I find a lot of great ideas on Pinterest… but pinning something doesn’t do anything unless I actually, you know, try the idea. So I thought it’d be fun to challenge myself to do at least one Pinterest experiment every week — and blog my results. You can follow my personal Pinterest account here, if you’re interested.
I saw this Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Brownie recipe on Pinterest last week and immediately knew it was a must try idea. I mean, it’s hard to go wrong with pumpkins and chocolate chips mixed together.
It was super easy to whip up. I went ahead and doubled the recipe so that, if it turned out, I could give half the batch to some friends of ours who recently had a baby.
I don’t think I layered it thin enough in the pan because my final results turned out quite a bit thicker than the original recipe. And I used mini chocolate chips (that’s all I had) and those sank a little more than the original recipe’s picture looked like it did.
That said, the final result was very delicious. Not quite like a brownie to me, though. It was more like a pumpkin spice cake with chocolate chips in it. But I can overlook that technicality. 🙂
Have you tried any ideas or recipes you’ve found on Pinterest recently? If so, I’d love to hear how they worked out for you. Feel free to leave your blog link in the comments if you blogged about your experiment!

I’m looking for a recipe for a Starbucks drink, the Double Chocolate Chip Frappacino and wondering if you have one or know where I may find it?
Thank you so much

I use my pinterest pins almost every week! I don’t pin something unless I KNOW I will try it or if it’s even reasonable for me to do 🙂 haha!! Yesterday I made Carmel Popcorn for my hubby (its his fav) from my pinterest and a chocolate spice cake with chocolate cinnamon frosting…SO good and seasonal too! Half of it is loaded up and headed to our neighbors tho cause lord knows I don’t need it all at my house 😉 Last week we had friends come over and I made vanilla chai cupcakes which were a HIT!!!! By the time they all left we only 3 left!! And of course I get most ALL my decor ideas from pinterest.

They look yummy! I love your idea of doing something from Pinterest. I love that site but I always wonder if the things on there really turn out as good as they look.

I made this little girls dress from a picture on pinterest ( unfortunately I don’t have it pinned but it was a mustard dress with the same design). I made mine in plum. Here are the pics:

i made this same recipe a couple days ago and mine look a lot like yours. i agree that they’re tasty, but not a lot like a brownie. oh well, we’ll eat them!

I love me some pumpkin and chocolate!! Looks great. They might also be good with some cream cheese frosting…but maybe they are rich enough?
Anna says
They aren’t super rich, which was exactly what I wanted. Cream cheese frosting would taste great. Personally, I needed to keep the sugar down and still satisfy my sweet tooth this particular time;)

Oooh, those sound yummy! I bought pumpkin and choc chips for muffins, but I might have to try these instead!
Anna says
I just made these this evening, without the chocolate chips. My batter was much thicker than yours, and I’m not sure why. I used stevia baking mix instead of sugar, 1/2 whole wheat flour, and a whole egg instead of egg whites. They are good though I agree that they aren’t like a brownie. I’d love to make a real pumpkin brownie.
Anna says
Sometimes tossing add-ins in flour before stirring them into the batter helps them not sink so much.

I was going to suggest the same thing, I’ll separate a little bit the of the flour and mix the choc chips in it then stir in. 🙂 Other people commented that theirs were “poofed” up more like cake than the flatter “brownies” in her picture. Sounds delicious anyway!!

I ran a series of cooking challenges last year and got a lot of my ideas from pinterest. From that time, one of my favorite recipes has remained the Autumn Chopped Salad. I’ve included the link here so that you can see how the experiment went. I still often have the recipe on our weekly menu either as a side or a main dish.

Oh, pumpkin & chocolate chips go together no matter what form they turn out in the end! 🙂

I’m so glad you are doing this! I love to look up recipes and DIY projects on Pinterest but you never know how they will turn out! I’ve tried a few recipes on Pinterest. Some good, some awful! I loved a cheesey chicken and wild rice casserole I made but it took me 2 hrs to make it. Really yummy but probably not quite worth 2 hours. I also made a champagne basil pasta. It was ok. I made angel chicken that was really yummy and in the crock pot so easy too. I made a Chinese orange chicken in the crock pot that was terrible. Tasted like burnt orange juice. My favorite so far has been a pasta salad taken from southern living. It was amazing! Looking forward to your weekly posts! I have also done a few DIYs that have turned out well.

Today, I made gluten free Pumpkin Choc. Chip muffins and they are delicious! http://www.glutenfreelyfrugal.com/2012/09/15/cooking-with-kayla-pumpkin-chocolate-chip-muffins/
And last week, I made gluten free Zucchini Bread, also delish!

I was trying to figure out if I liked the idea of Pumpkin CC brownies…didn’t sound too appealing. But if you say they are more like Pumpkin Spice Cake with choc. chips, that sounds much better! Now, I might have to attempt gluten free with the recipe… 🙂

Yum!! I can’t wait to try this!
