Here are the freebies that showed up in my mailbox this past week:
2 books from PaperBackSwap — I’m so bummed that PaperBackSwap is now going to be charging a small amount per transaction. I had some credit in my account that had built up over the years that I was able to use to cover the cost of an unlimited yearly membership. But after that year expires, I’m not sure that I’ll continue to use them. 🙁
1 free Degree Men’s Dry Spray — Jesse was really excited about this freebie! And it was such a generous size, too!
What freebies have arrived in your mailbox recently?
By the way, if you want to start getting great freebies in your mailbox, just start signing up for the freebies I post every day that interest you. Within 4-6 weeks, your mailbox will start filling up with great freebies!

You’ll need to check out Freckles as well. It’s technically a prequel to A Girl of the Limberlost, but you can read them in any order. Two of my favorite books. I own nice copies to keep and paperback copies to loan out.

A Girl of the Limberlost is one of my favorites from when I was young. I just noticed it on my shelves again and thought I should read it again. Now to see you’re reading it. Thanks also to a previous poster who said you can visit Gene Stratton Porter’s home in Indiana. That would be so fun to do someday!

Do you have to return the books or keep them until the next person requests them?
Ellie Wofford says
I just finished reading Girl of the Limberlost! I was walking through the library & just glimpsed it on the shelf. Something about it made me toss it in my pile & I’m glad I did. It was a good story (but I’m quite emotional & the book made me cry more than I are to admit to! lol). Enjoy!

I love Gene Stratton Porter, Girl of the Limberlost is one of my favorite books ever!!

I forgot all about Girl of the Limberlost. I absolutely loved that book when I was a girl. I’ll have to reread it.
I got a deodorant spray for my husband as well and a full size Axe body spray from Target for my middle school boy…

I was thinking I read that if you buy postage through Paperback Swap, there would be no fee…..
Jackie says
That is true Jenni but there is a $0.55 fee to use the prepaid feature. My husband and I talked about it and decided not to buy a year membership. We have been members since 2006 and only order 4-6 books per year.
Mendy says
Very sad about PaperBack Swap — I didn’t have any monetary credit so I now have to pay for books. $0.49 for a book isn’t bad, just not as good as free 🙂
Jenn in Indiana says
Gene Stratton Porter is an author from Indiana. She has a home on Sylvan Lake, in Indiana. It is about 20 min from my house. It is now a state site to tour her property, home and hike the land. Last summer we took our children there and the house is just beautiful. It is set in the time period she was alive and has many of her original furnishings. And the dock and lake setting is just awesome! It was awesome touring the house realizing that she wrote many of her books there.

We are in IN, thanks for the info, we’ll have to check it out!

I’ve been wanting to read girl of the Limberlost for years. I’m amazed that you were able to get a copy on paperbackswap because they sell for full price on Amazon. Please let us know how you enjoy it
Crystal Paine says
I’m excited to read it!
Rosie says
I found a copy at a library sale when I was a girl. Didn’t know anything about it, but caught my attention. It was well loved then, more so now. Very glad I found it and kept it all these years; definitely a treasure.
Kim says
I played the video, but don’t see anything to fill out for a free sample.
Crystal Paine says
I think that free sample might be over with now. 🙁
Hope Zabolinsky says
I use paperback swap and bookmooch. Bookmooch does not have a fee, but people can make a donation to help defray the costs of the website. This is something you may want to use as they are great ways to get books. Bookmooch is where you pay the postage when you mail a book to someone and vice versa.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Alexis says
My kids also love opening them up. It doesn’t seem to bother them that they are never anything they actually use. 🙂 Thanks for the heads-up on the Degree!
Jenna says
The deodorant is actually full size. :). Got one for my husband too!
Crystal Paine says
Such a great freebie! I love it when they are generous and send full-sized products!
