I just recently started doing this, but only with water and they started growing almost immediately and keep growing. But I wonder if the new growth isn’t as good since there’s no soil.
I don’t have a green thumb, but I’m excited to try this and hopefully see some green onion flowers!
Brandy @ The Prudent Homemaker says
It is just fine to grow them in water. Just make sure to change out the water so it doesn’t get moldy and you’ll be fine.

Awesome, I also use this method, and in addition make my own miracle grow soil mix and plant food as well, to go with these and my other items in my tiered gardens! Thanks!

How do you make your own miracle grow and plant food? I would love to learn!

I think I’ll write Crystal and see if she would share with everyone, as this time of year it would be helpful to a lot of people!

I would love to know this as well, because the store stuff is so expensive!
