I went to Walgreens last night and got the following deals:
2 Peeps at $0.50 each with in-ad coupon
Used $1/2 coupon (no longer available)
Free after coupon3 Scotch Magic Tapes for $1.99 total with in-ad coupon (my store didn’t have the regular $1.99 tape, so they substituted the $2.99 tape)
Used 2 $1/1 printable coupons
Free after coupons1 Nescafe Taster’s Choice 6-count box — $1.19
Used $1/1 coupon
$0.19 after coupon
I usually don’t shop at Walgreens just because I’ve not had good couponing experiences there. But last night, they were very nice and coupon-friendly. Plus, everything was in stock!
My total for all six items? Just $0.49, including tax!

I’ve been scared to try the Chocolate Peeps…anyone have a review of them?
I went and purchased 4 of them for free the other day, and as a person who isn’t a huge fan of Peep’s.. I thought I’d try one out… and actually really liked it! I definately approve!
Try microwaving them for a few seconds and you might even like the regular ones.
my walgreens took 3 scotch tape coupons!
That’s an awesome trip Crystal! I did well at Walgreen’s this past Sunday myself. I’m with you though. Walgreen’s usually seems difficult to work with but the girl I had was extremely friendly and wondered how I find out about all the coupons. I referred your site!
My Walgreens store used to be ridiculous when it came to coupons. Now they are awesome since the corporate policy came out. I also made friends with a cashier who coupons herself so that’s a big bonus. I like to go when she’s working.
I hear they taste like any chocolate covered marshmallow candy. I haven’t tried them yet but got 4 free with coupons for my kiddos’ Easter baskets.
I agree with you about Walgreens, very negative experience couponing there !
Me too. I don’t have good experience couponing there, too.
I have a walgreens that I go to quite often because I pass it on my way to work and they NEVER have any of their sale items in stock. I’m ready to give up on Walgreens and never bother.
I agree Kaleena and it can be very frustrating. However Walgreen’s and other drugstores usually don’t keep mass quantities of much of anything and with the coupons becoming increasingly popular, I’m sure it’s hard to keep up. I have found out when they’re truck comes in and then go as soona s they open the next day after they’ve ahd time to restock. I only go if I’m going to be in that direction anyway though so it’s worth my while.
There are 3 Walgreen’s in my town. The one across the street from Walmart is ALWAYS out of stock on everything, but the one that’s 2 blocks from my work has only been out of stock twice!
I make sure I go at lunch time or right after 5:00 so there are more people there, and when you are already taking up more time with the coupons, if one of the coupons beeps or won’t ring up, they always manually put it in for me!
The male assistant manager and the teenage boys are much more helpful than the women, but I always get to use my coupons!
We went for the Nivea, Chocolate Chips and Peeps…and only walked out with Nivea. Will have to say our Colorado Walgreens is normally pretty good. This is the first time we’ve come upon out of stock items…
Our Walgreens people are awesome!! We have the best clerks and most times if you don’t have a coupon they say “oh I think I have a coupon for that”. Can’t brag on those girls enough
Mine too! They even tell me about items that are being clearanced, even if the shelf price doesn’t indicate so. Love my WAGS gals!
I also saw the Taster’s Choice for $1.19 at Target.
Just did the tape deal. My Wags wouldn’t let me use more than one q.
I had the same problem but once I got home I remembered that I was supposed to give the tape coupons BEFORE the Wags coupon….I think that is why it didn’t work.
(
I’m jealous of those of you who actually found the chocolate Peeps! I have been in 3 different Walgreens in my area, and there is nary a Peep to be found anywhere.
Now you can wrap presents while eating peeps and drinking coffee
walgreen’s i stopped at yesterday wouldn’t let me use more coupons than items purchased; so what happened to coupon stacking they are advertising? has anyone had that experience? if i bought 6 items and had, say, 8 coupons because of store coupon and manufacturer coupon; manager said that it was not permitted. i am new to couponing so i obliged and moved on ; i got a great deals on the other items so I can’t complain. i am just wondering if anyone has experienced that.
Claudia, at Walgreens you have to have at least the same # of items as you do coupons (example-Colgate toothpaste Walgreens coupon $1 off and manufacturer’s coupon $1 off means that you would have to purchase another item to use both coupons). This is why you will read about people buying fillers. Fillers are items that are cheaply priced such as pencils or candy bars. Hope this helps you out. Hang in there and follow MSM and you’ll soon be a pro.
The Walgreens coupon policy states the following :
“The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction.”
At my Walgreens if I use an ad coupon and a manufacturer coupon for a single item it beeps. I have to add a filler. So when I plan my trip I always plan to have the same number of items as RR, manufacturer coupons & Walgreen coupons. It’s a pain.
Although I find it much more time consuming to plan my trip at Walgreens because of this policy and even though I’ve come home with way too many candy cow tails ($.33) as fillers my cashiers are always very, very helpful. It’s the coupon policy I find frustrating compared to CVS and Rite Aid.
Interesting. I have never had to count the 7-day ad coupon as part of the ratio of items to coupons, and I have NEVER had the computer beep at me. Sure, it beeps if I have 3 products, 3 MFQ’s and say a RR. One too many q’s. But, a friend of mine, who happens to be a Store Manager at a Walgreen’s across town tells me the computer does not recognize limits, nor does it recognize the in ad coupons as part of the ratio. I don’t understand how it will beep at one Walgreen’s and not another.
Thank you all for your input
My Walgreens would NOT let me use the in store coupon on the Magic tape in this picture. That is the new packaging and even though it fits their criteria in the description, they refused to take it and made me get the $1.99 one that looks like the one in the picture instead. Took them 3 tries to check me out before switching out my product.
Lake St. Louis MO Walgreens also completely out of Nescafe and all the Dove chocolate that is on sale and the coupon in Red Plum!! They have plenty of tape but no chocolate!
Mary Ellen, I don’t know HOW Crystal LUCKED out on getting the NEW, BEAUTIFULLY colored tape!
) Those are $2.99 and not $1.99. The coupon states buy 1 at $1.99, get 2 free…so it does NOT include the new tape that is priced at $2.99….I had to find that out the hard way!
boohoo but I am still THRILLEd to get some FREE tape & peeps!
yum!
My store said it counted since it was the only tape they had that was according to the criteria. All the other tapes were a larger size.
Could we be shopping at the same store? LOL My Walgreens didn’t even stock the tape pictured on the coupon but since the tape in your picture met the criteria stated on the coupon, they adjusted it for me too!
I grabbed a .99 pk of gummy worms while I was there because we always have dirt and worms dessert for Earth Day.
I’ll trade ya’ll!
I want the pretty tape dispenser! lol Just joking!
Ooo…you got dark chocolate peeps! I think the ones I got last night were milk chocolate. Oh, well!
Go Here http://www.tasterschoice.com/offers.aspx for a .65cent coupon for tasters choice
Thanks!
I just started couponing a few months ago.. and the girls at both WAGS in my town recognize my mom and me! It’s so much fun.. when my mom was in there last week she talked to one of the assistant managers and another worker who want to start a coupon club! I’m so grateful that our store does well with coupons!
Glad to know that I’m not the only one frustrated with Walgreen’s coupon policy!
Ahhh. Thanks for the clarification! Wish I had known that and saved myself 20 minutes and 30 people staring at me
I am so sorry! I totally should have mentioned that in the post to save you all that frustration.
I had a great WAGS trip yesterday. My favorite store had an enormous amount of tape. I bought 27 rolls, 2-bags of flour, 2 bags of sugar and 2 rolls of foil for .67 plus $1.10 in tax. Great stock up price!
The coupon for the tape specifically stated regular price of $2.99. Even though it qualified for the 3/4 x 300 size, it did not qualify for the coupon. However, the store manager has the right to substitute.
i also purchased the exact tape you did with the coupon. it “beeped” when they scanned it but they just priced adjusted each tape to make it 1.99 total! i was super excited…my walgreens also didn’t have the 1.99 tape in stock
My Walgreens is super coupon friendly, they actually have coupons for beauty at the beauty desk if you ask them, they are great about that.

I have tried to shop at walgreens but it never turns out to be a good experience! There is always a problem, the cashiers stare at me with a blank face like I know how to fix it and never a manager willing to help! I don’t do it that often and the manager at my local walgreens made me want to never touch a coupon again when he said I was coupon frauding because I wanted to buy 2 toothpastes that have RR in seperate transactions !! I wish we had a walgreens like some of you here
Lucky you. No peeps at the two stores I tried earlier this week, and no tape and no Hawaiian rolls at one of the stores. I really want to like Walgreens, but they are always out of stock of all the good deals or don’t even carry some of the products. Why can’t all the drugstores learn from CVS . . . minus their generally higher prices, of course!
I used two Always coupons last week at Walgreens to purchase the Always Dri Liners (coupon matched the product exactly), and because I had used a mfr. coupon, it wouldn’t print the RR that it was supposed to generate for $4.
Has anyone else come up against this problem?
You probaby didn’t purchase the right Always – there are only like 2 kinds that generate the RR’s. I had to have my cashier do a price check on several packages in order to find the ones that were on sale for $3. And are you sure the catalina machine was on? Using man. coupons doesn’t effect RRs not printing. You can always return the pads, and get your money back. Trying to do the transaction again would get pretty confusing since you used man. coupons.
I couldn’t find the $1.99 tape either and they gave me a raincheck, I had picked out the same tape as you, wish they would have substituted mine, love those colors!
I find it frustrating as well. I had four peeps, 1 in-add coupon and two manufacturers and it would only take one manufacturers. Then, I had two for listerine as well and one would not take, but maybe my coupon # did exceed the items. Thanks a lot for mentioning that!
where do I find the Peep Coupon? I went to the site and linked above and I can’t seem to figure out where the coupons are. anyone know?
oooo, perfect timing! – i am out of scotch tape. am going to my walgreen’s today!
thanks so much for all you do!
I had a Walgreens today refuse to let me use computer printed manufacturers coupons. They are not taking any! They have a tiny sign at the cash register. I couldn’t get my scotch tape deal! Anyone else have this problem?
Great shopping day!
Eli, it was a Facebook thing, and they posted that they had reached the print limit.
I’m not a fan of the regular peeps, but did try the chocolate peeps. Tastes just like any other chocolate covered marshmallow candy. Yum! Only thing I didn’t care for was the neon yellow color of the marshmallow inside. But they have to do something to be unique!
I bought the 3 tape dispensers 3 times at 2 different Walgreens in town. The first time I did it, the register wouldn’t scan the second manufacturer’s coupon. So, I paid the $1.18. The second time I did it at another Walgreens in town, and she did an override for the tape to 0.66, 0.66, and 0.67. Then, she just typed in the 2 manufacter coupons for $1.00 off. (I also got the Air Wick I-Motion for free at that trip with it being on sale for $3.99 and using a $4 off coupon, BUT she STILL had to override it to $3.99.) I only paid 0.57 in tax. I realized all this overriding is probably not the right thing to do, but I wasn’t complaining. Then, I went to the previous Walgreens that I went to first for one more set. There she said she couldn’t override any coupons and didn’t know how that other clerk did it. Instead of scanning all the tapes and then SCANNING the COUPON in the ad, since that’s what it is = a coupon, she just entered them in as 0.66, 0.66, and 0.67. Then, she said the second coupon wouldn’t scan. Would someone like to explain to me how she was able to scan the first $1 off of one Scotch Tape dispenser?
They were all less than a dollar. I worked in grocery for almost 2 years. I know that wouldn’t be possible. This means she just keyed in my coupon. If she keyed that one in, why couldn’t she have just keyed in my other one??? All I’m saying is don’t lie to my face, if you’re doing exactly what I think you’re doing. So, No… So, far I haven’t had a good experience at Walgreens, and it stinks that that’s where a lot of the good deals come from. I wish the employees there knew what they were doing and were more courteous and honest about it. I’m just trying to do it the honest way too.
I’m SO jealous! I went to 3 Walgreens looking for the Chocolate Peeps and everyone was sold out!
Wasn’t able to use my Q’s!
I also didn’t have another $1 Q for the Scotch tape deal. No Walgreens trip for me this week!
