Gurney’s Seed & Nursery Co. is offering a Garden Grab Bag with $200+ worth of seasonal items for $19.99 plus shipping. I’ve not ordered from this company myself before, but I wanted to pass this deal along for those who might be interested.
This offer is valid through June 6, 2011.

I order from this company all the time and they have fantastic plants!!! I started my garden from their seeds this spring. I started the plants expecting about half of them not to grow ( like the ones you would buy at a supermarket)…. nearly every seed grew and I had literally hundreds of extra plants. I’ve already bout 6 of these deals from myself. I suggest Gurneys for your plant supplies every year!! They have very reasonable prices in their regular season as well.
I’ve ordered from Gurneys before and have always been impressed with their products. We just purchased two dwarf cherry trees and two blueberry bushes for $30. Can’t wait to plant them this weekend!
Not sure if the sale is still going on. I ordered one and it seemed to go through. Then I turned around to order one for my mom and it appears as if the grab bag is now back to its regular price of $200. Maybe there is a one-per-customer limit or something?
When you put the grab bag in your cart and go to checkout it shows up as $200, not $19.99 so be careful!
it goes up to 200.00 if you try to add another code or something. If you just put the grab bag in, it doesn’t.
I did not try to add a code.
I’m at checkout and mine is showing up as $19.99. Exit out of your browser and go back to the site and try again, see if that helps.
I’m having a hard time telling if the grab bag is seeds or transplants…anyone? Also, are you at all able to specify zone?
I just read it more carefully- it does appear to be plants. Never mind on that one.
I have ordered from Gurney’s before and they are wonderful. Just remember your plants aren’t going to be big and beautiful when you first get them. But, this is the only place online or in catalog that I would order from.
I just ordered this for a father’s day gift! My father loves gardening! Thank you!
It’s good to hear others’ experience with the company and their plants. I was debating on purchasing this not knowing anything about them but I’m going for it! Thanks!
I ordered one for myself and one as a surprise for my mom. Very excited to see what comes. I like surprises! Thanks for posting this!
Is this for a specific planting zone? I live in Central Florida and what grows here is not necessarily what grows well everywhere else. Anyone from Florida tried this deal yet?
Amy… I read on their site that they will send you plants depending on the zone you are in. I think they specified that on their facebook site. So, you should get plants that will grow in your area.
Does anyone know whether these are perinnials or annuals?
Is this an American company only? What a heck of a steal!!
My mom ordered all of her plants and seeds from Gurney’s for as far back as I can remember, and she always had a wonderful garden. My family now lives in a twin home with a very small yard, but if I had more space I would definitely go for this deal!
I ordered the grab bag and just received it! Its all perennials, and they are in good shape.
I really like Gurney’s. I had ordered 4 dwarf blueberry plants in the early spring, due to our weather I couldn’t get them planted right away, and 2 of them died. I called Gurney’s and they sent out replacement plants free of charge right away.
I am so disappointed in Gurney’s. This was my first time ordering from them. I placed the order on 06/04 right after commenting on this post. It seems others placed their order after I did and got it so it wasn’t sold out when I placed my order. When I got to the order confirmation page, I received an order #, etc. — your typical order confirmation page on any website, nothing unusual. I copied and pasted it and saved that in my email as I always do, just in case. I went to the site yesterday to check my order status but I didn’t have an account #. I looked through my email to see if I had something with an account # on it and realized I never received an email confirmation from them. I emailed their customer service and was told, “I have reviewed your account and see that we have not received any order from you. It seems that your order did not go through.”. No suggestions as to how to rectify. I then emailed back the order confirmation page that I had copied when the order supposedly went through. I just now received another email from them stating, “Please know that order #XXXXXXXX is a temporary order number. Unfortunately, your order did not go through.” The confirmation page never said anything about a “temporary order number”. Frustrating! I had not gone to get plants at the local nursery for a new garden bed once I had placed this order. Or supposedly placed this order. Now I’m almost 10 days behind getting it done and will spend a lot more than $20! Unless they can somehow make this right, I will not be doing business with this company again. If anything changes, I will update here. Good luck and I hope you all get your orders!
I am extremely disappointed with my package. I assumed that the grab bags would have at least some of the plants in the product photo.
I also assumed that since you can tell from my order that I live in zone 7 that that would be considered in putting together a grab bag.
I received 2 bamboo which are too invasive and which I can go pull out of the ground at my neighbor’s. 4 banana trees, which I do not want to house for the winter. 2 blueberry bushes of which I have 4. 2 Alocasia amazonica which I have to use as a house plant.
I want to return the whole order. I will not plant these plants in my garden. I am originally from Barbados and we grow bananas. That is not the right plans for my zone or soil type.
I AM SO UP SET. I want to send it all back. By the way I bought 2 grab bags.
