Is anyone getting this to work?

Kari October 11, 2011 at 7:51 am

Nevermind, now it is working for me. Thanks, Crystal!

lori October 11, 2011 at 7:56 am

I used the code and at checkout it said I had a $10 credit and that my balance for this purchase was $0. But after I clicked “buy” and the purchase was processed, the screen said my card was charged $6. I checked my bank acct balance online and sure enough they charged me for it! Don’t know what happened…

Carrie @ My Favorite Finds October 11, 2011 at 8:00 am

That same thing happened to me, Lori.

Nanci October 11, 2011 at 9:32 am

The same thing for me too. Is this a scam?

Crystal October 11, 2011 at 8:00 am

Let us know what you find out from them. I’m so sorry that happened to you.

Did this happen to anyone else here? Please let us know if it does.

Kari October 11, 2011 at 8:06 am

Same here. My card was charged too.

Jen October 11, 2011 at 8:42 am

Same here. Charged $6. I sent them an email since no one was available via chat.

CGK October 12, 2011 at 10:05 am

Do we know if anyone has actually gotten a refund? They sent me an email saying
“We sincerely apologize for the error and are busily working to fix this problem so that you can save the $10 you deserve. We expect to refund the appropriate amount to all affected purchasers within the next 12 hours and will update you as soon as we’ve resolved the issue and corrected your purchase. ” -10:45 am yesterday
But the charge is still on my account.

Kelly October 11, 2011 at 8:00 am

Same thing for me. Help! I don’t want it if it isn’t free and it says you can’t cancel it once it’s purchased.

Jessica October 11, 2011 at 8:25 am

Same thing happened to me. Said $0 total, then after purchasing got charged $6. Im so upset!

Jessica October 11, 2011 at 8:54 am

I had the same thing happen. It said the total due was $0.00, but after I confirmed the purchase, it said I was charged. I went to check the bank account, and I was charged. I too have registered a complaint with the customer service department and will be waiting to hear back from them.

Rebekah {honeyandcheese} October 11, 2011 at 8:08 am

Same thing here, too. And I barely had enough in my account to cover it! I would have been even unhappier if it had bounced!

Amber W. October 11, 2011 at 8:30 am

Same thing just happened to me! I sent a message to support.

Heather October 11, 2011 at 8:33 am

Same thing happened to me too. I’m not happy. I emailed them and asked them to remove the $6 charge. We’ll see what happens…

Elizabeth October 11, 2011 at 8:34 am

It happened to me I e-mailed them requesting to cancel the order… I should have read through all the comments. If they say ‘I can’t cancel it’ then I’ll be contacting my bank and not having the charge verified through. Always away to cancel. A lot of these sites I go to for something ‘free’ on I tend to start using and purchasing things so if they don’t want my buisness at all this will be a quick way to make sure myself and no one I know uses it.

CGK October 11, 2011 at 8:56 am

Yeah, I got charged… Crazy because when I hit the submit button it said zero balance. Then it said that they charged my card.

Kelly October 11, 2011 at 8:04 am

I submitted them a customer service message online and hope to hear from them soon. It said no agents were available : (

Carrie @ My Favorite Finds October 11, 2011 at 8:07 am

I submitted a request, too. I clicked over to “Cleverly Simple”, and her post says that it is for new customers or to be purchased as a gift. But, is that new Plum District customers, or Family Fun subscribers? It showed a total of $0 before I hit the button to finish my purchase..so of course I clicked to make it mine.

Carrie @ My Favorite Finds October 11, 2011 at 8:08 am

I just checked Plum District again, it says it is for new or gift subscriptions to Family Fun…so it’s not for new Plum District members.

“THE FINE PRINT
May not be combined with other offers
Valid in the U.S. only
Valid for new and gift subscriptions only
Limit 1 per household
Expires 10/13/11″

Kelly October 11, 2011 at 8:11 am

I’m not a new Plum District member and was e-mailed this code from the company. I have never had a sub to Family Fun.

Crystal October 11, 2011 at 8:13 am

I was emailed the code, too. Someone on Facebook just said they tried to use it to purchase a local deal in their area for $10 and it took it off and then charged their card. So I’m wondering if there’s a glitch with their system and/or the code universally.

Elizabeth October 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

I didn’t read all that fine print but it’s bait and switch and illegal to put an due amount of $0 and then charge my card $6.

Joanne October 11, 2011 at 8:13 am

I was charged the $6 too even after at the checkout my total said it was $0. I have emailed them .

Heather @ Work At Home Market October 11, 2011 at 8:40 am

I tried two different options and both gave me a $0 balance…but after reading your comments I may wait it out and see what they aren’t giving the credit correctly! I don’t want to be charged for any of their possible deals.

Joanna October 11, 2011 at 9:04 am

I had the same problem. It showed that I owe $0, but when I clicked on the buy button it says my card will be charged $6. I submitted a customer service message online as well. Very frustrating!

trisha October 11, 2011 at 8:10 am

You still have to give credit card info, even though it shows up as free. :(

JENNIFER October 11, 2011 at 9:48 am

It worked for me, and I never entered any credit card info or had any saved!

Denise October 11, 2011 at 8:12 am

I had the same problem. It said my card would be charged. I noticed in the fine print that it says not to be combined with other offer. Is this why it will not use credit even though it shows balance of $0? Buyer beware.

Judy October 11, 2011 at 8:12 am

I was charged $6 too :(

DANA October 11, 2011 at 8:19 am

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME LORI

laura October 11, 2011 at 8:25 am

I was charged 6.00 too. I wrote the company too and I hope to hear back from them soon. I have been looking for a cheap subscription to Family Fun and I thought this was it. I am sure that whoever checks the support email this morning will have a lot of disgruntle Moms who want their 6.00 back!! Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!!

Alison October 11, 2011 at 8:31 am

Ordered at 8:20 EST. I was charged, even though the page before I placed my order said my total was $0. Not cool Plum District!

Christy October 11, 2011 at 8:34 am

I cant even find the offer. How do I find it?

Nichole October 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

confused, I used the 10today and on the order page it said my payment was $0, after I hit submit deal it said my cc was charged $6?

jennifer October 11, 2011 at 8:39 am

i was charged $1.00. The code said invalid. but i got a $5.oo credit for signing up as a new member. So I am happy. Thanks.

Julie October 11, 2011 at 8:42 am

The exact same thing happened to me. I was getting something else, but it showed my total was zero, but then said it charged me $10. I also have $10 pending from my bank.

Cindy October 11, 2011 at 8:49 am

Thanks! I love this magazine and usually read it in a hurry at the doctor’s office!

Kelly October 11, 2011 at 8:50 am

My first step would be to find where to enter the promo code! :-) Why can’t I find it?

Lori October 11, 2011 at 8:51 am

My total is coming up $0.00 but I’m not going to give my CC info, especially since everyone seems to be having their cards charged unnecessarily!

Carol Amie October 11, 2011 at 8:55 am

do I have to *do* anything other than order it? It went through fine and didn’t charge me but I’m new to plum deals…after the order processed it gave me a link to the ‘voucher’ which expires in 2 days…but says my product will ship soon. Does the magazine just come now or do I have another step to follow up with?
The deal is great but the site is not at all intuitive, IMO.

rebecca October 11, 2011 at 8:56 am

I was charged also :( It said that it was at a zero balance and then I was charged the 6 dollars.

Carrie October 11, 2011 at 8:57 am

It worked for me just 5 minutes ago. I didn’t put credit card information, just my billing address. It processed the transaction and I got a confirmation message.

Kristine October 11, 2011 at 9:05 am

I clicked out of the whole website and then did it again. The credit was applied. I think the system needs time to have the credit put in your account. Anyway, I got it for free. Yay!

Kresta October 11, 2011 at 9:06 am

I’m confused. I did the offer, but do you then have to go to the Family Fun website and subscribe using a voucher, or are you automatically subscribed?

Viva October 11, 2011 at 9:11 am

It worked for me- got it for free! Thank you, Carrie- I did what she did, which is just to omit entering credit card information. I just entered the promo code, then filled in my shipping address. Thanks for the info, Crystal- your posts are a great help and inspiration to me!

Virginia Kuhn October 11, 2011 at 9:11 am

Just did it. It worked for me. :) It immediately took the $6.00 off and didn’t ask for credit card info. Thanks!

Heather October 11, 2011 at 9:18 am

Worked fine for me. I did not have to put in credit card info. It did take a bit for the promo code to show up, though.

Amber October 11, 2011 at 9:25 am

I got this deal for free! I was a new customer and didnt even have to enter my cc info! I love free stuff! Sorry to all of you who got charged!

Darla Myers October 11, 2011 at 9:41 am

It worked for me.
I didn’t put credit card information,
just my billing address.
It processed the transaction and I got a confirmation message.
Total $0
Thank you! :)

Amanda October 11, 2011 at 9:42 am

Didn’t work for me, It said my balance was $0.00, then it charged me $6.00. Emailed customer service, hope to hear back soon.

Lacey October 11, 2011 at 9:52 am

DON’T PUT IN YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. JUST YOUR BILLING ADDRESS. THEN CLICK PLACE ORDER AND IT WILL WORK WITHOUT CC INFO.
I put the promo code in and it took off the $6. Then I just put in my address and no cc info and it process and worked! That is what you need to do!

Brenda Bryan October 11, 2011 at 9:56 am

I just tried the Family Fun deal and it seemed to work! Showed $0 charged after submitting! Thanks!! :-)

Katie October 11, 2011 at 9:59 am

It won’t let me order it without entering in my CC info. It says “Payment profile can’t be blank”. :-(

Jennfier October 11, 2011 at 9:59 am

Yep same happend for be :( very bummed to have wasted money

Crystal October 11, 2011 at 10:01 am

You should definitely be able to get a refund.

Jennifer October 18, 2011 at 1:30 pm

I received an email saying I would get my refund but I never got the money. Anyone else get their money back?

Mara Yager October 11, 2011 at 10:03 am

It worked for me thank you so much! Once I entered the code, I actually had to click on the bubble next to the code to select it make sure it was applied to my order! FYI!

Heather October 11, 2011 at 10:06 am

Looks like they realized the error and corrected it, but now they’re going to have to go back and credit all of us who were charged the $6. Funny thing is, I did attempt to submit it without entering credit card info and got an error. Even though the cost was zero it still wanted the CC info so I gave it. That’s when I was charged. Now it looks like you can submit just fine without CC info.

twinmamateb October 11, 2011 at 10:09 am

I did not give my cc info on the payment screen nor is it on file with them…went thru the whole process, it said payment $0. We shall see if I actually receive the magazine?

courtney stronczek October 11, 2011 at 10:30 am

The code did not work for me, so I closed out of the website and tried it again, than it worked! I got it completely free!

Brittany October 11, 2011 at 10:33 am

The fine print now says you cannot use the plum dollars or plum promotional codes on that offer….

Holly October 11, 2011 at 10:40 am

I am a new member to Plum District and I can’t even find where to enter the promo code…help please???

Cherissa October 11, 2011 at 10:41 am

It worked for me! transaction amount 0$ all the way through to confirmation. Thanks!

Dawn October 11, 2011 at 10:58 am

There is no place for a promo code to be entered, or is it when you check out?

Jesi October 11, 2011 at 11:33 am

Here’s how I just got it to work since the “promo code” isn’t showing up when I am trying to checkout with the magazine…

First, I deleted my saved credit card from my account.
Then, I selected another deal on the site and went to checkout.
There, you get the option to add promo code so I entered “10TODAY” and closed the website- this added the promotional credit to my account.
I went back into the site, selected the Family Fun magazine and went to checkout.
I then had the option of applying the Promo Code credit that was on my account to make my balance $0.
I finished the checkout process with NO CREDIT CARD INFO in the box (make sure this is deleted) and it worked!

Good luck everyone!

Megan October 11, 2011 at 1:03 pm

It is working now….don’t put your CC info in!

There is also a deal that is listed under Chicago for $15 for $30 to educational toy website. If you get the $5 new member credit, you can get that free too and it is good for shipping costs as well
