Free sample Tom’s of Maine Naturally Dry Antiperspirant (Facebook offer)

by Crystal on August 01, 2012

Sign up for a free sample of Tom’s of Maine Naturally Dry Antiperspirant.

For some reason, I couldn’t get this to work, but it might be because I have a Facebook account but no friends.

(I know, I know! It sounds so pathetic that I don’t have friends on Facebook! I chose to “go black” on Facebook last year in order to simplify my life so I have an account so that I can sign up for freebies and run the Money Saving Mom® Facebook Page, but I don’t personally have friends.)

Thanks, Freebie Shark!

I was able to get the Tom’s of Maine sample to work only after liking the page.

  • Jennifer Roberts August 01, 2012 at 06:55 pm

Don’t feel bad, I have no “friends” on Facebook either. I only use Facebook for coupons and freebies, too.

tom is my fav.deo…I can’t wait to try the antipers.

  • Amanda August 01, 2012 at 08:04 pm

Crystal, I also have a dummy account for freebies with no friends! Maybe a few of us should friend each others’ dummy accounts so that we can still get these kinds of freebies! Is anyone interested?

I am also a friendless FB user! My real-life friends and I don’t use it. I would love to be your coupon friend – what is your name on FB?

      • Amanda August 03, 2012 at 06:47 am

        Thanks Jane! :)
my FB nme is couponmommy83. Now I won’t have to miss out on some of these offers!

I LOVE that!!! How you decided to go “Black” on FB without anyone added to your friends list. I did the same thing a few weeks ago!!! I feel so free now. Feels great to simplify my life like that too….Yep, I’m sure 99 percent of people who have FB won’t agree but I don’t care! I love using mine for freebies and freebies only!

      Me, too!!!

  • Susan August 01, 2012 at 08:46 pm

SO off topic, but how do you “go black”? I do not have a FB account for multiple reasons, one of which is to keep life simple, but I always hate missing out on the freebies, etc. that are through FB.

    • Crystal August 01, 2012 at 09:16 pm

I let all my friends know I was “closing my account” per se and then deleted all the friends I had. While I miss keeping up with dear friends, it has kept my life simpler and helped me to streamline my time spent online.

Create an account and don’t friend anyone. Don’t add a picture or any personal info beyond what’s required. If people send you friend requests, ignore or decline them.

      • Kim August 02, 2012 at 01:02 pm

That’s what I did. Just to get coupons & freebies. Once I receive the freebie or coupon, I unlike the business to get rid of the ads on my facebook account.

    • Wendy August 02, 2012 at 09:28 am

Or create one with a fake name. That’s what I do and have no friends and no photo. I just use an ititial and my last name.

  • Lisa August 01, 2012 at 10:47 pm

I also don’t have any “real” info to link me to my account-just for freebies. I can barely keep up with what I do have! I just ignore friend requests-so far working out good!

  • Elaine August 02, 2012 at 12:14 am

Gosh! I thought I was the only one on Facebook with no friends and only for couponing and freebies!

  • Jennie @ Centssaved.com August 02, 2012 at 02:57 am

I couldn’t get this to work. I love Tom’s. I will try it again tomorrow. Thanks!

  • Stephanie August 02, 2012 at 07:28 am

I have a “alternate ego” account, as my sister-in-law calls it. But since my Aunt and my sister-in-law are both couponers, we did link ours as friends so that when we need to share something we can. Another well known coupon blogger says that her dog (wink) has an account to sign up for coupons and that her sister’s dog is a friends on facebook.

  • PS August 02, 2012 at 08:36 am

I can’t get to the sign up page either. I thought it was my browser, so I tried a different one. Very interesting that it might be the no friends business. I’m another one with a “dummy” facebook. Having a “real” account would just suck all my time away!

  • Luba August 02, 2012 at 12:08 pm

I closed my account recently as well, and know I have so much time to do more productive things! Maybe I can get a dummy account too. :-)

  • Virginia August 02, 2012 at 12:58 pm

I couldn’t get FB/Toms of Maine to work either, and I do have FB friends. Thanks anyway, Crystal!

    • Kris August 02, 2012 at 01:57 pm

Yes, me too. I just tried and they said the “app is down”?? Not sure how long or why so I just unliked and will try again later.

  • J August 02, 2012 at 01:57 pm

So many offers only through facebook. I have no account with them and do not want one. Sob.

    • Crystal August 02, 2012 at 02:57 pm

You should definitely set up a “dummy account” like mentioned in the comments here. Then you can take advantage of Facebook deals without actually having to have an active Facebook account.

      • J August 02, 2012 at 03:22 pm

Crystal, I don’t know how to do that. Sorry.

        • Crystal August 02, 2012 at 03:24 pm

You can read the comments above for how others have done it, but basically just set up a Facebook account and then don’t accept friend requests and only use it for freebies and samples.

          • Luba August 03, 2012 at 05:53 am

I would also suggest getting Facebook blocker for privacy reasons. :)

  • Angie August 02, 2012 at 02:53 pm

    Crystal,
Good for you! It is not easy to go against the all too popular facebook. I am right there with you. I love technology, however, I don’t love the time it takes away from my family. I also have a facebook account, for coupons and freebies only. No friends here and loving it!

I liked the page and got to the point where I could click to get my free sample, but it just took me back to the place to choose one of the Good Things. Apparently many others have had problems all day!

  • Nicole August 03, 2012 at 08:31 am

It didn’t work for me and I used my regular facebook account. Weird..

  • trisha August 04, 2012 at 01:23 pm

I received a message saying they have reached their “max” on free samples…bummer
