or personal challenge, the experts at HealthyWage are committed to helping you get on track with your weight-loss goals and actually lose the weight.
Knowing that your own money is on the line makes it especially motivating!
Anastasia won $10,000 for losing 41 pounds, and you can check out her before-and-after set above. Valerie got paid $1,000 for losing 45 pounds. The prize amount depends on several factors, including your weight at the beginning of the challenge, and the amount you are willing to bet.
Valerie explains, “Putting up my own money definitely helped me win. At first, I did not take the weight loss seriously, and many times I wanted to give in to temptation, but the thought of the prize kept me focused. And, as weight started to come off, I was very excited! It was not as hard as I thought it would be once I got my mind focused.”
Are you interested in signing up for HealthyWage?
They are currently offering a special prize exclusively for MoneySavingMom.com readers! If you sign up for your own personal weight loss bet by October 31st, they’ll add an extra $50 to your prize payout if you achieve your goal!

How do I get credit for someone else joining?

What is your stance on deleting comments? I noticed several have been deleted on this post, including one which I considered a very valid question. Thank you for your consideration.
Crystal Paine says
Unfortunately, in order to keep things encouraging and upbeat here, we had to remove some comments because it was starting to go down a path of negativity. I believe all of the questions were answered by HealthyWage in the comments. Feel free to email in personally or ask here, if you have any other questions that weren’t addressed.
Here’s our comment policy (from our FAQ page):
I moderate comments on my blog for one reason–to keep MoneySavingMom.com an upbeat and encouraging blog. Comments I deem to be rude or sharply critical, questioning another commentor’s ethics, or those which could very easily spark a firestorm of debate or which appear to be left solely for the purpose of advertising will very likely be deleted.
Yes, I know I sometimes upset or offend people by taking this hard stance on comments, however, there’s enough negativity and infighting in the world without this blog contributing to it, so I’ve decided to do something different and keep things positive here. Thanks so much for your understanding!

How intriguing!! After a lot of research on their website, I still couldn’t figure out how we “prove” our weight loss journey… What would stop someone from saying they’ll lose 100 lbs and bet big when they actually only lose 10 in real life? And it wasn’t clarified if you paid your bet amount to HealthyWage each month, or if you are on track with your goal do you not have to pay anything? This is incredibly interesting to me and I’d love to hear about the step by step details after someone joins to get a better idea of the whole picture! Thanks so much!

Hi Kara,
Verification is a very important part of our programs! We require 2 verified weigh-ins, one at the start of a challenge and one at the end. There are a few different options for how these verified weigh-ins can be performed – via video that you submit or via a verification form signed by a health professional, such as from your doctor’s office or at a local gym.
You can find out more about this process, and other challenge rules, at this link: https://www.healthywage.com/rules/HealthyWager-Challenge-Rules/
I’m happy to answer any other questions that you might have!
Thanks,
Kate from HealthyWage

Some women, including myself, have struggled for years to lose weight and to find something motivating to jumpstart weight loss. If something like this helps to motivate someone to start their health-focused journey, then it’s a great resource to share with MSM readers.

It sounds really cool but I didn’t have a good experience. I toyed with the calculator and it said my prize would be between $5xx and $13xx after I input my details. Only after I had to put in my email to get exact prize amount it ended up being $226. That is false advertising and not worth it.
Crystal Paine says
Hmm, I wonder if something was glitching for you. I’ve not heard of this happening to anyone else.
LeighAnn says
Same thing happened to me. I was given a prize range but not an exact until I gave my email and created a password.
Beth says
It’s also a little misleading…It said I would win $333 by losing 13 pounds in 6 months…but if I’m “betting” $50 of my own money each month, then I’ve only won $33 in the end. You are basically getting your own money back?
Crystal Paine says
They are also adding an additional $50 extra to everyone who hits their weight-loss goals, too!
I just re-wrote some parts of the post to make it clearer since there was some confusion. My apologies on that. Hopefully it’s clearer now!
Kate @ HealthyWage says
Hi Beth,
Prize amounts and winnings vary widely based on the amount you want you to lose, how long your wager is for, and the amount that you are betting each month. The financial incentive to be successful is two-fold – not losing the money you’ve wagered AND the additional cash prize. Plus, as Crystal mentioned, we are adding $50 to each prize amount if you place your bet before October 11. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Kate @ HealthyWage says
Hi Heather! The prizes are personalized for each participant based on their demographic information and goals. We don’t know how much we can pay a participant until we know what their goals are. People who are trying to lose more weight and/or are heavier will win more money because it is a bigger challenge for them to hit their goal and they need more money to motivate them to achieve it. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
