I’m making rednec wine glasses, it’s just a small mason jar with a small glass candle stick from the dollar store glued to the bottom with glue made for glass.

Julie@teachinggoodeaters December 22, 2011 at 7:38 am

I’ve seen those (for a decent amount of money) and thought they were hilarious! I never thought of making my own! Too funny!! I may need to make ANOTHER run to the dollar store!! (Oh, and find some glue made for glass!)

I just posted about some several last minute ideas today (homemade fire starters, sewn candy pouches) and some fun wrapping ideas for gift cards! I’m also making beer bread mix. It’s like the Tastefully simple mixes, but so much cheaper from scratch!

Totally beautiful! I wish I had some money left in my budget to make these. I’ll keep them in my folder for next year :)

The Prudent Homemaker December 21, 2011 at 4:35 pm

I am still planning on making some homemade granola, fudge http://theprudenthomemaker.com/fudge.aspx and more. I am also working on some bookmarks (they’ll be accessible here http://theprudenthomemaker.com/FreePrintables.aspx when I have the last pictures uploaded) . We just made salt dough ornaments today: http://makeitgiveit.blogspot.com/2011/12/sophisticated-salt-dough.html and they are drying right now; they are beautiful!

I’ve also been sewing lots of gifts still, including several barrettes, a sewing housewife, and I’m finishing up some doll clothes today.

Kathy December 21, 2011 at 10:42 pm

I’m intrigued. What is a sewing housewife?

The Prudent Homemaker December 21, 2011 at 10:58 pm

Wendy has one in Peter Pan, and Jane Austen’s characters use one, too. It is VERY fast to make and doesn’t take much fabric. Here is the tutorial I used: http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2009/10/housewives-again-a-pattern.html

I’m happy to say I’m done for this year, but I’ll kep them in mind for next year.

I just did a post today on two last minute gift ideas: caramel corn and vanilla syrup:

I was thinking about making some caramel corn. YUM! Vanilla syrup is really good in warm milk, too :)

Lucky December 22, 2011 at 4:38 pm

Great idea! Yummy.

I make sugar scrub, and keep it on hand in containers for any last minute unexpeted gifts…2 parts sugar to 1 part oil. (I just use canola), and extract it you have it.

Laura December 22, 2011 at 6:27 am

what kind of extract?

Christy December 22, 2011 at 8:24 am

I actually have a peppermint essential oil that I use, then I package it up in a clear celephane bag and put a mini candy cane with it. I got the essential oil from Amazon, which is great to have on hand, you could also use lemon extract just from the grocery store, or any kind you would like the scent of. Hope that helps! I use mine and love it, so do my kids! :)

Thanks so much, I can’t wait to try it! It sounds like some very pricey stuff my daughters and I tried at an art fair this past summer, I love the thought of being able to make it ourselves!

Jackie December 21, 2011 at 8:01 pm

I LOVE these ideas! I would love a gift like these :) The hot cocoa especially! You should suggest them to this list of Last Minute Gift IDeas > http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/citychic/under-50-last-minute-gifts-to-love

I have several super easy last minute gift ideas here: http://thepeacefulmom.com/category/stress-free-christmas-gifts/

My favorite is the Cherry Chocolate Chip Bread. It’s delicious and you can give it alone or in a gift basket with coffee or hot cocoa for a gift that will be truly enjoyed!

I have looked at so many wonderful ideas in the past few weeks! Today I saw a post, and I thought it was here, but for the life of me cannot find it tonight. It was gifting 2 litre soft drinks with a cute little saying on the tag. Was it here? If not, does anyone possibly know and can point me in the right direction? It was a great idea for my teenage sons to give to older cousins…

I am having so much fun reading the post and comments and tucking away sooooo many ideas for next year (and celebrations in between).

Thank you!

Julie@teachinggoodeaters December 22, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I’m not sure if this was the one you meant, but I saw this on Pintrest… http://todaysfabulousfinds.blogspot.com/2010/12/15-gift-ideas-under-2.html
