Is most of your shopping done like this and not at a “regular” grocery store with a lot of coupons?
Sure wish there was an Aldi’s close to me….I see so many good deals there!
Thanks,
Sissy

Have you considered making hummus yourself? I started doing it recently and it’s stunningly easy. Put into food processor: canned chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, water, salt, garlic. Hit “go.” It’s even cheaper and tastier if you cook your own chickpeas, which is easy if you have a pressure cooker, or easy but long if you don’t.

I have made it before and I cooked my own chickpeas and made my own tahini. The end result was okay, but a lot of work.
I need to experiment with it more to come up with a recipe I love that is also easy and inexpensive (if that’s possible!).

It’s strange–homemade is best for lots of things, but I have yet to find a homemade hummus recipe I like . . . or maybe just a tahini that I like. Never thought of making my own (since those jars of tahini are HUGE), but I do have a giant bag o’ sesame seeds, so maybe I’ll give it a try. Sabra is by far the best packaged hummus I’ve ever had but it can be pricey (in the quantities we like to eat, anyway). It would be well worth making my own if it is as good. Think I’ll go see if I can find a knock-off recipe now. . . .
