These are great, I made them at Christmastime, you can mix all kinds of cake and frosting combos, my fav is chocolate cake, german chocolate frosting with a touch of rum flavoring, dipped in dark chocolate.
Also great with choc, choc frost, dark choc coating with a tiny sprinkle of sea salt.
And also spice cake with cream cheese frosting, and white chocoate

OHHHH I am hungry for these now, I hope I still have some left in the freezer!

I am not a big baker. Where can I buy the cute edible pearls on these?

Bridgette @ Blessings Multiplied February 10, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Ariania,

You can purchase them in most grocery stores in the cake aisle. They are next to the candles, tubes of frosting, sprinkles, red hots, etc….

Sometimes you get get them for a better price at Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s or other crafts stores (especially if you have a coupon) near the cake baking section. WalMart typically has them in the crafts area near the cake decorating items as well.

I have a white cake mix, cream cheese frosting and cherry flavored chips in the pantry to make some cake truffles on Monday. It’s my first try and I’m really excited.

I love that she calls them truffles… sounds a lot better than balls, which is what I know them as (cake balls). I discovered these when my attempts to make a cut birthday cake turned into disaster and I had more than a couple cakes I wouldn’t be serving. I ended up smooshing everything together, rolling into balls, freezing, and then dipping in Almond Bark and then adding some sprinkles. They were a HUGE hit (and soooo tasty!)
I think Baker Ella has the best site for these:

Yes! I LOVE Bakerella’s site! I think this is a fun project for my kiddos coming up soon…can’t you see three preschoolers with their hands all smooshing the cake together! And then I take them to work to share because there’s too much for us to eat at home. Everyone wins!
