Linked up! Forgot to do it yesterday. I just started doing this last week but it has helped to have these goals to push me forward!

That Corrie Ten Boom book looks great! My oldest DD (14) just finished The Hiding Place and it was a special experience to talk with her about it. It was such a life-changing book for me when I read it about 10-15 years ago. I’m going to look for that book to share with my littler ones.

Crystal, I would love to hear some of your ideas (and other reader’s ideas, too) on what to do with your kids when you’re home sick…and they aren’t. I’m struggling through day two of illness right now where it’s all I can do to keep awake while my kids (ages 2 1/2 and 10 months) are playing. I’ve been spending most of the day on the couch and we’ve already watched a bunch of TV. I feel so guilty but I really can’t do much else, including keeping on top of any household tasks!
Jen (yup, another one) says
Not only is the recipe Kassia linked to GF, but it’s also super easy and looks quicker than the one you linked to. If you aren’t familiar with Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes A Day, check out their website. It is such an easy way to make bread and so yummy. Some of their GF breads are great, others not so much, but their gluten recipes are out of sight! You keep dough in your fridge and cut off a hunk whenever you want to bake. For the naan, you just put a lidded cast iron pot (I use my dutch oven) on the stove, put in some oil or ghee and toss in a flattened round of dough. It looked and tasted just like naan from our favorite carryout!

How are you liking the “Couch to 5K” program?

I will write little notes to my husband and put them in his lunch occasionally or just call him to tell him I love him. We will celebrate our 22 anniversary this summer. I think little things like the notes or the calls are just great to do for your husband.

For the longest time I put off making goals even though I saw how they worked for you. I have been more intentional this year about not only setting them, but letting others know about them. It is amazing what the accountability does for getting things done. I have minimized my number of goals in the hope that I can get used to accomplishing a few, then add to them. So far, it is working. Thanks for continuing the posts of your goals. It took me a while, but it finally got through that I too should do this. Hope you all continue to feel better.

Can’t wait to hear your MomsLife speech next month!
Victoria Hamel says
thanks for putting this together! I cannot wait for you to make homemade Naan! I want to know how it goes! I think I made my goals on the easy side, just to start getting in the groove!
Kimberly says
Love the love note thing too! I make my husbands lunch for him each morning. I write a lovey message on his sandwich bag each day.
My goals this week are
1. Get maternity leave plans ready for work. (I teach 5th grade) baby is use in 30 days!
2. Go through baby clothes from attic and see what will work.
3. Knit a section of new baby’s blanket I’ve been working on….I’ve got a deadline!!
Victoria says
LOVE the look of that dish cloth pattern. I am a creature of habit and tend to stick to the simple cast on 4, then in second row knit one, knit twice into second stitch and then knit till end, I repeat that till row 43 then I knit one, knit two together and knit till the end, till I am down to 4 rows and then cast off. I have done that pattern for so long I have been known to knit them even in darkness. I am thinking of perhaps making my goal for knitting this year to try and attend a few knitting group sessions at our local library and learn a few new stitches. Thanks for the inspiration.
Jen says
Would love to hear more about what you’re doing to count down to Easter. I have two preschoolers and would love to be more intentional about preparing and teaching them!
Kassia says
Here’s a recipe for gf naan, just in case you were planning on making your naan gf. I have made it and it is really good.

Also, you probably already know this, but ghee (the clarified butter they use to cook the naan) is dairy free. Here’s a link to a recipe to make your own.

Crystal, I admire you! I am definitely not as organized but having structure to your day-to-day life makes everything so much easier! You don’t feel like you’re going to crack under pressure, and it’s because you have a plan! You have inspired me in so many ways. Thank you for everything you do.
Crystal says
Thanks so much for your kind encouragement!
Anna @ Feminine Adventures says
You’re always such an inspiration, Crystal! It helped so much having my goals written out last week. Thanks for encouraging it!
My top eight goals for this week:
1. Host my first ever (Mega) Giveaway on my blog.
2. Create a Facebook Welcome page
3. Finish reading “In Grandma’s Attic” to the kids
4. Sanitize kids’ toys and our water bottles (they keep getting colds!)
5. Finish reading “Food-Your Miracle Medicine”
6. List and (hopefully) sell a couple big items
7. Spend more time with Joshua (he just finished taking the bar!)
8. Exercise at least four times.
Crystal says
Yay for your husband finishing the bar!! I hope you hear good news soon!
Anna @ Feminine Adventures says
Thanks Crystal–me too! 🙂 He passed the Missouri bar this past summer, so only had to take the state specific part. Still-the bar is no fun! Glad it’s over. 🙂
Lydia says
This is my first week of participating. I am excited to get my goals out there and have accountability behind them!
Mackenzie @ The Random Path says
February was a weird month and I feel like I didn’t accomplish all that I wanted to. I think for next month, I will break down the big goals into smaller, more manageable weekly tasks so I am not rushing around towards the end of the month. I think that will help.
Your goals are inspiring to all of us busy gals. Keep doin’ what your doin’!
🙂
Crystal from Crystal's Ramblings says
Someone may have already asked this but does Jesse write love notes back? Just curious!
I had a good week last week, but I still always feel like there is more that I want to get done than what gets done.
Crystal says
Yes — see my comment above about the waterproof note pad. 🙂
Chelsea - Motherhood isn't for the Weak says
These weekly goals are very inspiring. It’s so much easier when you have set out on paper what important things need to be done in the week instead of writing out a to-do list of a million chores and goals. I used to try to do that and it’s so overwhelming!
Thank you for sharing. You are an amazing blogger and I enjoy reading all of your posts.

Weekly goals hmm? What a great concept, but can I follow through hmmm.
I live in a new country, Ecuador so I need to practice my spanish daily, so goal #1, Practice spanish for 30 mins. a day.
I have a neglected blog, so I need to find a way to keep it alive. Goal #2 organize and find material for blog. http://lookingforthesimplelife-ss.blogspot.com
We eat vegetarian at home because I am a vegetarian and the hubby doens’t really want to cook meat in the home, but it is different eating vegetarian in Ecuador because there are no convience foods, no Morning Star, and No Boca. So Goal #3 find one new meal a week that I can cook. BTW I hate cooking especially from scratch. It’s funny I look at From Scratch recipes which really aren’t from scratch when they tell me to add a package of frozen spinach or dried soup. Hello we don’t have that here. LOL
I am hopinh to go back to the USA for a visit this summer to see out other children. Which means I might need to be swimsuit ready. So Goal #4 workout….No number of times because it is too much for me I will just try and see what happens LOL. Thank you for this blog I really enjoy reading it and I always send back tips to my kids in the USA.

I am still working on clearing out the clutter 30 minutes at a time! But I can see a difference already. Your goals are very motivating and encouraging; and I love the new series How to Develop a Routine That Works – And Stick With It! But I really have to work on not trying to tackle so much at once!
Anne @ Modern Mrs Darcy says
I just love #3–and that it’s one of your top 10 goals for the week! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
Crystal says
We’ve started writing love notes back and forth each week using a waterproof pad in our shower. It’s been such a fun way to express love and appreciation on a very regular basis for each other. And I wish I could take credit for the waterproof pad love note idea, but it was my husband’s idea. Yep, I got me a good one. 😉
Marie says
Are the waterproof pads something he made or something you can buy? I’ve never heard of such a thing and it sounds like such a great idea!
Hope everyone feels better. We just got through pink eye with my son last week and yesterday my daughter woke up with it! I really thought we had it beat after 7 days but nope!

My boyfriend and I used to leave notes on the bathroom mirror with dry erase markers – I have a ton of colors from school, and they got more use that way than what they were intended for!
Crystal says
Love this!
Denise says
I started doing this last month with a paper that says “I love you because…” in a glass frame. Then I use dry erase markers to write something daily. (Thanks, pinterest!) Something so minor has made such a huge difference to us!!!
Allyson @ A Heart for Home says
I just made one of those frames, too. I posted a picture in this post titled Romancing Your Husband.
Alicia says
I was just going to comment this very thing! I think it is so sweet that you do this. And if you don’t mind, I think I will start this up for my husband as well! Sometimes we forget the most important people is our lives.
Sara says
I bought one of those little metal mailboxes that Target had around Valentine’s Day in the dollar spot a few years back. My husband and I put little notes in the mailbox and raise the flag to let the other person know we left a sweet thought for them in the box. One time I forget to check it for about a week and my sweet hubby had left me a pile of cute little notes in there!
Jessica Claire says
We have been sick for about two weeks over here and just got back up and running yesterday or so. Thanks for the opportunity to keep myself accountable each week. This has really helped in getting stuff done!
Angie D says
We need to join forces. I am planning on making Naan tomorrow and have some two large griddles that should hopefully cut down on time. 😉
You could borrow if you want. They are super yummy and worth it, but the rolling and frying are time consuming (like tortillas!).
Lucky @ Making My Own Luck says
We’ve had illnesses and toothaches in our house. I hope you’re all feeling better now.
That leadership book sounds good. That’s been one of my reading focuses this year, so I’ll have to check that out.
I kicked off my week with a ton of freezer cooking on Saturday, so things are looking better for us!
Thanks for the link up. These posts are an encouragement.
Laura says
I love the idea of making my goals a part of the week… this week, just 5 since I’m busy, but I might add in the headings as well next week!
Charity Hawkins says
These weekly goals are amazing. That is so very organized of you. If you’re ever in doubt about it Crystal, you rock. 🙂
Crystal says
Thanks so much for your kind encouragement. I’ve been amazed at how much more intentional I am when I set weekly goals and then chip away at them little by little each day!
