4 Weeks of Frugal Family Fun: Free Movie & Kool-Aid Ice (Day 18)

We met Angie and her four children at the local movie theater for their Free Kid’s Movie showing today.

It was a wee bit crowded and noisy, but you can’t beat the price of free!

We headed over to Angie’s house afterward and she made Kool-Aid Ice with Sprite for the kids while we moms snacked on Fudge Babies.

I don’t know how recently you changed this, but I just noticed that the search bar moved to the top of the page. I love it! I had the hardest time trying to find it before whenever I wanted to search for something.

I love this series! I have three girls, 7, 2, and 7 months. We had an easter egg hunt indoors today. It was raining and they found the plastic eggs today while they were playing. I put little candies and pennies in them and hid them for them at rest time. They were very excited when they got up!

I think you are only doing it for summer, but I would love to see it year around. Even if that means only once a month or so!

We made newspaper boats….quick and easy. My children and I are loving your posts in this series. Having new and super easy and frugal activities is making our summer super!

We went to a baseball game tonight. The kids had free tickets that they earned from the library’s summer reading program. My husband and I had to pay $5 each, but it was a fun family activity. Afterwards we hit Dairy Queen for free cones, also from the library’s summer reading program! Looking forward to dressing like cows and getting free Chick Fil A tomorrow!

We went to the free movie here on Wed. and then today we went to a local park that has a man made swim pond with filtered water. It’s so nice. The kids loved playing in the water and the sand.

That sounds like such a fun frugal outing! Well, for the kids. Babysitters should offer “special days” like these to a group of parents. If each parent chipped in $10 a kid, it’d be such a hit and the babysitter could easily make $20 an hour.

My little munchkins made marshmallow structures today and then we made “s’more dip” with the marshmallows we’d been using. They’ve never had marshmallows before (we don’t buy packaged food) so this was quite the treat for them!

Our library had a free Curious George activity today! They showed Curious George videos, had coloring activities for the kids to do while they watched, and even provided snacks!!

We went to kids night at the zoo (free if you are a member), very fun! Temp. tattoos, arts and crafts, free choc milk and we brought in our own dinner to eat while watching the animals.

We used watercolor pencil to make our own paint with water pictures. Looks like your kids had a great time at the movie. We will have to give the Kool-aid ice, it would probably make great snow cones too.

Does anyone know of any books that have all of these creative and frugal activities for kids? We are going to a birthday party this weekend for a 6 year old and these activities are totally up his alley. Thanks!

I love the sprite/koolaid drink idea. Going to try that later with my kids. Does Angie have a blog? I have 4 kids also and love reading blogs of families with 4 or more kids.

We had so much fun in the fountains yesterday! I think we may have to try the Kool Aid Ice for a treat today! Loving this series!

We had a spaghetti dinner and then cookies for desert. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but it’s been a while since I cooked real food so it seemed special! We’ve had a nice break from the heat.

I took my 16 month old son to a friend’s house for a playdate this morning. We splashed in her pool and we moms got to know one another btr. It was a simple, free outing, but Elijah had a blast.
