At least as of last night, you didn’t have to. Does it appear like they’ve changed it now? That’s possible. Let me know, if so, and I’ll update the post.

Angie March 1, 2011 at 9:11 am: No you don’t need a Costco membership. It asks for your Costco member number, but it is not a required field. I got the free sample by just filling out the other basic information.

Entering the Costco Member ID is optional.

I just tried to enter my information without the id #. It’s not optional. There is an asterisk next to it which means it’s required. Please update. Thanks.

It did indicate (just now) that the membership ID # was required, but I tried to leave it blank. When I submitted, it said the membership # was incorrect, so I guess they tightened up their requirements.
