Others saw a pesky weed, he saw a beautiful flower to brighten his Mama’s day.
It’s all about perspective.
Become a noticer of the good and beautiful instead of focusing on the hard and ugly things. It will transform your attitude — and maybe even your entire life!

My children today picked my beautiful daffodils and brought them to me (even though I’d prefer them outside). I do love how kids appreciate beauty and how much they want to bring flowers to me. We don’t have dandelions yet, but my children love to bring them to me once we have them.

Dandelions aren’t a weed, but merely a misplaced wildflower. They truly are beautiful! So yellow and sunshiny. Children can see their beauty for what it is.

A friend of mine once wrote a blog post about dandelions. She wrote about how toddlers will only bring you the heads of the dandelions. The following summer that same child will bring you the head of a dandelion but it will have a tiny piece of stem attached. As summers pass the stems will grow longer until finally the child will realize they are a weed and will stop bringing them. It’s a sweet progression of reality. Whenever my children bring me dandelions I smile and gently turn it over and check the stem length. 🙂

When my daughter was 2.5 we were walking past a vacant lot filled with them. She said “mom look at all the dancing lions.” At that moment those weeds turned into beautiful yellow flowers will always be dancing lions.

Children are truly a blessing from The Lord. He teaches us so much through them. I love looking at things through the wonder of my children’s eyes. Thank you for this reminder!

You need to listen to the song by Five Iron Frenzy called “Dandelions.” =)

I love it when my sons bring me flowers.
Around Valentine’s Day my second son (4) brought me a giant handful of yellow “wildflowers” and said, “Here is a yellow garden of love for you mommy.”
Melt my heart.

My 6 year old was recently very excited about all the purple “flowers” that are popping up in our yard. I especially love the pocket full of dandelions that I have after a walk in the park. If only they would stay pretty until we got home:)
There is great Joy in the little things.

I absolutely LOVE when my kids bring me those weed flowers! It shows they are about me and reduces the number of weeds I have to go pick later!

I remember bringing home dandelions to my mom for years when I was little- only to find out years later that she was very allergic to them. But she never told me when I gave them to her- true love from a mom. 🙂
