If you missed the assignment for Day 18, read it here.
I finally got yesterday’s assignment done this afternoon! I cracked up because someone commented saying they were sure my closet floors were going to be spotless…
…Um, yeah, not so much. And I’m a little embarrassed to admit that this is how our master bedroom closet has looked for — gulp — like four weeks.
Thank you all for the motivation to get the closet looking much better! 🙂
And while I was at it, I also tackled these piles that have been sitting in our room for the past week or so… yup, that’s my suitcase still half un-packed from last week’s trip. 🙁
It feels good to finally have the room and closet back in order!
How did you do on Day 18? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

I love your big closet. Growing up we lived in an older home that was built by a builder for his own family. Each bedroom had a build in dressers in the room, walk in closets with two racks to hang clothes on, a build in bookshelf in the closet, upper storage shelf, a light and a shoe rack. All of this was built in. I assumed that most houses must have those too. (my grandparents house had similar closets also) I wish our home had those too now. I couldn’t really appreciate it as a kid but as an adult I know I would love it.

Hey Crystal;
Lady are you for hire???! Your pictures of your Home always look like a showplace!!! Everything is so clean looking, and it looks like Everything has its place. SIGH, I wish that my own Home were as clean looking as yours is!!!
I am working this week really hard, trying to clean room by room. I have my Inspiration from you, and all that you do!!!
Thank-You so much!! 🙂

Hehe! I love having a clean/organized space and I don’t function well at all when there are piles and messes — which can be a good thing and a bad thing. 🙂 I have found that keeping things clutter-free and trying to only own what you love and use really does make life more efficient. But I know that I’m also weird. 😉

Thank you for posting pictures and being such an encouragement! We are all at different places in our home and what we feel is “good enough” and i have read your book and have followed your blog for 4 years (i felt like we were friends before i knew this was a HUGE blog!:) And i have tackled many projects due to your posts! (even waking up at 5:45 to ‘start by day’ -running and being completely dressed before the kids come out of their rooms!) THANK YOU!

I am not sure i could ever put a photo out here. Piles? Mine are mountains! I can hardly get our closet door open and my dresser, I am not even sure where it is any more! LOL

Holi, I can totally relate! 🙂

Completely with you there 🙂

Somehow I had missed your post last fall on how you keep your kitchen counters so neat. I won’t lie…when I first read it/saw the photos, I thought it wasn’t really me. I decided to go that direction and see where I landed in terms of less stuff on the counter and being “homey”. Well, I went REALLY far and I am absolutely loving it. It is so easy to keep clean and neat and when I get ready to bake or cook or unload groceries (really, anything!), I am so glad I put the appliances away. We have the coffee maker, a bread box, my KitchenAid and a utensil holder and that is it. It’s great!! Thanks for the inspiration.

I have to agree, your “organized/clean up posts” crack me up!! Really? That’s a mess to you?! Lol! Sometimes I don’t really see any difference; they’re already so clean & organized! You have 3 children and much life happening! A TEENSY mess in your CLOSET is nothing to “gulp” about! 🙂 But, maybe if I did something to MY messes instead of laughing at what you think is a mess, I’d actually allow people in my home. 🙂 Keep up the good, over-the-top work! 🙂

Aimee-I thought the same thing but tried it in my kitchen and I LOVE it! It is so much cleaner looking, easier to cook, easier to clean. I am almost done with the whole house now and it has made me so much less stressed.
Aimee says
I feel the same way!

I’m so glad that you’re finding that less stuff = less stress and more productivity. I know that’s not how it works for everyone, but it truly is the case with me!

I just finished spending over 2 hours washing down all the surfaces in my daughters room, walls, trim and floor. Just the windows and curtains to go! Then my room of the week is done.
Crystal says
Wow! You’re inspiring!

Not really it wore me out! It is now 8pm and I can barely keep my eyes open. What would have been more inspiring is if I had not let it get that bad in the first place. Oh well, the house is starting to look really good just 2 more rooms to go, and the hallway if I can squeeze it in. I have never gotten this far in my hopes to have a top to bottom clean home by Christmas before and it is thanks to your e-book, it really made me plot out a more realistic step by step plan.
Crystal says
I’m so proud of you!
Oh, and considering that you emailed me at something like 4:30 a.m. this morning, I think you have a reason to be tired! 😉

I know that feeling! Today was my catch up from a busy week of appointments! I had mountains of laundry, sweeping up the kitchen dining room floors, vacuum main floor, schedule mammogram FINIALLY, load/unload dishes, wash pots/pans and wrap gifts. that was my list. I did all but wrap gifts!!! It was good to be home but exhausting catching up. Now we’re off to the kids Christmas concert!

I just crack up when you show your messy pictures. lol They look like my clean pictures! I agree though, it does look much better with it picked up.
Elizabeth says
Love your closet that’s huge! And comparatively yes they are spot less 😉
Crystal says
That was one of the selling factors of this house to me… that we could keep our dressers in the closet!
Elizabeth says
Only thing we looked for was under 60k in the correct school district… which is why my house is held together by duct tape and a prayer and I have to keep the police on speed dial LOL But I’m taking the challenge of the dirtiest closet ever and I dare say I win! Maybe I’ll look at them over winter break but I think I’ll probably forget about them and move on and just have fun with my kiddos since it feels like I never get to see them while they aren’t doing homework. 🙂
