Are you joining us for the 12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge? If so, it’s time for our weekly check-in to post our progress.
July’s Challenge:
We’re focusing on developing the habit reading more. I grow and learn so much through the books I read — which is why I included this as part of the 12 Months to a Healthier You challenge. I think filling our mind with good things can transform our whole life — from the inside out.

My Reading Challenge for July
I’m hoping to read at least 20 books in July.
I’m also hoping to keep up with January’s habit of exercising at least 4-5 times every week, February’s goal of eating a big salad at least six times a week, March’s goal of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, April’s goal of cutting back on sugar, May’s goal of getting at least 7.5 hours of sleep every night, and June’s goal of sticking with my morning routine
This Week’s Progress:
So far, I’ve only read 2 books, but I was also traveling and out of town, so I’m hoping that I’m going to be able to step it up with reading now that I’m going to be home more the rest of this month. We’ll see!
I hit my water goals six of the days, ate a salad six days, got an average of 7.5 hours of sleep (yay!), did a fairly good job of sticking with my morning routine, and had dessert twice. The only area I really bombed was exercise — I didn’t exercise one single day. Yep, bad, I know. But I aim to change that this week!

I’m slowly getting back on track, I think. I’ll get back to par eventually.

I’ve had a great couple of weeks. Exercising regularly- one activity per day- I’ve also added daily 15 minutes sessions of yoga pilates fusion. Getting to those abs!!! I’m slow at getting to new habits- so I’m not setting any special challenge for myself this month. Except maybe read more “content” books and less crime novels. Nothing wrong with crime novels- but I tend to read too late into the night and then – guess what?- I wake up later, get behind on my morning routine, eat too much sugar etc. I’ve introduced a major change- putting my alarm in the other room! My alarm is on my phone. I already sleep better because my sleep isn’t interrupted by the screen that lights up from time to time. But I also get up on time!!! Major change! Also no dessert for the past 10 days! This is huge as I am a major snooze button hitter and sugar eater. The only thing that has been down a bit is my water intake. Planning to work on it next week !!! So far this challenge has been great for me – thank you so much Crystal!

I read several chapters from each of the books I’m currently reading. (I can’t just read one book at a time, so this way I have something great to read no matter what mood I’m in.)
I need to make a point of leaving the phone behind and taking a book to bed instead. I think that would help me get ahead on my reading goals. 🙂

My goal for the month was to read 2 non-fiction books. I’m half way through the faster reading one and only 1 chapter into the other. I hope to knock off a 2nd chapter of the slower reading one this evening, but we’ll see. I’m also trying to do lots of other summer projects. What is it about the summer that makes it so busy?

Any progress is progress, right?? 🙂

It’s hard to keep up with things when you are traveling, I’m sure. I hope you are able to get extra reading time in this week.
I met my goal of 2 chapters for this week even though we started to remodel our bathroom. I’m hoping to get my two chapters in this week early since I’ve got lots of painting to do.
