Sign up for Hot Deal Text Alerts from MoneySavingMom.com!

by Crystal on January 27, 2011

You’ve asked for it and we’re excited to now make Text Alerts available to you!

Just text FOLLOW MSMDEALS to 40404 and you’ll be signed up to receive texts whenever a hot deal surfaces.

Please note that you will only receive texts for deals which I deem to be especially hot and time sensitive. There will likely be no more than three texts sent per day but I’d suggest only signing up for this service if you have unlimited texting as I certainly wouldn’t want to add any extra text expenses to your cellphone bill!

If you don’t have unlimited texting, you can follow on Facebook or Twitter in order to be notified immediately every time I post a deal.

Subscribe for free email updates and be entered to win $100!

Is this like subscribing to your twitter account via cell phone? The set-up prompts are asking for my twitter user name and pw.

If this is subscribing to your tweets, then does that mean you will be limiting your tweets to no more than three (3) posts her day?

Jessica, Although this is technically following a twitter account via text, you don’t need a Twitter account to get the text alerts. I haven’t subscribed myself (since I don’t have texting on my phone) but I know others have subscribed w/o having an account. If you don’t enter your Twitter name and pw, will it still let you subscribe?

As for the tweets, @msmdeals is a separate twitter account from Crystal’s main one @moneysavingmom. Only the hot deals she posts will go to the @msmdeals account and subsequently to your phone via text message. She won’t be changing anything about how she tweets from her normal @moneysavingmom handle.

I could not sign up as I carrier requires a 10 digit phone number for me to text to.
