My Walgreens Shopping Trip: Two boxes of PediaCare for $0.38 total!

FavoriteLoadingAdd to my favorites

by Crystal on March 10, 2011

I stopped by Walgreens the other night and picked up two boxes of PediaCare for just $0.38 total. Our store was out of the $5.99 boxes, so I had to go with the $6.99 boxes.

Here’s how I got them free (just paid for the tax and filler item):

Bought 2 boxes of PediaCare at $6.99 (they start as low as $5.99, but your store might be out of those!)
Bought 1 filler item (I bought a $0.10 piece of taffy — I had to add this on because my last coupon wouldn’t go through since my total was $0.02 negative.)
Used 2 $2/1 coupons
Stacked with $5/1 in-ad Walgreens coupon (took off $10)
Paid $0.38 out of pocket after coupons

Plus, I got back a $1.50/1 PediaCare coupon from the catalina machine! I’ve been hearing reports that most people are getting these, which means you can roll this deal and buy more using the catalina coupon.

i got mine for .48 cents a piece by using the 5 off in store coupon and then i used a 3.00 off of 2. great deal!!

Ashley March 10, 2011 at 4:53 pm

I got the $1.50 from the Catalina machine and the cashier took it and scanned it before I even realized. So I got three bottles for free.

3 bottles of the Children’s multi symptom cold (7.49).
Used $5 off coupon
(3) $2/$1 coupons
$1.50/1 Catalina

Sandra Lee March 10, 2011 at 5:29 pm

You can also buy 5 individual bowls of Fruity Pebbles cereal at .79 each and receive 2 $4 Register Rewards. That’s a $4 MoneyMaker!

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Is this deal in the ad?

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 8:42 pm

So you pay $0.79 x 5 = $3.95 and receive 2 – $4 RR ($8 total)?!? Is this deal in the ad?

Jami March 10, 2011 at 8:57 pm

I just got back from doing this deal. In the ad is the coupon for $0.79 ea on the cereal cups. Only works with Fruity Pebbles. Purchase 5 and get 2 $4 RR. The ad doesn’t say anything about the RR.

Sandra Lee March 10, 2011 at 9:43 pm

The single serve cereals are $1.00, but there is an in-ad q which gives you the sale price of .79 each. So, yes, you pay $3.95 and get back 2 $4 RR. My neighbor did it and told me the “blue” RR is rolling. I didn’t get to see them so, I didn’t actually see the RR to be able to describe it better for you. Anyway, she bought another 5 plus a $1.05 filler, used the blue $4 RR and got back 2 more $4 RR. Nice deal if you can get it!

Victoria G. March 10, 2011 at 10:26 pm

I just got back from Walgreens and they didn’t have 5 in stock, so I bought 3. I got a $2RR and a $2 Catalina (blue RR) that said “Good on next purchase”. If you buy 5 of them, you get two $4 RR’s and if you buy 3 of them, you get two $2RR’s. It was still a nice money maker, so I’m happy.

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 10:33 pm

I’ll have to check it out tomorrow – hope they still have some in stock and that it’s still working! :)

Jennifer March 10, 2011 at 10:42 pm

I did this deal twice tonight at Wags. The in ad q is for .79 each. I bought 5 of the Fruity Pebbles each time and got 2 $4 RR-actually one is a Catalina and the other is a RR. And, yes the blue/catalina one is rolling. I paid 4.26 for 5 and got 8 dollars back-twice!! To get the 2 $4 RR/catalinas you do have to purchase the Fruity Pebbles and no other kind of cereal. Some people are saying that the other cereals do give back a $2 RR.

Jen March 11, 2011 at 10:59 am

I’m not FOR SURE, but it’s NOT the General Mills cereals ~ as per “others” ~ but PROBABLY the other Post cups that are producing the one $2.00 RR, but not the bonus $2.00 cat which would make the healthier cups $.40 for three.

Crystal March 11, 2011 at 12:34 pm

Has anyone tried this today?

Samantha March 10, 2011 at 5:31 pm

I got mine today too, but it was free! I got the cat coupons too! We were out of the allergy medicine but I still got the fever reducer =]

The Prudent Homemaker March 10, 2011 at 5:37 pm

These were priced at $7.49 at my Walgreens, and they didn’t carry the infants one at all. This made 2 bottles with tax for $1.38.

I also forgot about the one item per coupon rule (I don’t do Walgreens deals often enough to remember), but I didn’t have to use any filler items; the coupons went through just fine.

I did get one catalina coupon for $1.50 off as well.

Rae March 10, 2011 at 5:46 pm

I always thought that the coupons (including ALL coupons) had to be equal or greater to the amount of items but after further reading the coupon policy again, it says that the all MAN. coupons (including RR) have to be equal or greater to and since the in ad coupon is not a manufacturer coupon, that is why you did not have a problem :) Now some of the “store” coupons in the booklets are “walgreens manufacturer” coupons so I don’t now about those but with this store coupon it was an ad one which usually just work like a sale.

The Prudent Homemaker March 10, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Thank you for the explanation!

April March 10, 2011 at 5:40 pm

I rolled it again, but i had to pay a bit more since the cost of the Pedia Care is 7.99 at my store. :( So my total was 1.13, but I still like that price.

Stacy March 10, 2011 at 6:27 pm

I did this deal on Tuesday and only bought got one for 68 cents. Both the man and the Wags coupon went through fine…no need for a filler. I thought Wags coupons didn’t count toward the “one coupon per item” rule.

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 6:29 pm

Mine wouldn’t go through without a filler. But my Walgreens is also not very coupon-friendly.

Jennifer March 10, 2011 at 7:07 pm

I am thinking it wouldn’t go thru without the “filler” item, because you had $.02 overage with the 2 – $2 off manf coupons. I am definitely not a coupon expert, but that has been my case with these coupons – that I had to have some extra to cover the $.02 overage.

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Yes, that was my thought, too.

The Prudent Homemaker March 11, 2011 at 8:28 am

Perhaps that is why I did not need a filler item, as my store’s price was $7.49, costing me .49 each plus tax.

Julie March 10, 2011 at 7:04 pm

My Walgreens shopping trip consisted of purchasing 2 packages of pampers 2/$20 (used $2/1 infant care booklet nd 2/$2 from 2/27 P&G, 6 pediacare products at 6.99 each used 6/$2 q and $5 in Q, 3 ajax in ad q 3/$1 paid $9.91 and received $3 RR from Pampers, 2.00 off neosporin lip care product q and $1.50 pediacare item q…I saved $65.00

shelley March 10, 2011 at 7:27 pm

I have a quick question….
you guys mentioned using the catalina with the walgreens $5 and the manufacturer $2……can you do that? the catalina’s say Manufacturer coupon on them, so I have always been curious :)

thanks in advance for your time!

Amber March 11, 2011 at 6:41 am

Yes, I was curious too, so I tried it yesterday. The Walgreen’s catalina is treated like a manufacturer’s coupon, so I was able to use it in conjunction with the $5 in-ad coupon. :)

Dana @ The Coupon Challenge March 10, 2011 at 7:32 pm

My store carries the infant drops for $6.49 and the children’s for $7.49, so I was able to get 4 infants and 1 children’s for less than $0.50 total (2 transactions).

Perfect for all the baby showers I’ll be attending soon!

Jessica March 10, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Here’s what I did …
2 bottles @ $5.99
1 bottle @ $6.99
1 Downey (40 load) @ $3.99
-3 $2 coupons
-$15 from the in store coupon
-$1 Downey coupon
Total = $0.96, $1.20 after tax (only the Downey was taxed … Maryland)

Not too shabby!

Susan (FrugaLouis) March 10, 2011 at 7:53 pm

I got two PediaCares today and one snickers bar (treat!), and paid seven cents. Yay! The cashier said, ” You know how to shop!” Well, I try!

Darcy@Somewhatmuddledmusings March 10, 2011 at 8:08 pm

Curious – can the catalina be stacked on top of the $2.00 manufacturer coupon & the store coupon from the circular? Since our walgreen’s have their pediacare at $7.49-$7.99 – that would take off that last .99 I had to pay for one today…and I could swing by tomorrow and pick up one more?

Rae March 10, 2011 at 9:28 pm

That would be coupon stacking (using 2 manufacturer coupons on 1 item) so no you can’t. Sometimes you will get a cashier that doesn’t really know how coupons work and might let it but it is against the rules.

Rebecca March 10, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Where do you find the 10 cent laffy taffys? I can’t find them in my store and that is a great price for a filler!

Thanks!

Victoria G. March 10, 2011 at 10:30 pm

I agree, Rebbecca! I looked all over tonight at my store and couldn’t find them. .10 is much better than what I’ve been using.

Crystal March 10, 2011 at 10:34 pm

At my store, they are $0.17 and right by the register.

shelly March 10, 2011 at 10:52 pm

I thought you had to have the same number of items as coupons. Is that not right? could you buy one bottle of pediacare and use the $5 in ad coupon and a manufacturer coupon?

Amber March 11, 2011 at 6:48 am

As I commented to an earlier post, this is my first week trying Walgreens shopping; and, due to this Pedicare deal, I’m hooked!! Yesterday was the third day I stopped by on my way home to pick some up, and it was the best score of all. Here’s what I got for just $0.63:
2- Infant Pedicare
1 – Children’s Pedicare
2 – 16 count Benefiber sticks (used $7/2 coupon)

My Walgreens had the Strawberry Kiwi Benefiber drink sticks on clearnance for $4.19 (marked down from $7.99); and since I had overages on the Infant Pedicare, I was able to save $34.60. I’ve told everybody I know about the deal… including you’all. :)

Milk Donor Mama March 11, 2011 at 7:29 am

I got 6 pediacare @5.99 and 7 cans of geisha mushrooms. I used 2 $3/2 mfcs and 2 $2 off 1 mfcs and paid $.84. I was out of mushrooms and my infant son goes through a bottle or two of pain reliever with each tooth he gets so I was pleased!

Rachel March 11, 2011 at 8:25 am

At my Walgreens they only let me use one $5 in-ad q – they said the coupon has the same code so it will only go thru once. Is that true? I questioned them because the q says limit 3, not 1.

Rachel March 11, 2011 at 8:26 am

To be clear, I was purchasing 2 bottles.

Rae March 11, 2011 at 11:08 am

yes they only scan it once (scanning that type of coupon more than once will not change the outcome) but it should have rung up as $10 off (for 2)

Crystal March 11, 2011 at 8:31 am

The coupon should automatically take off $10 if you’re buying two bottles. If it doesn’t, try adding in a small filler item and see if it goes through.

Rachel March 11, 2011 at 4:42 pm

OK, I checked my receipt and you were right! Thanks for the explanation!! I was purchasing some other items and I hadn’t planned out my scenarios so I wasn’t sure how much the total should be. My cashier also took the coupons that printed afterward and scanned them for me while I was there, without asking me (I had a $3/2 printable so it would have come out the same.) So I got both bottles for only 50 cents!

angel March 11, 2011 at 11:25 am

what do you mean “use 2 $2/1 coupon” i.e. on pediacare? can i print it twice and give the two same coupon on checckout or the store will scan it twice? pls. help i nver try this….can walgreens or other store accept that? thanks..

Crystal March 11, 2011 at 11:52 am

Yes, you can print it twice and use two to buy two boxes.

angel March 11, 2011 at 1:39 pm

but do walgreens accept the two the same printed coupon (2$/1 coupon) of pediacare and scan at one transaction only? coz i have experienced on different items before i bought the two same items and use two the the same printed coupon but they didn’t accept it instead only one was scanned?

Mandy March 11, 2011 at 1:11 pm

Thanks so much for this info. I got a great deal! The infant’s Pedicare was on sale for $5.99 at my Wal-greens. I tried buying just one bottle + a $0.99 filler; I had both coupons, but the register and the cashier wouldn’t allow me to. But..the cashier was super nice and told me to go get two more, then I was able to use the $5.00 off on all 3 and then the $2.00 of MF and paid only $0.97 oop for all 3 bottles!! Not sure what I did wrong at first, but I’m even happier with the deal I got than what I had tried to do! :)

Amanda March 11, 2011 at 1:27 pm

I’m new to shopping at Walgreens and I want to make sure I understand this before I try it. I can use (1) $1.50 catalina to get multiple pediacare bottles at $1.50 off plus use the $5 off in ad coupon, right? And, if I do this with the 5.99 pediacare I’ll have to have a filler item to make up for the negative total?

MVB March 11, 2011 at 2:37 pm

Where is the Walgreen’s coupon–the $5 off one? I just went and couldn’t find it. Is it in this week’s ad, the infant care book, or the March booklet? Please let me know. I printed the other ones.

Crystal March 11, 2011 at 2:40 pm

It’s in this week’s ad. I’ve heard that it’s not in the NYC ad, but you can print it off online from another ad.

MVB March 11, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Thank you! I am in Delaware and I just checked my ad again that came with my Sunday paper and it is not in there. Love you blog oh so much! My three kids are almost the same age as yours…..5, 3.5, 18 months. We’re home-schooling too. Fun!

MVB March 11, 2011 at 4:03 pm

ok, so I am still not finding the coupon. Any idea of a zipcode I can use to try to find an online ad from a different location that may have the Pedia Care coupon?

Rachel March 11, 2011 at 4:44 pm

I used 61571.

j March 11, 2011 at 5:03 pm

My local ad doesn’t have a Pediacare coupon either so I used 60601 and it’s on page 13.

MVB March 11, 2011 at 5:22 pm

thank you! that worked….hopefully my store will take it!

Renee March 12, 2011 at 1:14 am

I bought one chocolate bar 67cents in the end. but I didn’t get $1.5 coupon back.
