Sign up for a free subscription to Popular Science magazine.

I’ve never seen an issue of this magazine before. Is it any good? From what I saw online, it looked like a sort of magazine for “geeks”. :)

Thanks, Common Sense With Money!

My engineer husband and techie son love to read this magazine, and talk about it a lot. Thanks!

Kim August 16, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Sounds like I wrote that description! My engineer and techie love this too.

Jennifer August 16, 2011 at 6:07 pm

Geeks…well I guess I am one cause I loved to read that as a teenager. My brother and I would read it and talk to each other about all the new “stuff” being created. It’s basically all the newest inventions, weird robots, etc that never make it to the public, and more. Unless they have changed it since then. Fun to me! :-)

Monica August 16, 2011 at 6:17 pm

Sounds interesting! Good reading material for sure!

Becky August 16, 2011 at 6:22 pm

Thank you! My grandson (geek, NOT) will enjoy this.

Mark August 16, 2011 at 6:23 pm

The correct term is nerds, but since you posted this great offer, you can call us whatever you like! Thanks! :)

Crystal August 16, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Yes, I thought about using that term, but it seemed like maybe a wee bit derogatory, so I stuck with “geeks”. {Maybe that’s derogatory, too?! I love all you people–even if I don’t always “get” you as a total non-geek, non-nerd myself! :) }

This is my husband’s favorite magazine. He gets soooo excited when it arrives each month! I find it boring, personally, but then, he’s not into my Martha Stewart magazines. ;-) Thanks for the link.

Barb S. August 16, 2011 at 6:33 pm

My son loves this magazine too.

VirgiLia August 16, 2011 at 6:53 pm

My husband’s subscription just ended for this! Yay! I love this magazine. There is all sorts of neat articles about the latest inventions and improvements. It covers a wide range of topics from medicine, movie special effects, farming, cars, gadgets, space, wild animals…. it goes on and on.

Heather @ Creative Family Moments August 16, 2011 at 7:02 pm

My son is gonna love this! Thanks!

Leslie in VA August 16, 2011 at 7:17 pm

crazy not to get this! My kids literally fight over the mag when it arrives!

Melanie August 16, 2011 at 7:45 pm

Thank you so much! I love this magazine, it’s so full of the latest, greatest science. :)

Hillary August 16, 2011 at 7:46 pm

Thanks for the link!
We got this when I was a teenager and our whole family enjoyed it. I’m not really certain what the definition of geek or nerd is but I don’t think any of us are either :o )

JT August 16, 2011 at 7:57 pm

WOW! My “geek” guy is not convinced this whole couponing thing is all that cool. This will totally change his mind! Thank you so much! Love your blog!

:)

Yep it’s an interesting mag! Worth looking into! I used to have to choose an article and do a mini current event report on it in science. Could actually be a great resource for homeschooling? Just keeping up with technology, etc. Nothing controversial in there, not that I’ve seen anyway.

Lee Anne August 16, 2011 at 8:03 pm

It is totally for geeks and my husband will LOVE it! Thanks!

Mariya August 16, 2011 at 8:16 pm

Geeky hubby loves this magazine. Thanks!

Lydia August 16, 2011 at 8:38 pm

Well, I’m not geeky at all and don’t even enjoy science that much, but I got this free about a yr. ago for my husband and ended up enjoying it as much as he did. So you might be surprised Crystal! :)

Mary August 16, 2011 at 8:42 pm

I’ve been reading Popular Science since I was a kid – my chemist father is a subscriber. I subscribe now because I find it fascinating, but am starting to use it in homeschooling my 7 year old. Not all of the material is appropriate for young children, of course, and those with a Creationist worldview would certainly object to some of the material, but even so it can be a great resource! I know a lot of mom’s find science tough to teach and I think this would be an easy way to make it more real for kids.

Maura August 16, 2011 at 9:18 pm

My husband is so excited about this. He is a self-proclaimed geek!

Courtney August 16, 2011 at 9:20 pm

My kids love this magazine. Geeks rock!

Michele C. August 16, 2011 at 9:39 pm

Thanks! I think this will be fun to get, especially for free! :)

Bre in KY August 16, 2011 at 10:01 pm

LOVE this magazine, right along with my Martha Stewart and Southern Living..LOL

Kerry August 16, 2011 at 10:50 pm

I homeschool and we use this to start discussions and mull around ideas. It isn’t detailed just brief articles on new scientific ideas.

Laura August 17, 2011 at 6:46 am

This is the only magazine that my husband regularly subscribed to (and read) before we were married. Since we’ve been married, he’s been amazed at the subscription deals I’ve been able to find on it. Thanks for sharing!

SHARONA August 17, 2011 at 8:51 am

deal expired

Sara August 17, 2011 at 9:34 am

I’m so outrageously bummed that this offer is expired. I’ve been asking for a subscription to this magazine (’cause they don’t carry it at my itty-bitty library) for the past few Christmases and birthdays, to no avail. It’s my favorite magazine, and I’m only slightly geeky.
