Today’s Target shopping trip: Spent $8.84, Saved $24!

by Crystal on April 27, 2012

The children and I headed out to Target this afternoon after our homeschooling was finished. And we rocked the deals — or at least I thought so! :)

Here’s what we got:

2 Mossimo Supply Co. Scoop-Neck Tees – $6 each
Used 2 $3/1 Target printable coupons
$3 each after coupons

4 Market Pantry Pasta Sauce and Pasta at $1 each
Used 2 $1/2 Target printable coupons
$0.50 each after coupons

3 Revlon Nail Products — $1.97, $1.69, and $1.27
Used 3 $2/1 Revlon printable coupons
Free after coupons (coupons adjusted down to make each item free)

2 Aquafresh Kid’s Fresh ‘n Fruity Toothpaste — the shelf had it marked at $2.19, but it rang up at $1.50
Used 2 $1/1 Target printable coupons
Stacked with 2 $1/1 Aquafresh Fresh ‘n Fruity printable
Free plus overage after coupons

1 Lifesavers Peg Bag 6.25 oz — $1.84
Used $0.75/1 Lifesavers Target printable coupon
Stacked with $1/1 Lifesavers candy coupon
$0.09 after coupon

2 Nail Polish Removers — $0.97 each
Used 2 $0.50/1 Target printable coupons
$0.47 each after coupons

Total with tax after coupons: $8.84!

I figured up that without coupons and sales, we would have paid over $32 for all of these items. Of course, who pays retail anyway?!

You didn’t do the pretzel crisps deal?? I just went today and got 4 bags for .49 each! :)

    • Crystal April 27, 2012 at 04:58 pm

No, they didn’t have Cinnamon Sugar, so I skipped it. :)

Gotcha… we’re having a party this weekend so I stocked up–trying out some of the new flavors we’ve never had. :)

  • Crystal April 27, 2012 at 04:51 pm

    I don’t see the Aquafresh Target coupon…

    • Jennifer April 27, 2012 at 06:36 pm

      I couldn’t find it either.

    • Jen April 27, 2012 at 08:22 pm

Unfortunately, it expired a couple of days ago. But it was great while it lasted!

Thanks for sharing… I’d love to go get a couple of those t-shirts tomorrow. I think I may get the pasta items for food bank donations.

    I lovvvvve it! :)
That’s so great. I did well at CVS this week and raked in the free blink eye drops (turns out I need to use them more than I Like) I can’t wait to post my next CVS deal post or Target. They are my 2 favorite deal stores.

Sounds like a great trip! I went yesterday and they had a ton of dairy markdowns. They had Silk coconut milk for $2.08 and I used the $1.50 coupon to get it for $.58! They also had greek yogurt for $.60 a cup! And they had some of the starbucks bags marked at $7.11 so I paid $7.22 for 2 bags! I love shopping trips like that!

I just went and got one of the t-shirts that were on sale for $3 with the coupon.
I just wish Target didn’t make their t-shirts so paper thin. Kind of frustrating…..

    • Laura April 27, 2012 at 06:04 pm

It feels like most places make their t-shirts pretty thin nowadays. I think I read something about cotton prices going up causing it so they would not have to raise prices so much on clothing.

Funny to see the toothpaste! I got my free Aquafresh toothpaste today too, except with a raincheck at Walgreens:)

Wowsers! Maybe I better head to Target tomorrow!! Your deals are great, I have you listed in my blogroll on my blog finally. Now I will see your updates right away instead of waiting till they hit my email:)

  • Sarah April 27, 2012 at 06:36 pm

I love the Mossimo shirts. Yes they are thin, but I always layer them with a camisole. Very nice for summer! Great deals! That’s so exciting you got overage! Our target discontinued overages, and has become very militant about coupons. I tried to do a couple of the games deals a few weeks ago, and they just arbitrarily said they weren’t accepting any Fisher Price coupons anymore. I love Target, and I hope they continue to be coupon friendly!

  • Jena April 27, 2012 at 06:40 pm

Will they let you use 2 of the same Target coupon in one transaction? I have never tried because the coupons say “one coupon or offer per guest.” Thanks! :)

    • Crystal April 28, 2012 at 02:42 am

Some Target stores will, some won’t. Since it’s a store coupon, it’s up to their store’s discretion. Some make you split up your transactions or only use one per day per customer.

  • Lee April 27, 2012 at 07:29 pm

I tried to buy the tshirts yesterday, but when I tried them on they just didn’t look great on me…decided $3 wasn’t a good deal if I didn’t love it. Maybe a different style shirt will go on sale before it expires :)

    • Courtney April 28, 2012 at 08:56 am

Good for you! I’m learning to make those same decisions. I don’t need to spend money just because it’s a good deal. If I don’t need it or won’t use it, I’m wasting my money!

  • Claudine April 27, 2012 at 07:57 pm

    Jena,
My Target lets me use more than one identical Target coupon in one transaction. In fact, I’ve used as many as 4 or 5 if I was able to print them out on different computers and they are matched up with the same number of items. My Target is very coupon friendly (if you get the right cashier).

  • Belinda April 27, 2012 at 08:11 pm

The right cashier at Target is key! Although, one very nice young man did explain that they had recent training and were told to be more fussy about coupons. My Target lets me use multiples of the same coupon in a transaction with no problem.

  • Heather April 27, 2012 at 10:22 pm

I went into target for just the coffee deal and ended up with so much more. Lots of lunch meat and yogurt. I love that our target is so friendly. I spent 12.00 but ended up saving 23.oo. That was ok cause I got to treat my daughter to laughing cow cheese for .60 cents. yeah.

  • Corey April 28, 2012 at 06:10 am

    Crystal,

I have to ask, do your children ever ask for things when you do these Target runs? You seem to really stay on task even with children in tow. If I take all three of mine, (especially my youngest) there is usually the question of “Mommy, can we get this too?” Even if it’s just Hello Kitty bandaids, I have a hard time ALWAYS saying NO. I don’t want to be the mommy who never treats them to the little things, but I also don’t want to give in each time we head out. How do you handle this, or is it not an issue for you?

    • Crystal April 28, 2012 at 09:27 am

They usually bring their own money and buy their own items in a separate transaction. You can see more about how that works at our house here:

The target in Grafton, Wisconsin had detergent – Seventh Generation, 120 loads on clearance for $9.99. I bought 4 of them, should last us 2 years.
