Is Catalina Marketing finally starting to release details of catalinas?

For years now, I’ve been saying that I wish Catalina Marketing would help us out by releasing the information on all the current catalinas running. I mean, if you’re a marketing company and your job is to market catalinas, would making the details of those catalinas more accessible to the general public be a good thing? I certainly think so!

At any rate, Catalina Marketing just started a new site called CouponNetwork.com. They offer a number of printable coupons as well as details on “Buy and Save” offers at your local store. It appears to me like they may just be starting to release the catalina details to the general public (it looks like that’s what the “Buy and Save” offer details are — apparently, Catalina Marketing does not call their offers “catalinas”! :) )

When I looked up the offers in my area, there was only one offer showing up and I’m thinking there should be more catalinas than that running right now. However, I have hope that this is the start of great things from Catalina Marketing.

If you know of specific catalinas running at your local stores, could you check this out and see if they are showing up on the list at CouponNetwork.com?

Thanks for the head’s up on this, The Coupon Girl!

I shop at Hannaford and they didn’t have the one I knew about listed, but they did have one that I didn’t know about. :)

Danielle Moore September 28, 2010 at 6:31 am

It does not appear to be showing any for my area, and I know that there are some running right now.

Donna September 28, 2010 at 6:58 am

It’s a nice site, but when I signed up, they didn’t bring up the store chain that I use most, which is Meijer. I picked other stores, like Jewel, Target, Dominicks and Walgreens, since I do frequent those for great sales. Hopefully as this picks up more steam, they will add more stores and be more accurate with all the catalina’s.

Stephanie September 28, 2010 at 6:59 am

It is not a complete list of the current catalinas. I know of a Green Giant one running at my local store, and while the store is listed, the catalina offer is NOT. Hope they get the site running correctly, it would really be nice to have a 100% sure database for these.

RuthS September 28, 2010 at 7:06 am

The only stores it would let me select are Walgreens and Kroger. No CVS or Meijer, which is where I actually shop.

theresa September 28, 2010 at 7:10 am

not a complete list for me either! only one of several in my area showed up -

Ann September 28, 2010 at 7:11 am

Since I’m fairly new to this whole process, I’m going to plead ignorance and ask: What exactly is a “catalina”?? I’ve seen the term several times but can’t find what it means. :)

@Ann, A catalina .. is the “coupon” that prints out from the register

Allison V. September 28, 2010 at 9:06 am

@Ann, For example, there is one for Pillsbury refrigerated rolls and such:
Buy 4, get a $1 coupon
Buy 5, get a $2 coupon
Buy 6, get a $3 coupon.
These particular coupons are money off my next order, so they are good on just about anything, not just a specific item.

There are also $ off coupons that are printed for specific products, say when I buy Cheerios, I get a coupon for $ off General Mills cereals. But we couponers get the most excited about the $ off your next order!

Ann September 28, 2010 at 9:53 am

@Allison V., Thanks, everyone! I do get those, just didn’t know that they were called catalinas. Sometimes on the back page of our Meijer ad, it actually lists all the catalinas for that week in real small print. Wish it was in every week, but I’ll take it when they print it!

Melissa September 28, 2010 at 7:15 am

It listed all of my stores, but it didn’t list any of the many catalinas that I know are going on right now. It did list one for McCormick’s spices which I didn’t know about, but I couldn’t see the details only “Save up to $3 on McCormick’s spices”.

Crystal September 28, 2010 at 7:27 am

If you click to print it, it will tell you the details. Hope that helps!

Tami Seibold September 28, 2010 at 12:30 pm

@Melissa, Yeah, you have to print it which wastes ink and paper.

Michelle September 28, 2010 at 9:24 pm

@Melissa,
I printed it, and then thought there was a coupon in the list, so I clicked on it… I was a little disappointed that it printed out the same catalina announcement, and no $ off coupons :( FYI, it says Buy McCormick Spices or Extracts between 9/27/10 and 10/31/10 – buy 2 get 1.50 oyno, buy 3 or more, get 3.00 oyno, HTH!

Jenni September 28, 2010 at 7:17 am

I got a few at Target last night and they did not show up on this website.

Jennifer September 28, 2010 at 7:20 am

I registered and noticed that I could not pick any stores outside of my general zip code. I frequently shop at my grocery stores on the other side of town (better natural foods department) but I was only able to choose the one closest to me. Also, several stores in my area (Festival Foods and Piggly Wiggly) are listed under their parent company’s names (Supervalu and Fresh Brands). I did find two Catalinas that were not noted on another grocery shopping blog but it did not list at least 1/2 dozen that I know have been going on and don’t end until 10/3.

It’s a start anyway! Hopefully they will add to the site as they see more and more people register. So spread the word, I’m sending it to my FB page The Bargain Sleuth.

Thanks for the blog!

Allison V. September 28, 2010 at 9:08 am

@Jennifer, I had the same thing with the zip code. I live in a suburb, but we only have a tiny locally owned store here, which did show up. But I wanted to get Dillon’s, Walgreen’s, and Target on my list, so I changed the zip around until I got one near all the locations I shop, and all the stores I wanted showed up on the list.

Michelle September 28, 2010 at 9:27 pm

@Allison V., Ditto! I hope they change it so that you can add multiple zips, or at least do a radius search from your zip (25/50 mile) to find your local stores. I wrote to the tech support, we’ll see if that gets anywhere :)

Laura Martin September 28, 2010 at 7:49 am

I know of three running at my store right now… none of them showed up… only the McCormick one which I didn’t know about

Sharmin R. September 28, 2010 at 8:34 am

This must be a west coast thing? My FL zip won’t work…

Stephen September 28, 2010 at 8:35 am

Target has a save $2 on $10 cosmetics (Catalina) that doesn’t expire until november 11 for me.

Allison V. September 28, 2010 at 9:23 am

All I had was the McCormick offer too. Andrea at savingslifestyle.com (formerly MommySnacks) has Kroger cats listed on her site. I don’t know where she is located, but they all seem to work for me at Dillon’s, our Kroger affiliate here. It will be awesome if they get this site fully updated!

Jennifer September 28, 2010 at 10:00 am

Crystal- I couldn’t agree more! I think it’s so strange that there aren’t more specifics given on catalinas as it would increase sales for the product and the store. This is going to be a great resource if they really do end up listing all the catalina info. Thanks for the update!

Jan September 28, 2010 at 10:02 am

I was able to chose my local store Giant Eagle but no deals came out that they are offering now. Maybe because it is too new.
I will keep checking it.

Marcy September 28, 2010 at 5:40 pm

@Jan,
The catalina I printed off the site says the McCormick offer at my grocery store started 09/27/10 and good through 10/31/10.

Marcy September 28, 2010 at 5:42 pm

@Marcy, oops! This is in reply to Lynn’s comment.

lynn @ Maven of Savin' September 28, 2010 at 10:36 am

The McCormick one starts 10/4 – so I am guessing they did not load the ones that are ending 10/3 which is a lot of the current ones running now. I know of 3 other “possible” ones that start 10/4 so we will see if they get them loaded.

Gail September 28, 2010 at 12:07 pm

I was only able to choose Kroger and Walgreens, and no Catalinas showed up. I wonder if the stores have to “buy in” to be listed. I got cash back on next purchase at Meijer’s on I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter – $2 on next purchse if you purchase 3. $1.50 on next purchase when you buy Alpo Cans. (50 cents wyb 6 x 18). $1.00 off next meat or chicken purchase when you buy old El Paso. I LOVE Meijer’s!

Erika September 28, 2010 at 12:47 pm

I get a list of National Catalina deals (not necessarily picked up in all areas, but these are the ones available to stores) from Coupons Deals and More. You can check out the listing here…

http://couponsdealsandmore.com/uncategorized/national-catalina-offers-3/

I was impressed that Ann has some pretty cool connections to get a list like this :) .

Beth B. September 28, 2010 at 1:14 pm

I got a free 8×8 Shutterfly photo book catalina from Harris Teeter today! I have no idea what I did to get it, but I’m happy.

LoriAnn September 28, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I don’t see where you can see the CATALINAS listed. I only see coupons to print???

Marcy September 28, 2010 at 5:44 pm
