Just a heads up that Office Max is offering 100% MaxPerks Rewards on backpack purchases next week. The sneak peek ad didn’t state specifics, so I’m not sure if this is only available on select backpacks, or if it’s good on all backpacks.
I’ll let you know more details as soon as I know.

How do their rewards work? When would be “get the money back”?
I have the same question..
I would also like to know how the Max rewards work. Is it credit to be used at the store or is it a check? How long does it take to get it back?
it says October for the teacher rewards card and yes it is a credit for the store. It expires 3 months after you get it. They send an email. I use mine as kind of a savings plan cuz thats what it really is. I buy toner with my rewards.
I buy gift cards with my rewards. OfficeMax sells gift cards for many retailers, and I then use the gift cards as Christmas & Birthday gifts.
You can do that? In that case I don’t mind buying the bag as long as I am not force to use the credit at store… Thanks.
I just asked customer service and they said you cannot purchase gift cards with rewards money….
Earlier this year, I used rewards money to buy a gift card for a restaurant with no problem. I don’t think you can buy Office Max gift cards, but they have a nice selection of other cards.
Thanks for all the info everyone
So do I have this right?
I buy something that earns me bonus rewards.
Later I get an email or something telling me I have X amount of rewards.
I can then return to the store and actually spend those reward bucks on what ever I choose.
do i have it right?
Yup, and the best thing about it is that you can use those rewards on the next 100% back deal.
I currently have $51 in rewards, from buying binders that were 100% back, to buy the binders I used previous rewards from buying pens that were also 100% back, I bought those using rewards from . . . I can’t remember what! But I’ve been rolling the rewards for quite a while.
I usually have to pay a few dollars, sometimes to get over the $50 minimum for free shipping, sometimes because I just can’t make it come out exactly right. The 100% back items are usually pretty limited in selection, but most of it is stuff that is practical for us to buy.
I forgot to mention that I don’t have an OfficeMax within driving distance of me. That is why I do it online and try to get the free shipping. (They ship fast, by the way!)
And to clarify, you get an email notification when your rewards are available (around two weeks later, I’m guessing). They do expire in three months, but another 100% back deal always comes along before then. Do scroll down to check the bottoms of emails from OfficeMax. That’s where the 100% back deals are listed.
I did this last year, it’s a rebate you get in the mail (mine took FOREVER to come- it was oct-nov I swear! The rewards though you have to use in store which kind of sucks, unlike Staples where they give you an actual check.
I’m hoping for a nice laptop-backpack this year- we will see what they got.
last year it was select bookbags
I didn’t know you could use rewards to buy something else that offers reward. I am more familiar with Staples rewards which do not work like that. You will not get any rewards back when paid for w/ rewards. Staples will let you use rewards on rebate items, which is when you get a check or paid through paypal.
I also did not know you could buy gift cards with your rewards. Thanks a bunch for that info.
just called my local Office Max and they said I CANNOT buy ANY gift cards with my rewards (even though the fine print only says: not redeemable for OfficeMax brand gift cards).
So it’s probably a good idea to call your store and/or get an “official answer.”
Thanks. Called the store and they said No, I couldn’t buy any gift cards with rewards. I asked why it specifies not redeemable on OfficeMax brand gift cards and the manager said he didn’t know.
email from OfficeMax today:
“Thank you for your MaxPerks inquiry. Until recently you could purchase gift cards with rewards. Starting July 25th that is not longer the policy in the OfficeMax stores. The only gift card that can be purchased is the OfficeMax gift card.”
Probably you meant a sneak “peek” ad, not a sneak “peak” ad.
Rats! I always spell that incorrectly. Thanks for catching it!
