Since I’m writing a series on How to Make Money Blogging right now, I wanted to share three excellent posts on blogging that I read last week. Whether you’re a brand-new blogger, just considering blogging, or have been blogging for a long time, there are lots of great suggestions in these posts:
::Jenae from I Can Teach My Child is a newer blogger who has grown her blog in amazing ways in just a short period of time. She posted a fabulous post with Blogging Tips from An Accidental Blogger.
::Leo Babauta is a more seasoned blogger with a huge following. He shares a spot-on post on 10 Mistakes That Could Be Killing Your Blog.
::And if you happened to miss it, Jon Acuff wrote a home run guest post on Breaking Writer’s Block.

I’m new to blogging! Thanks for the info!
I’m always wondering if that (or any desk picture) is your actual desk. Problogger once did a post about looking at people work spaces — very enlightening.. Would you show us yours sometime?
I don’t work on a “desk”, truth be told. When I wrote my book, I realized it would be really helpful to have a writing space, so we turned an extra room in our basement into my “office”. I have a comfy “blogging chair” (where most of my writing happens) and work from my laptop. It’s been so nice to have a quiet writing space and it’s a little retreat where I also read my Bible in the early morning hours. My assistant convinced me to get a little corner desk and storage shelf to complete the room plus I have a little area for my tea kettle/tea stuff since I always drink tea in the mornings while I read/write. It’s all very simple and uncluttered — just how I like it.
It’s so funny to think that I’m sure there are thousands of people out there each year that write entire books without desks…
Do you use an external mouse?
I totally understand the idea of not having a real desk — but I have to admit that one of my proudest moments of 2010 was “weaning myself off” my external mouse to better facilitate writing from armchairs;)
I don’t use an external mouse. I’m just a complete laptop-girl.
When I do use a desktop, the mouse seems so cumbersome!
Congrats on weaning yourself off your external mouse!
I hope your book is doing very well; I’ve thought of you a lot!
Thanks for all your posts on blogging, I am learning a ton!
I understand the laptop, flash drive and the ipod. But I don’t understand… why the extra keyboard and mouse? I’ve just gotta ask…because I know there must be a very good reason!
I have been following your blog since January and have been reading every post I can find on blogging. I’ve been wanting to start a blog for several years now and I’m so excited to get it started!!! But that’s the problem, I think I’m overly excited and I can’t boil my ideas down into one goal so that I can even come up with a good name! I did get a blog set up, but I think I tried to start out too big and have ended up leaving it to the wayside and myself very discouraged. Have you addressed the issue of starting off small? Did I miss it somewhere? Is it best to just throw everything out there and see what sticks? Or should I just reconcile with myself that I write for me and if other people enjoy reading it, GREAT! Thank you for your blog, your ideas, your help, etc!!!
Thanks Crystal … I gleaned some great ideas!
All three of those articles were excellent! Thanks for sharing. And I agree with whoever said that they’d love to see your workspace sometime. Please do a photo post about just that!
