They spell “colour” like that because that’s the Canadian way to spell it!! For us Canucks, it drives us batty to see it spelt “color” … lol!
Aa a fellow Canadian – Michelle I agree completely. Plus I’m happy they are sending me coupon for free hair colour.
It is the proper way to spell the word in British English.
And John Frieda is British so it would make sense that his company spells it that way. (Though I do think he has sold the company and I don’t know if it is still based in the UK).
I always thought words looked fancier with the added “u” when I was younger so I tried to spell everything the British way. I grew out of it but I still think it looks nicer.
Right, but I prefer the American spelling and it feels like I’m making a typo to spell it like that!
I’m with you on this one Gina
The language is called English after all. Not American
I got a $1.50 off any hair care product after the survey.
Thanks, I got a $1.50 off coupon =)
Yea! It says I have been selected to recieve a free box. Maybe I color my hair too much
Got a free one! Thanks!
Yes, Crysal, it drives me nuts too. When I am reading it, I feel like I have to pronounce it as goofy as it looks!
Glad to know I’m not alone!
We don’t pronounce it any differently ….
I wouldn’t say it looks goofy. Many words are spelt differently in British English than they are in American English. Both ways are proper.
I am sure to people that are used to it, it does not look goofy, but I am not, so it looks goofy to me
No offense to anyone who spells it that way.
Sweet! I got a free bottle. I also got a freebie from the Loreal foam you posted before, so I’ll be able to dye my hair twice now for free
That’s awesome! There are people out there who think I am a natural redhead (instead of blonde) because of these great deals
GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
$1.50 off any hair care product. Wonder how the free boxes are picked?
Thanks for sharing! Coupon for my free box is in the mail. Love your blog.
Got one! I guess I’m not buying hair color at the Dollar Tree this month! Huzzah!
As a Canadian living in the States, with three American daughters, I’m on the fence about this one. Gotta admit, though, I may be becoming more ‘American’ than I realize, because I can take it both ways!
Haha, I didn’t even notice the spelling—does that mean I’ve lived in the UK as a US military spouse for too long?
did they take it down? i scrolled down to december’s posts and didn’t see that survey link
thanks
I’m not seeing the link either.
I got the coupon for $1.50 off after turning off the https safe browsing thing on fb. You have to uncheck the box for it in your account settings. Hope that helps!
thanks
Yay I got a free box!! And just in time to dye my hair after our baby is born in May! I haven’t dyed it since September and the gray is definitely showing through!
Oh 1.50 off combined with the recent coupons from the Sunday paper should be some cheap product!! Couponing is such a rush! (I’m a dork : ) )
Awesome….. got a free coupon.. Why though is it 8-10 weeks for deivery? Just print a label with my name and adress and stick a stamp on it.
I got a free box! Yay!
Thank you so much for this post! I qualified for a free box. I actually get my hair done at the salon, but my fiancee is a horse trainer and we dye one of our horse’s tail black (it’s usually white)…it takes almost three boxes of dye each time! This is really helpful.
i got one for free
Free box coming in 6-10 weeks. Thanks!
Coupon for my free box of hair colour is in the mail, too.
As a Canadian, I have to say that the american way of spelling things always makes me feel like I’m looking at a typo. Then again, I think it sounds goofy to hear the last letter of the alphabet pronounced as “zee”, too, since us Canadians pronounce it “zed”. To me, coming from a country with two official languages – both English and French – “zee” sounds like someone trying to fake a bad French accent! LOL
My American husband teases me about my “extra U” in spelling, and about using “zed’, and always notices when I say “eh” … which apparently is far most often than I realize!
My friend’s (Australian) preschooler came home from her first day at preschool after they moved to the States seriously peeved because her American teacher not only talked funny but clearly didn’t know the alphabet because she kept saying zee instead of zed.
I Love it , it reminds me of home and now I’ll have a fancy new hair colour to show off when i go to England for my sisters wedding, Yay !!
