Here’s a clever idea from Suzi:
A few weeks ago I purchased some Mary Engelbreit gift tags from the $1 bins at Michaels. They are two-dimensional, sparkly and fun! After using some to decorate and others as actual gift tags, I had plenty left over for another project. I came up with the idea to use the extra gift tags to make a Holiday Memory Game for my 2 toddlers.
I gathered a pair of each of the gift cards I had on hand, which made for 24 cards or 12 pairs. I then cut extra scrap book paper I had on hand to the size of the gift tags and used a glue stick to adhere the scrapbook paper game piece backs.
I then split them into two sets and let my girls get to playing! They had so much fun matching the cards and seeing all the fun holiday illustrations. I ended up making another set and packaging them up in a small lollipop storage bag (also from Michaels) and attaching a coordinating tag on the top. I plan to give these to friends with children so that they can play too!
Because I had these supplies on hand, this project didn’t cost me anything. But even if items needed to be purchased, I think this craft/project could be done for under $4.

I made these one year for the kids in our family, but I used pictures of all our family members, including cousins and such. It was super cheap b/c I used some free prints I had from Snapfish. It was also a super hit!
I do this with stickers and index cards -my son loves them. We use whatever “characters” he’s into at the moment.
A twist on this that my kids loved was when my sister-in-law made memory cards from pictures of all their cousins who lived in another state. It was a great way to help young children remember faraway relatives.
