Do-It-Yourself: Vintage Postcard Calendar Journal

Overwhelmed at the thought of keeping a journal? Design Sponge shows you how to turn Vintage Postcards into a simple Calendar Journal. This would be so fun to use every year and be reminded of different things which have happened on that same day in previous years.

You can take this same idea and make your own variation of it, as Rhymes With Magic has done.

Do you have a fun and frugal DIY idea to share? I’d love to hear about it! Read the submission guidelines and submit it here.

I do this with my kids, except the last few months I have forgotten to. It s so much fun to look back a year later and realize that it was the first steps your baby took. Or that you made cokies to give to friends. I have wanted to but not gotten around to adding photos in with mine. I use notcards and a photo box from the craft store.

Great idea! My only concern is how will the notecards hold up being used for 10 years? Also, with my crew it could very easily get spilled and would be a pain to clean up :)

I think I’ll use the same idea but stamp each new date at the top of a journal page, then just divide the page into 10 sections using a few lines for each year.

I can’t wait to get started now, I’m excited about being able to look back over 10 years.

This would make a great baby shower gift!

@Allyson @ A Heart for Home, I keep it by my bed on my night stand. i write the card at night. Also some cards have more things on them so a new card will be added once it is full. plus I use the big 5×7 cards.

This would also work with an index card box. Then it would be more contained. I am afraid I might have a mess if it isn’t in some sort of box. I think that I might have to do this.

This blog was so fun to look at. I can’t wait to do the chicken wire frame and PVC pipe sprinkler with my boys!

I loved this project when I saw it on the above blog…it was more time consuming than I thought, but my daughter helped – she had gotten a library set for Christmas and so she stamped many of the cards. I made one for us and one for a friend’s birthday!

I saw this the other day as well and created one, only I used some leftover scrapbook paper for dividers and I made a printable template instead of buying a date stamp! :) If anyone wants the PDF template to print on 4×6 cards they are welcome to it!

Thanks so much for sharing these links. Both versions are such wonderful ideas and what a neat way to remember previous times! Definitely sharing this on my blog!

I can’t wait to make this! I need to start looking for a container that I love enough to look at it every day. :)

I made one over the weekend and it was so easy (and cheap – did it all for about $5)! I had fun making it and look forward to writing in it every day. Thanks for the idea!!
