Reader Tip: Earn gift cards by clicking on emails!

by Crystal on October 05, 2012

While you might not be able to earn a gift card in time for Christmas, Katherine emailed in this simple way you can earn a few gift cards every year:

I use My Points to earn points towards gift cards by clicking on emails. My Points sends a few emails each day, which each get you 5 points for clicking through.

I have mine auto-directed into folders in my email and take about 5 minutes to click through them once a week or so. I have been a member of My Points for 6 years and I have earned several $10-$25 gift cards each year. Definitely worth the time investment for me! -Katherine

Be careful with reward port. I have redeamed for 2 gift cards. The first time I had to email multiple times to get my reward. This time, customer service will not return my inquiries about the reward. My Points is great. I have used them for the last 10 years. Never had an issue getting rewards.

I’m having the same problem with getting my reward. I cashed out for a $10 Amazon gift card back in May and I still haven’t received it and I’ve contacted them numerous time without a response.

Same here. I cashed out months ago and have heard nothing back but it’s “pending”

i’ve been using mypoints the same way as katherine, & i’m quite happy w/ the results! however, i am curious how to have certain emails auto-directed into folders; sounds like a lovely idea if i knew how to set it up! any help out there?

Joanna, it depends on what email client you use. Check under options and look for “filters.” There should be a way to “filter” incoming mail into appropriate folders.

thanks, debbie! i think i have it set up properly…

I have also used My Points and been very happy with them. Never had any kind of problem with getting the gift cards I’ve cashed out for. The only caution I would give people is that some of the smaller $$ amount gift cards are a little scare during the holidays because so many people are cashing out and using the as gifts. it just takes a little planning ahead to get the exact rewards you want.

I would highly recommend My Points.

So relieved that it is just not me that is having this current problem with Reward Port. I’ve been using them a few years too. It has just been this year that I did not get a gift card redemption that I submitted. I have e-mailed them twice and have gotten no response at all. Does anyone know what is up with the company? I’m still gathering points, but my last redemption was a big one with no result, so I am wondering if I am wasting my time by continuing on.

I just looked around for reviews on Reward Port and it appears that lots of people are having problems not receiving their rewards. They have an F rating at Better Business Bureau. I have not received my reward from almost 6 months ago. I would not recommend them. Mypoints is GREAT, though! I just cashed out for a $25 Gap gift card (which can be used at Old Navy).

I was with Rewardport for about a year and I finally had enough points to get a $25 walmart giftcard so I submited my information for it and never received it so I canceled my account. I feel that it’s a waste of time. My Points is great,I always receive my rewards!

My Points is fantastic – however I am having trouble with Reward Ports also. I requested a $25 gift card in January 2012 and I have contacted them several times and they will not respond to any of my inquiries. Very poor customer service. I am no longer doing anything with them – since it is appartently a complete waste of time. They are making money for what you do but they are not paying us responsibly.

I love MyPoints! I have been using them for years and I always save my points all year to cash in before Christmas. I just cashed in a $25 gift card to Olive Garden today to use as a gift for a hard-to-buy for couple! If you’re not using MyPoints you are missing out :)

I have a MyPoints account, but when I click through the emails, I don’t get credited with any points. Anybody have a clue what I’m doing wrong?

    • Alicia October 10, 2012 at 05:07 am

Do you mean you’re not getting credited right away? Cause they don’t tend to credit you right away, it sometimes takes a day or two for the points to show up. If you’re having problems I’d suggest emailing them, they’re pretty nice and helpful.

Please please please take down the part about rewardport. I requested a $25 amazon gift card in January, it is not October and I still have not received it. I have sent them many emails and have never gotten a response email. I would hate for any readers to get jipped by them.
