It’s Day 7 of the Get Up Early Challenge and for some reason, when my alarm went off this morning, I woke up feeling on edge and irritable. I wanted to just crawl back into bed and try to sleep it off, but I knew I had gotten sufficient sleep, so instead I decided to get up and try spending time reading God’s Word, journaling, praying, hand lettering, and exercising.
It was so good to read about Jacob in the Genesis study this morning and be reminded of who I am in Christ — that my identity is in Him. And I can rest in that as I go about my day.

I’ll be hopping on Periscope at 7:30 a.m. to share some Morning Motivation encouragement and to some thoughts and insights from The 5AM Miracle book. I’d love for you to join me or watch the replay (just download the app and search for @MoneySavingMom).
Are you joining me for the Get Up Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your wake-up goal this morning.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

I was doing great at getting up back in the warmer months, but since it turned cold, I just want to stay in bed! I’m going to have to check out your challenge.

I so hear you on this!

Today was my first day trying the challenge. I realized that I really need to get to my office earlier, as I am more productive first thing, and less so in the middle of the day. This will also help me to be able to *maybe* leave a little earlier each day. (I am self-employed.)
So I have decided on a 9p-5a sleep schedule. Previously I was getting up at 5:40. The earlier wake up time allows me to shower and dress before anyone else, so that I can be ready to leave at 7:30, right after everyone else.
I was successful today, despite it being a snow day (or maybe because it is) for everyone else. Optimistic for tomorrow!

Way to go! I’m glad you’re joining us!

As I woke up this morning to my 2 year old asking for a cheese stick and raisins, LONGING for coffee…I realized that I just need to commit. I need to go to bed earlier and wake up before the kids get up.
Before, when I was in the habit of getting up while the house was still quiet, I loved my time in the Word with my coffee, then getting some things up before the pitter patter of little feet hit the floor.
Going to hit the hay early tonight and do what I know will make my days a WHOLE lot smoother.

Well don’t feel bad…. I don’t know why but I just felt so sleepy this morning and I actually snoozed my alarm for 30 extra minutes. I finally got up when I heard my husband getting on his treadmill. But after a good shower, reading the Word of God, coffee and a good breakfast I’m feeling much better 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement every day….

I’m so glad you’re feeling better… me, too!

Woke up early today, but so did my daughter. Overall though, I think it’s a win! 🙂

I so wanted to join in on the 5am challenge! My husband coaches two sports and we both teach at local high schools so he has tons of late nights. On top of that, I have multiple sclerosis so he really felt that if I committed to getting up earlier, I’d just “run out of gas” that much earlier at night (and I already “run out” pretty early!) 🙂 We’re trying to focus more on streamlining the time we have in the morning and early evenings instead of getting up earlier- so thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

I think that that’s a very wise choice!

I got out of bed at 5:40 after lying there for ten minutes because it was just so darn cold! My kiddos got up with me again, but we got everyone ready and out the door by 6:30. A good morning!

Way to go!!

I love how honest you are in your posts. It lets us know, as your readers, that you are just like us. We all have “grouchy” mornings, and that’s okay to have. But, we can choose to stay grouchy all day, or make it a better day. And, you have written about how you can get up, and start your day, and turn it around. I started doing the gratitude journal in February of last year after reading about it on your blog. I don’t have an “actual” journal, but I have 2 used homeschool tablets, that have now become my gratitude journals. Anyway, after my husband and I do our devotions together in the morning, I go straight to my gratitude journal, and write 5 things that I am thankful for. It makes my day start out so much better, by jotting down the things that God has blessed us with. Thank you for all that you have shared with us on your blog. I love your blog, and I appreciate your sharing, honesty, and humbleness on this blog.

Thanks so much for your kind encouragement! I debated whether to share those details or not because they kind of seemed silly and inconsequential. But I read it to my husband and he said that I should, so I did! 🙂
