Look who lost a tooth this week — finally! {Her top tooth has been hanging on by a thread for almost a week. She was determined not to pull it out until it was very good and ready!}
Silas & I made Number Pancakes this week as a preschool project. They were definitely a hit!
I made some pretty good progress on Kathrynne’s scarf this week.
Kathrynne created her own “stilts” using pieces from her Marble Maze. {Hey, while they aren’t the sturdiest stilts ever, I did have to give her props for creatively using what she already had on hand!}
The kids started their ice-skating lessons back up again today.
Both Jesse and I enjoyed hanging out on the ice with them during the free skate time.
Kaitlynn and Silas had fun playing “shop” this week. This was their little sales booth. Yes, Kaitlynn’s still working on learning to spell. 😉
Don’t ask me why they had to sit in the laundry basket, but apparently that was an important piece of their shop set-up. 🙂
The weather has been SO nice here the past two days… which meant we’ve been to the park twice to enjoy it!
So that was a little peek into our week. What was your week like? Tell us in the comments.

Our week went like this.
School, exercising, work, hockey practice, guitar lesson, piano lesson, girl scouts and a 50th birthday party! Love the routine!

Hilarious! In South Africa – where I live – big shopping malls will set up ice rinks for 2 months through summer… I suppose to cool off. In winter? It’s simply too cold!!! Weird. Enjoy

I think I would have had a heart attack about the stilts and fussed endlessly at the kids. Oh my had they broke anything they would have found noses in the corner for 2 days straight if not strung up by their toes and stuck in a closet!!
A week isn’t bad one of tooth (back molar) my oldest refused to remove took us over a month! Her grandmother liked to yank loose teeth so she gained a special fear of it (thankfully her baby teeth are done just one more kiddo to get through).
And yes Mom! If you don’t have cardboard boxes then laundry baskets will do 😉 I remember playing shop with my best friend when I was little we’d finaggle some way up to hang sheets off of her light! And tuck them into dresser drawers and well off of everything to make a ‘tent’ to shop in LOL
Looks like nice weather we’ve had sun but still in the 30’s so extended outside periods not quite here yet for us. I can’t wait for it to get back up around 70! I’m counting the days ’til spring!

I got to meet the amazing, one-and-only Judy Blume this week!! Check out my post & photo at http://daybydaymasterpiece.com/

You have such an adorable family!! Hurray for a lost tooth! That’s always exciting!

We had three teeth lost this week–from three different children! Lots of fun!

I am very glad to see that you get out and enjoy the ice too/ trust me there comes a day when you have to sit back and watch . My friend got on the ice with her girls when she was 36 and broke her hip and leg. The Ironic part is that she had decided she should not due to her age . So it is great that you get out and do this while you are both young as well.

Congratulations on finally losing that tooth!! That takes me back…..! Lucky you on the warm weather, we’ve got 26 degrees and its snowing.

Sounds like a much better week, than the sick one you had LAST week.
We were able to get in BOTH our music lessons this past week. That is a good one for us. Normally we don’t. I am VERY happy about that.
I have to brag on my husband this week. He was able to get some work done on the project in the bathroom. He does not enjoy home improvement projects so I am always happy when he is able to do one and enjoy it!
We also were able to get the pumpkin strained and put up for the year. That was a huge deal for us.
And my husband and I were able to go out on a date this week. Had a great time walking in the mall since it is WAY TOO cold to out OUTSIDE when it is only -14. BRRR. Waiting for summer so we can start running together again. Hoping to go on a 5k run this summer together. 🙂
Now on to next week. I get to stay home ALL week. I am SO excited.

Our week was wet. It started raining on Monday afternoon and didn’t stop until Friday morning. We even got a little snow on Thursday night. We spent a lot of time inside– baking, reading, and playing games. My husband is off until the beginning of March (he works in lawn care) so we had hours and hours of family time! The highlight of my week, though, was Saturday morning when my husband and I got to run our first 2 mile race together! 🙂

So fun, I love the number pancakes! I look forward to when my Silas is a little older to try such a neat learning activity. I have enjoyed how you have brought back the peek into your week posts! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I love the imagination play kids do at those ages! When I was about 5, I was ‘playing store’ in the front seat of my mom’s station wagon. Apparently when it was time for me to leave the store, I opened the door – pre seat-belt era – and gently rolled right out of the car! Fortunately for me she was going very slowly around a turn next to soft grass and I was completely unharmed. It may have been the beginning of my mom’s anxiety issues though 😉

Thanks for sharing your week with us. I enjoy these posts best of all! Pretty quiet week for us. As a child growing up in the fifties and sixties we would make stilts out of the large vegetable cans ( think Hanover green beans or some other about 50 ounce can). Daddy would drill two holes near the top and we would thread a length of rope through and tie it off. Voila! Stilts.

Adorable! Congratulations on the lost tooth!
Thanks for sharing your week.

What a fun week! It’s been too chilly here to brave the park, but I love mid-winter park visits…the kids always nap great afterward! Kudos to you for bringing along the helmets to the ice rink. A co-worker and I were discussing the other day how careful the little ones learning to skate need to be; it’s easy to have a bad head bump.

I love this stage of spelling! She spelled it the very logical way through sounding it out. Our language is so strange! Adorable!

What is it about laundry baskets?? I can never find mine because the kids always have them!! I adore her “closd” sign. Love that.
The top pic of Kathrynne is just precious! She’s really growing up!
We had a slow week. Two birthdays here…my youngest girl turned 8, gulp, and my BABY turned 6…BIG GULP. No babies here anymore. Thank heavens for our 9 month old grandson!! We’re still nursing some sickies along…can’t get rid of this sore throat junk.
I started a new Bible study, Growing in Wisdom and Faith. It’s a study of the book of James by Elizabeth George. Don’t you just love her?!!
And I continue to watch as the Lord works in our marriage, knitting our hearts back together. I am in absolute awe of what He is doing, and so very grateful.
All in all a productive, but slow, week. The kind I like the very best!

Our kids just started playing store as well! It’s been great for them to practice writing numbers!

Crystal,
I have really been enjoying all your own narrative blog posts this year. I think I read that one of your goals was to have more narrative blog posts, and I have really noticed. I look forward to reading them each day. Thank you!

Silas is so cute. I have a son a month younger than him, and I’ve been reading your blog since before he was born, so it’s really fun to see your kids get older even though I don’t know you in person. 🙂

Your children are so precious! I can imagine that Kaitlynn looks just like you did at her age. This week we have been trying to survive. Our daughter, who almost the exact same age as Silas, has tonsillitis for about the 4th time in about 6 months, and you know what they say, misery loves company :). She is having them taken out on Monday morning, and hopefully she will feel much better in a week or so. They have made her so sick, I’m counting on her having much happier days in the future. My husband and I have been setting financial goals this week, along with discussing a new small business opportunity. I have also been working on setting some personal goals with your worksheets, and I am excited about all of the opportunities that are coming our way!
Dawn-One Faithful Mom says
Kayla,
I do hope your sweet girl gets some relief. I had my tonsils out at right around that same age, and it was a miracle for me! It was so long ago though, that I had to spend 2 nights in the hospital!! No outpatient stuff back in the 70’s.
Kayla H says
Thank you Dawn! I had mine taken out at age 5, and I do not remember it being that big of a deal so I am hoping that she will not have any traumatic memories associated with it in the future. She had the surgery yesterday, and last night was tough right before bedtime, but I am hoping that the rest of the week will be better. She has had tonsillitis at least 6 times, and never complained about her throat hurting once. The only reason I knew she was sick is because her behavior had worsened considerably (when she feels bad, she doesn’t know what to do with herself and she becomes very difficult and defiant). She generally has a high pain tolerance, but has been complaining of her throat hurting so I know it must be painful for her, even with around the clock pain meds. I am looking forward to brighter days in the future. She is happy that she will never have tonsillitis again :).

Sounds like a great week in your neck of the woods! I finished knitting a fun birthday gift, read an awesome but heartbreaking historical fiction book (Sarah’s Key, if anyone is interested) and booked my babymoon hotel just in time before the price of rooms went up by almost $50/night!
Sara@Save Money, Live Joyfully says
Your children are getting so big. They are just adorable! Yay for the warm weather! It was nice to get some sunshine here too 🙂
This week was great. My son’s surgery was scheduled for next month which is exciting and wonderful and will allow him to the opportunity to mainstream with his disability. We are so grateful that God has given him the opportunity!
We haven’t had the chance to get out much despite the nice weather…keeping the little guy healthy during cold and flu season as we prep for surgery…so it has been a nice relaxing week to get stuff done around the house and play with the children 🙂
Crystal says
So thankful God has given your son the opportunity, too!
