We have used the refillable cups since we bought our Keurig. They have worked out great! They are a little messier than the regular K-cup, as you have to use filters, but overall it has been great. K-cups are so expensive and this allows us to mix up the brews and flavors!

I do not use a filter with the eco brew k-cup. I stocked up on coffee when they had the buy one get one free coffee bags coupons. So I can make some pretty cheap coffee in my reusable k-cup. I do believe that the eco brews are made so no filter is required.

I agree. No filter is needed but we cannot make that thing work no matter what we do.

I wish that I could figure out how to get these to work. Mine make such a mess. I have coffee grounds everywhere and the coffee seems really sandy. You can’t return them through Amazon and the company only offers to send you more.

I’ve used mine for well over a year (after trying a competitor for a while) and I haven’t had many issues with it – some of my tips are to not overfill it (there’s a hard-to-see fill line in there – I usually use a spoon or measuring spoon to fill it but I’ve never actually measured), to not use too fine or coarse a grind (most grocery store brands work fine but Seattle’s Best plugs everything up) and to not pack it/press down on the coffee, and to give it a bit of extra time to brew because sometimes it’s not as fast as when you use a real K-cup. Also make sure your Keurig is a compatible model because I think there’s one or two that don’t work as well with it. And no, to answer someone above, it doesn’t use filters though there are other reusable K-cups that do. :)

I’ve heard of people having trouble with the the refillable K-cups, although I’ve used mine for 2 years now without a problem. The grounds may be too fine or not fine enough based on what I read in the past. I found Keurig customer service to be excellent with another problem I had; reach out to them for advice.

So I get the saving money part..lol.

But isn’t the point of k-cups to have fresh coffee every time you brew plus convenience? These refillables seem to defeat the purpose of that and just bring you back to the same thing as a regular coffee maker (and take away any convenience factor).. that you paid more for..

Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong.

I think for a lot of people the benefit of the Keurig is being able to brew a single cup of coffee rather than a whole pot at a time. In that way, it’s more convenient (it takes just minutes and you don’t have lukewarm coffee sitting and waiting for you to drink it!). The Ekobrew lets you have the benefit of that without the cost of the K-Cups!

I bought my Keurig when I could get K-cups for as little as 25-30 cents/cup, which still isn’t as cheap as ground coffee in a machine but to me was reasonable for the convenience. Since my purchase of the machine, K-cups have gone up in price *twice* and now are usually too expensive for me to bother unless I find a great sale (which does occasionally happen). So that is why I switched to using my Ekobrew almost exclusively – I already owned the machine and I was able to make it work the way I wanted it to work, but I *personally* wouldn’t buy one *just* to use a reusable cup.

The Ekobrew makes using a Keurig more affordable, but the coffee is not nearly as good. It comes out sludgy. You have to make sure you put the cup in the machine a certain direction, or it will overflow on the counter. That said, we’ve had the most success with the Ekobrew cup in particular. Both the My K-Cup and a red one requiring filters are terrible. Either way, we got our Keurig when K-cups were much cheaper…. They’ve gone up in price significantly, and the machines break very easily. In all, I think I NEVER want to buy another K-cup machine again.

I actually LOVE my eko brew. My favorite coffee is Dunkin Donuts, and their K-cups were outlandish in price and I really hate the waste the disposable K-cups make. I have used the eko brew with Dunkin donuts coffee ground from their store and from Costco with no problem. There can be a few grounds at the bottom of the cup from time to time, but you’d really have to be licking the bottom of the mug to get them in your mouth.
    $7.00 for the eko brew
$20 for a bag of dunkin donuts coffee (makes 135 cups) I use 1 tbsp. of coffee per cup

You will pay approximately .22 cents per cup for the first 100 uses and then about 15cents per cup from then on. And no waste!! If you buy cheaper coffee, I’m sure the price will drop per cup, but I cant speak to how well it will brew.

I use mine to brew my favorite decaf, with no issues.

I have also experimented with making lemonade by mixing True Lemon crystals and sugar and brewing it over ice. Nice, non-messy glass of real lemonade. You can also use it to make tea (I recommend a teabag without a tag).
